does this work like NHL? those who flake out get kicked out and once everyone left finishes we move onto the playoffs?

Yeah, I'm sure it will take a while. I just did this calculation for comedic purposes, but if everybody (16 people) showed up for the draft and took the full 90 seconds (x 90 sec = 1440 sec) for each pick in all 25 rounds (x 25 rds = 36,000 sec), the draft would take 10 hours, lol. So, uh...yeah, let's try to make our picks as quickly as possible. ;) I'm anticipating the draft taking about 2-3 hours. If anybody doesn't care to spend that long being involved in the draft process, you might want to set up your queue and turn on autodraft.

I have no idea how it works with guys showing up late. You have the 6th pick, so if the first five guys took the full 90 seconds, that would schedule your pick for about 9:07. I would just make sure you've got some kind of queue ready to go, just in case.

Honestly, I don't even want to think about that right now. Nobody here plans on flaking out right?

If it's neccessary, players will be kicked out. I'm assuming it would work the same as last year, where everyone would receive wins for their scheduled games against the dropped player. The league would continue as normal, with less teams.
 
I just hope the controller vibrates when it is your turn, I'm going to try to make it to the live draft and I don't want to have to stare at the screen waiting for my turn the whole time. :lol:

Should be instant. It would be painfully stupid for the game wait 90 seconds to be like "The Giants select..." I know about as much as you guys here, but I can only hope Sony wouldn't be that stupid.

As for this issue, that sounds like the kind of idea that's too smart for Sony to think of doesn't it? Honestly, if everybody has a good idea who they'd like (say top 5 picks for each position), it won't take as long as I'm even anticipating. I mean, if people are paying attention, we could fly through 8-10 picks per minute. That doesn't seem unreasonable. That pace would equate to 2 minutes per round...and 50 minutes for the entire draft. It's all going to come down to how organized guys are, and how often we have to wait the full 90 seconds between picks.

Yeah, I was actually going to compile one earlier, but didn't have time. I don't see any kind of list posted online, so after the Yankee game ends, I'll try to put one together.

Unfortunately, you probably need to look at the rosters without loading a roster update and just list all the FA's there... which could be a lot. I also looks for them online and couldn't find them, AND, I see it doesn't even show you in the draft if they are classified as a FA.

Well, you can press Triangle to view their player card. If there's no team logo in the bottom left corner, they're a free agent. Off the top of my head, the list includes:

Manny Ramirez
Ben Sheets
Ken Griffey Jr.
Frank Thomas
Ivan Rodriguez
Adam Dunn
Andy Pettitte

I'll post a complete list later tonight.

I have a list I made for myself of the first several (63 in think) free agents - once the list got to scrubs I hadn't heard of, I stopped. Hopefully I won't accidentally draft one of them. I used the default rosters. Feel free to use these, and please let me know if I messed something up!

Keith, I just went into "roster control" and told it to reset the roster. The free agent list it showed me didn't have those last 4 guys on your list. But after Mulder was Mark Sweeney (who was the last guy on the list). Both Mike and Mark Sweeney are on there. Other than that, your list is perfect. I'd advise everybody to print Keith's list (and add Mark Sweeney) to have in front of you so you know who NOT to draft.

Manny not being available is actually for the better, the guy is unreal in this game.

No, not really. I'll be there at the live draft. By the way, how do you tell if the auto draft is set to on or not? I have a few guys on queue but I want to basically make picks "live" since I have a hard time deciding on who to queue in anticipation of those players already being picked. For example, I don't want to queue up three 3B and then end up getting all three in a row for each round... does that make sense?

Well, I haven't messed with autodraft myself, but this is what I sent in the messages to you guys earlier today:

If you're not going to be there for the live draft, make sure your queues are set up, and that you turn your autodraft setting on (do this by selecting your name on the draft list, then select autodraft, "turn on").

Your dillemma makes perfect sense because that's exactly where my head is at. I'm not sure how the queue system is even viable because If your top pick gets taken, it's just going to move on to your next "most valuable player", having no regard for position. Or like you said, you could get multiple star players at one position.

This is why if I had been in charge, I would have had people make their top 5 selections at each position, and then rank the positions in order of importance. That way, the game would know which position to go after in each round, (ie. 1. 1B, 2. SP, 3. CF, etc.) and have a pool of players for each position that it knows you want. But again, what do I know? haha :)

I assume once we get to the last few rounds, it'll just start balancing out the roster, but I definitely want more control over my team than that. I don't have anybody queued up right now. If we get to the latter rounds and I can still adjust my queue, I might make some moves then, in anticipation of having the last 5 rounds autodrafted. But other than that, I want to be in control of my team.

Well, enjoy the autodrafted teams. Let's not try to get pissed at who we got. It seems the only way we are gonna get this league started is if we take the teams we got drafted.

The bigger problem will be who gets Manny and Sheets and all those ugys cause of the game.

Also I just restarted the PS3 and still no dice.
