Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition - 1600 points

Yeah I hadn't thought of anything to do with pistons until I saw all the youtube videos lol. Got into the Nether last night and got a call, paused the game and took the call. Came back and I was blown up lol. It's cool though, I got a promising job opportunity with that call. Hope it didn't autosave, I powered the system down just in case.

Yes, the skin packs are available to everyone on the console. And probably on a second console if the person who bought them is logged in, but we haven't tested that yet. It's likely, though, since that's how games work and this seems to work the same.

I got the skin pack! Pretty awesome stuff. Normally not into this microtransaction stuff. But Minecraft has put a spell on me.

Here are a couple of things we have worked on.....

I am not the best at beautiful structures and making great buildings, but i like BIG.

This is a huge wall, with tons of torches, and a few glow stone..... well.... its more then a wall...

epl7V.jpg

Inside that wall, is this... all hand dug, patched up caverns and water/lava leaks, all the way to bedrock. this is all the way to max height. HUGE, and lots of hours.
DbDns.jpg

and another angle....
6B6vb.jpg

and one more angle...from the mid top... notice the water in the end, that way people can jump from the top, fall is intense as hell.
TtKCV.jpg

We started this one night and just kept going out, then thought hey, lets make it diamond shapped. I call it the HUGE ASS MOTHER SHIP...this is the preconstruct...
dJvPb.jpg

and near complete, just gotta fill in a bit more glass and glowstone, this thing is beautiful....

Friend started this the other day, can you guess what it is.... ;)

wow, creative mode is where you're at. I don't even think I've mined enough material to do these kind of things...

and is that the millennium falcon?

I sure hope you didn't do all that by yourself.

yep, thats the falcon, hes almost got it done.

no kidding. I've done tons of mining (my mining stats are pretty darn high on the leaderboards) and all I have really built was some bridges, some homes, some tunnels and railways, and some city hall type structure. Makes me sometimes wish I really used the duplication glitch. :p

I ended up getting the free skin pack. I am not going to pay for something that I am just covering up with my Diamond Armor. The black knight face is worth the free download. There are quite a few skins in the Trial Pack - it shows you all of the skins in the main pack, but they are locked from selection. The available ones are the racer skins, the templar knight, black knight and a few other Steve ones - the diving suit is free! I figured the black night's face would look best sticking out of the diamond armor.

If I was still into griefing people on my friends list, I would love the Creeper skin. I used to lay out TNT on people's tracks with pressure plates to create incredible chain reaction explosions that would destroy good portions of their maps. It was a terrible thing to do, but really - you should think twice about allowing anyone to join your game when you've duped two storage bins full of TNT x 64.

As far as where I am in my game, I spent the majority of last night completing my minecart rail to the bottom of the world for lava farming. I accidentally unleashed a flood on the lava pools at the bottom and created a shitton of Obsidian. I don't really need it as I had duped a few storage bins full when I got my first brick of it. Now that I have completed my railway, I will focus on building my Obsidian Skyscraper. At lunch today, I took a picture of a real building that I am going to model the structure of my skyscraper off of. I liked the glass to stone ratio and the design of the building. Here is a photo of the building.

My building will probably end up being taller, but not as wide. If you look at the sides, you can see it isn't a square building, but recesses from the front in a square "step" pattern that could be easily duplicated. The actual building is longer and goes back, but I will just create a symmetric back to the building and make it more of a single tower. I think I will move and start building away from my original setup (the cobblestone castle), maybe even cross map to give myself a new start on the same map with a nice rail system between the two locations.

How do I create snapshots to Facebook? I need to be sharing this stuff.

I think I've got some obsidian I'm not using and I can set one up for you.

Edit: I do. Set one up somewhere near the starting point in my world (I think), so when you want to do it, just message me and we can set it up.

I got tired of watching a bunch of videos that didn't show the skin pack. heck, some of the videos were videos of web pages showing previews of the skin pack!

so I made my own:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjPmlxWGHT0

2:20 the free skins. 2:58 the skins in the real world. master chief wearing armor. 4:17 Banjo. 4:50 Cole Train. 5:22 Cole Train wearing armor. 6:02 creeper. 6:15 creeper with no armor. 6:43 nurse. 7:05 Scientist Wilson from 'Splosion Man. 8:02 Trials rider from Trials HD. 8:30 Ms. 'Splosion Man. 8:55 Prisoner

I was in the same boat as you. Its almost not really a game...I mean you have to research and hunt for resources and then you just build stuff and let you imagination go wild. Almost like having a ton of LEGOs.
I do not understand this game....
Which is the same as me a few month ago. It starts simply, you decide you should build a small cave to hide from monsters. You then decide to add a floor below to mine from. Then you decide to add a floor above to store stuff. Twenty hours later you have a skyscraper with a wall built around your compound, watch towers and even a Concert Hall. Yeah, this game is addicting in the best kinda way.

Ha ha, I think that about sums it up!
Hmmm - I still want to dup more, but it will be even harder once the patch comes out. By the way, my son was still able to dup with the last patch - it is just a little trickier. You have to hold down A (or X) or something while the other player breaks the dispenser and it still dups the one item you are picking up and placing repeatedly. Again, I'm not sure of the details but it is something like that. He's been doing that every day since the last patch. I only ever played once since the last patch (and I backed the patch out so I could dup the old way). I still want to create my underground railway so I need lots of duped stuff (TNT, rail, paintings to put up along the route ;)).
I finally took the time to research this today, and it does indeed still work. Here's a great video explaining how to do it (you don't even need a 2nd person to help you). I'd recommend using a furnace to do it since that uses less resources in case you screw it up.

Does anyone know if clearing the System Cache (removing the updates) will allow for the old 2-person duplication glitch to work?

I know there is a way to do the glitch post updates, but the older version was much easier/faster.

Thanks.

Yeah, you just have to refuse the update and play offline the next time you start up Minecraft. The new glitch is just less of a hassle for me because, like io, I mostly play the game on a secondary console (not the one it was purchased on), so I have to be online. And also, I store my save on the cloud. The new glitch may sound confusing, but once you do it, it's pretty easy. And the fact that you can do it with one controller is nice.

At least they have a tutorial for the 360 version, the PC version was like just figure it out and then a community created a wiki.

here is my football stadium at the moment.. how hard do you think it would be to make a retractable roof with sticky pistons? lol

Yeah, I tried clearing the system cache. It worked like a gem - for a little while. I was able to load my post update world sans all of the items from the update - shears were gone and there was a lot of clipping and issues with the graphics, nothing severe, but certainly noticeable.

I duped a ton of stuff, Obsidian, Wood, Torches, Diamond Block. I had originally intended to dupe colored wool for pixel art/design. I got a shitton of lime wool done, then my 360 froze. I hadn't saved in over an hour of duping and reorganizing storage containers. Son of a bitch. All of it was gone. I connected my 360 back to the ethernet cable and redownloaded the Minecraft updates and went back to my pre-dupe world. I was pretty pissed off that I lost a couple hours of work, but it wasn't honest work and I was neglectful of saving (damn you, Auto-Save for making me feel so safe in the post update). I am all geared up to give it another go, but I may just experiment with the post-update dupe glitch instead.

That's cool but it really doesn't matter to me as if I'm not wearing armor I'm in FP mode. I'm using one of the Hybrid skins atm and I barely see any of it.

I think I'm done with this until they add creative mode. I've mined out about 80% of my small kingdom in order to build my dream but it's still not enough. I'm done mining and foraging.
I haven't gotten the glitch in post 570 (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9818590&postcount=570) to work. what am I doing wrong? I go to break the dispenser and it disappears. It doesn't show up in my inventory afterward.
Here's what I've been doing that works (post patch) using a second controller in split screen:

1. Make a furnace, put one of the item you want to duplicate into the top slot in the furnace.
2. Have one player open the furnace and position the cursor on the item.
3. Have the other player start mining the furnace with the iron pick axe.
4. As soon as you see the crack start to form on the furnace, have the player with the menu open hold A on the item so it places/takes over and over while you keep mining with the second controller until the furnace breaks.

Sometimes it takes a couple tries, but when the furnace breaks and you see two of the item on the ground, one of them will be an infinite stack. For some reason I can usually only get one of the players to pick it up, but once you figure out who has the infinite stack, just use the X button to "place one" on an empty inventory or chest slot until it maxes out at 64. The X button is the only one that will work, don't bother trying to use Y or A, you wont be able to make multiple groups of the item that way.

It's kind of spotty, and slow when you have to fill inventory slot after slot, but it's worked well enough for me to build a 10 story mob grinder, and a monorail system across the entire map. Things I would have never been able to do just by mining because I'd lose patience/interest.

I really hope they add creative mode, because I'd probably be more inclined to take on even more ambitious projects that way.

Are you switching from your pick axe to your sword without letting go of RT? The way I do it is to have my sword directly to the left of my pick axe in my hotbar. Then, when the furnace/dispenser is mostly damaged, I just press LB to switch to the sword. You'll hear a pop like when it does break. That's when you let go of RT, and it should still be there. Then, you press LT on it (as though you're placing something), hover over the item you did put in it, and just hold A. The furnace/dispenser should break and in its place should be a glitched stack.

alright, I'll try your tips on the glitch.

on another note, if you jump into someone's world and start playing with them and putting their items into your inventory, do you have to put the stuff into a chest before you quit out? if I quit while having stuff in my inventory, does that stuff disappear?

I've been putting their stuff back into their chest before quitting because I didn't want to have their stuff disappear. But I was in a rush to leave someone's game and forgot to put the stuff back.

Don't fret it man. Next time you join, you will have all the same stuff and be in the location you left at.

Unless it kills you randomly. I have a friends world that I die every time I spawn in a safe house even.

oh man, you made my day! I was carrying some diamond tools and other stuff when I quit out. If I still have it when I go back to her game, then that's good enough. I was worried that the items would disappear forever.
Finally got my pigs fly achievement. Christ that was annoying.
Did you make a world with the seed "worstseedever"? Cause that's the easy way to get to that achievement, because a random boss spawns in sand and there's a saddle in the chest to use.
