Minder Deals Gone Bad - Now in police custody - Victims please contact the police!
I just gave that piece of shit a call. He "claims" to have shipped them off this past Thursday and says since we didn't pay for tracking, it is out of his hands. I told him that we will be pressing charges with the Glendale Police Department which I fully intend to do if I don't receive my iPod by tomorrow (which should be plenty of time if he did mail them on Thursday). To which he replied, "That's fine man."

I found his info online and it matches with the info in this thread. The address that he mailed from belongs to:

Doris J. Minder (a woman answered which sounds like his mom)
5222 West Maui Lane
Glendale, AZ 85306

His phone number which I can confirm is the following:

602-504-9514

If we don't hear from him or get our merchandise, all 5 or 6 of us need to contact the Glendale Police Department together as Shrike suggested.
Awesome - I hope you guys ruin this scamming thief. I hate to see my fellow CAG'ers get ripped off. I wish he was in LA, I would pay him a visit for you all and slap some reality into his head.

When you guys call the police, tell them that he was selling 'brand new' iPods below MSRP, and that some people actually received them, so he may be in receipt of stolen property and part of a theft ring.

Also, remember that he has broken federal law as well - interstate fraud, mail/wire fraud...you can report him to various agencies and entities responsible for policing such crime, such as the postal police, FBI, etc.

And if that is his mom, I would definitely inform her what her wonderful son is up to, as well as inform her that aiding and abetting makes her an accessory to theft and fraud.

You guys are lucky he lives in Glendale. You have a much better chance of the police doing something towards catching him then if he lived in Phoenix or Scottsdale. The Firefighters and cops there are really aggressive go-getters.

Good luck getting him busted. It's a long time coming and couldn't happen to a nicer fellow. ;P

I didn't think anything of the merch because a nano I purchased from him had the Buffalo Sabres logo on it, thought he got them because they couldn't go retail. Every case was beaten to hell so there is no way that could be put on retail shelves.

I am calling the police on Wednesday. I have to go up to NYC tomorrow to talk about signing a record deal with my band.
Did anything ever happen to JuanDDixon?
Unfortunately, no. He's a professional scam artist, from the long history behind him, so everyone who's tried has come up short.

I can't imagine anyone shipping that much stuff without putting a DC on it, or insurance. Heck, anything I ship gets a DC #, and anything more than $50 value gets insurance. I smell punk kid that doesn't know what he's doing in that dialogue with him, Kendro. I'm sure if the house isn't his, and he's a kid like I'm thinking, the police showing up at his mom's front door won't win him any points with her.
Jesus, this is so sketchy.

"Personal problems" aside, exactly how many 40+ sets of iPods has this guy gone through selling here? And were the first few batches traded successfully?

Or was it just a few that actually got sold, then the "personal problems" started up?

While he could actually be an honest, decent guy who just happens to be going through honest to goodness personal problems that are impeding his ability to trade at the moment, all the details of this case remind me of the old saying "if a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is".

This guy, if he actually does still have and is planning to send out the latest iPods, is probably either connected to a fencing/stolen goods operation (maybe even 'organized crime'/mafioso ring) that is jacking cases/pallets of iPods somewhere, or...

He has a connection to them cheap because these units (or their packaging)are beat up in transit and can't be sold at retail shops, so they get heavily discounted and sold in bulk.

Or he's just lying and scamming after setting up good trading feedback.
I'm betting on the last point being the most correct.

Didn't pay for tracking? Was he going to charge $235.60 for the DC#? That should be complimentary for such a small package at such a high price. What a lying piece of shit.

Another PM from another helpful CAG:
Shrike -

I don't know if this will help -
I would advise everyone who was 'scammed' to act NOW. From what I was told, he's shipping off to Great Lakes, IL this month. [I'm trying to verify that now.] So his 'I'm moving' alibi makes sense. Also he's 21, and every package sent out never had DC or was insured.
Makes me think that it might be a good idea for people to call en-masse immediately to the local police department.

I was thinking the same thing. He just built up his feedback then started burning people.

Kendro, you are the man. I am sure the iPods didn't ship. I asked him to use Paypal shipping so that he could get DC for free and he replied, "I like to do it (ship) my way." Although, my wife said she had to sign for the first package and he did PM me an insurance number. I never bothered to check it because the package arrived the next day. I am contemplating calling the arse's mom and explaining the situation. Although, I don't want to hear it from her (why are you buying things from a child or whatever). I have dealt with some crazy ass parents who think their child can do no wrong.

So if hes going into the Navy then it should be even easier to take this guy down. Because he starts to slip up he wont ship anywhere. We should contact the local police department ASAP though so they can get the ball moving. Im going to call later on tonight (AM there). Thanks for all the info guys.

If hes about to join the Navy hes an adult. We dont need POS like this guy in the military. Im going to contact his mother tomorrow morning. It might not be a bad idea to contact the local Navy Recruiting station too. I know when I came in the Army my recruiter was scared as hell I might get in trouble before my ship date came.

At this point, I'd call the cops as well as Minder, because if the cops get multiple complaints about someone, it's an easier thing for them to go deal with. One person might be a fluke, six of them, very unlikely and is certain to be real.

How do you relate the situation to the police, any advice before I call. Also, should I call the mother first, not call the mother and just call the police or what. Thanks.

Call his mother and if it seems like shes giving you BS let her know your going to call the police. Tell her you just want your money back payable by Paypal refund. If she cant make it happen call the police. Shouldnt be up to her to fix but if she doesnt want the police at her door then she doesnt have much of a choice

21 is not a child so he deserves more than a slap on the wrist. Threatening to contact the Glendale Police will definitely get her attention and force her to stay on the line as opposed to just hanging up on you (so you have enough time to explain the situation). When I asked for Minder (Chris), she was kinda suspicious and I can hear her over the phone asking Minder who "Ken" is. I'm waiting till tomorrow just to see if his "I shipped Thursday" bullshit pans out since he told mannysgoldglove the same thing when I PM'ed him.

Why wait until tomorrow?
Call now, it's a reasonable hour and talk to his mother...
Who knows where he or his mother will be tomorrow...

Just my 2 cents...

Had a simuliar experience about 3 years ago regarding a collectable Hot Wheels...just took 2 minutes on the phone with mom...

I tried calling the number tonight (around 8 PM PST) and only spoke with a teenage girl named Amber. She said that Christopher didn't live there and neither did his mom (?!). She did confirm that it was the Minder household.

I'm going to try again tomorrow morning and if I don't get a satisfactory answer, my next call is going to be to the Glendale PD.

My Paypal dispute is already pending, but I'll definitely escalate it tomorrow. I doubt he left any money in his account, but there's always the chargeback option. Thank goodness I paid with a credit card.

Hmm, someone called and talked to him earlier today at the same number. If they moved out then it was quick. Im not even going to waste my time with them tomorrow, Im going to call Glendale PD first thing in the morning. Has anyone talked to them yet and have a valid POC?

That's bullshit, I spoke with Chris himself. Don't know if his whole family is in on it or what. Maybe that girl is his friend and playing along.

I've been burned once before (not by this guy) and Paypal didn't do a thing to help me. Don't dispute it through paypal. Use your credit card company's chargeback process! Paypal sucks ass at getting your money back. Unfortunately, it was also the one time I had funds in my paypal account so I just used those to pay. Big mistake because I was out that money.

Never use paypal funds to pay for something. Always use a credit card, even if you've got money in your account! Of course, that doesn't help those of you who were scammed, but it's just some words of wisdom from my experience.
Kendro, mannysgoldglove - did either of you receive anything?
Nope, this guy still owes me a 80 gig Ipod and a 1 gig Ipod shuffle

Sounds like time for a call to the Glendale PD.

If it makes anyone feel better, I'm flying out to Glendale to see family in a little less than 2 months. I have extra rage because he backed out on me when I found out he lived near I-17 and Thunderbird and informed him about my parents living there.

Are you going to stop by his place?

I will try, but you must realize I'm 15 years old and he's 21.

What are you going to do anyway? Say hello to him ? My advice , stay out of this. Let the police deal with it.

Confront him. Maybe even bring the police along

I am calling the GD police today, what is everyone saying to them? Just wanted to see how everyone is explaining the situation.

Just called the Glenndale police, waiting for a call back to explain what happened.

Who else has called the police about Minder. The earlier post is correct, we all need to call the police to nail Minder. He won't be laughing when they come to his door and start inquiring about the merch.

Please post if you have called.

Edit- Just spoke with the GD police. If you have a claim, you have to file at http://www.ic3.gov and after they receive 3 or more complaints, they can open a case. I am going to file a claim with the site as soon as I am done posting this.

No, it doesn't. You just think it does. They just hide the option to use your credit card. You've got to poke around for it. I hate paypal. If there were some other option, I'd use it.
I will try, but you must realize I'm 15 years old and he's 21.
Then why the hell are you even going? Stay out of it, you're too young, and unless you can intimiate him there's no point in going.

This is some bullshit. Im waiting on the Glendale PD to call me back too. Im sure they are going to tell me the same thing so I am filling out the form right now. I think its odd that they dont even care were he got the IPODS from in the first place. Someone called me at 3am, I wonder if it was them.

They called me back about 45 minutes after I called them and left a message. I think I am going to give Mr. Minder a call in a bit. I am in a bad mood so it might cheer me up.

Did Kendro file a claim with www.ic3.gov? We need 3 claims for it to be sent to the GD police. The officer I spoke with said that the ic3 website would send the claims directly to them. I asked if I needed to call back and he said I didn't.

I would call them back and explain you are in Japan, but the ic3 form is the most important.

I also contacted my bank and filed a claim. They are investigating it and will get back to me.

I just listened to my voicemail and it was a woman from the Glendale PD. She did tell me to do the samething. Ive already filled mine out and I PMed the other 3 guys and told them that they should do the same. The woman at the Glendale PD said she doesnt really need to talk to me right away just call back so she knows I got her message.

I'm on it right now (thanks for the PM mannysgoldglove). Hopefully kzoghbi and BigHow are getting in on this too so Glendale PD will haul ass with the case since there are 5 of us. I had mild expectations that he would wisen up and I'd find something in the mail today but so much for that.

Just out of curiosity, was the description you guys gave extra detailed? I'm not leaving anything out, I have all of my PMs saved including emails, times, dates when he "claimed" to have sent the iPod both times, all that good ish, etc.
