MLB 2K11 CAG League Baseball - Season 2! We Made It! Playoffs! Rd 1 Due by 10/12!
Thank God they're fixing that glitch where a robbed HR counts as both an out and a homer (including the score). Nice to hear about the other stuff, too. Now that PSN is back up, I need to finally open up MLB 11: The Show and compare.
Agreed. Only had it happen to me once I believe and I was on the benefiting end, but that's how I beat Tower actually in the 10th with a 3 run bomb (which was caught). Granted, I had a guy on 3rd with no outs so he would have scored anyways as a sac fly, but still.

Chris, congratulations regarding the baby that is coming. I might be able to play after 10. Are you only planning to get on if we schedule a game?

By the way, for you and everyone else in this league: Part of what keeps me from getting on CAG as much is my computer running slowly. I do get text message notifications when I receive private messages on Facebook, s that is an easy way to reach me.

Thanks!

I just saw this so sorry I haven't responded sooner. I was on for a little bit and didn't see you. I tend to go back and forth with the 360 and PS3 most nights so I may check back in an hour or so.

I'm all about Facebook so (any of you guys) feel free to try this link to add me if that would make it easier to set up a time.

should we try and get more players interested in the league for season 2, with the new upgrade to online play I could see more people enjoying this

I wouldn't be opposed to that, and I did have a couple guys contact me earlier in this season asking about jumping on for a 2nd season. But at the end of the day, I'd rather have 8 dedicated guys than 10-12 guys that I have to harrass and beg to play their games. Being able to finish the league is what makes it fun.

brewers pitching implodes while their batting explodes (prince hit 3 homers hart hit 2 homers), too bad my pitching was as bad as it gets, bring on next season I need a healthy pitching staff

So it looks like three teams are tied at 5-5, the Rockies, the Mets and the Braves. Only two shall pass into the shadow and fire of the playoffs. I think there are two games left on the schedule, so I'll be curious to see how the game decides.

Also LOL at 2K for choosing Chris Young as the Player of the Game, after allowing 6 runs in five innings. Ummmm OK. This in a game with 24 combined runs and 35 hits.

Regarding a second season, as much as I've enjoyed it I think I may have to pass just because I have a new baby due in less than a month and will be working a second job while my wife stays at home for the rest of the year. Needless to say my time to play anything (much less online) will probably be non-existent. I have enjoyed it though and hope to get my games with Matt in any night now so we can get the playoffs started. So Nate if you have a reliable player waiting in the wings feel free to give them a head's up about an opening for season two.

That's understandable Chris. I cut down on gaming for a while when my son was born two years ago. Eventually though my wife went back to work, I got my current job, and we found some part-time day care to take some of the burden off my (I work nights). You'll be back playing eventually.

Hey Matt you wanna get our games in either tonight or some time tomorrow? I'm off tomorrow and could plan my errands around a time then if you couldn't do it tonight.

Yes, that sounds good. If we can't match up tonight, I will indeed be home and able to play tomorrow during the afternoon, Pacific time. I will add you now on Facebook so I'll receive any messages on my phone.

As far as season 2 goes, I know I've been really bad about getting on the forums/XBL during the second half of this season, but I would certainly like to be a part of a second season. FrankySox had mentioned wanting to play, but I have no idea if he'd still be interested.

Well all the games are done now. Me and Matt split with me getting to his bullpen in the 9th to come back in game one and him dominating me in game two (we got disconnected in the 8th but he was up 6-0).

Looking forward to the playoffs!

According to the site, looks like the 4 playoff teams are:

1
t26.png
Boston Red Sox * 0.800 - 0 2
t27.png
New York Yankees 0.700 1.0 0 3
t14.png
New York Mets 0.500 3.0 0 4
t1.png
Colorado Rockies 0.500 3.0 0

So I'm the odd man out it looks like. Oh well. Probably for the better with the moving and crap going on right now. Now to get ready for season 2.

I'm guessing, and bear in mind that it's 2K, so there's no way to know if it's true, that head to head matchups played a part in it. Of course, it could just be a random roll of the dice.

Good job getting those games in Matt and Chris! Personally, I'm really impressed that every game this season was played pretty much on time. I know Chris got behind for a few days, but he caught back up pretty quick. And technically, we finished a week early. I hope everybody has enjoyed it so far. We could have had all 8 teams make the playoffs, but I figured that would render the regular season mostly pointless.

Playoffs series are a best of 3. So, I'm not sure if people will be able to get them done in one sitting, but hopefully we can still finish a series in one week. You must use at least 3 different starting pitchers in the series. I want to say your other 2 starters CAN be used as relievers if you want (since that's how most real teams would function), but without fatigue, I don't know how we should handle it (ie. your #4 starter probably shouldn't pitch the 6th & 7th inning in all 3 games). I'm open to suggestions on that one.

Season 2 should almost feel like a brand new game, with updated rosters and a full season with the new patch. People will be allowed to switch teams and we'll have to find a replacement for Chris, but we can discuss that more once the playoffs are closer to being over. Other than that, good luck to the final four teams as we search for our first MLB 2K11 CAGLB champion!

I think that teams should have to list their starters for each series, and that no starter can pitch on back-to-back days. Pretty simple I think.

Yeah, not a bad idea. So, to clarify, you're saying even #4 and #5 starters used in relief can't pitch in back to back games? I agree with that...as long as we can keep up with it. Listing your rotation is also a good idea. I would have preferred that even for the regular season. I just wasn't sure how well it would work with the flex scheduling and rotations not saving properly (was this fixed with the patch?) It should be easier for fixed series though.

To jumpstart that idea, here's my 3 man rotation.

1. CC Sabathia
2. AJ Burnett
3. Phil Hughes

Also, I'm looking at the pitcher stats on the website, and it looks like Matt started Gavin Floyd three times (it appears he took one of John Danks starts). Fortunately, he lost the extra game he pitched in anyway, so it technically doesn't factor into anything. But I just wanted to see if there was a reason this happened.

Wow. I just stumbled upon this feature while browsing the Administrator options on the website and a forum post explaining it from 2 years ago.

MLB - Stamp Pitching Rotation
*TURN ON STAMPED PITCHING ROATION*
For more information on what "Stamp Pitching Rotation" is, click here
Glad this was completely buried and not mentioned at all for this year's game, haha.

EDIT - Aw, son of a bitch! I can also create divisions in this "League Options" menu that is only accessible through the website and is only visible while I'm logged in. And I can just assign the teams to those divisions. I won't do anything now because I don't want to potentially screw up the playoff allignment. But damn, season 2 is going to be bad ass, lol.

EDIT 2 - Motherfucker. I can also reset rotations if they're wrong and clear lineup data to fix networking issues (apparently it can get corrupted and cause games to drop at the matchup screen). Also, I can re-sync teams if anyone's record isn't showing up right. Geez, 2K...ya might want to advertise these ridiculously extensive league options. I never would have imagined that I could control this much.

This should be my first three (I haven't played since my last game, which was like weeks ago), assuming my roster hasn't changed:

De La Rosa
Ubaldo
Chacin

If for some reason Cook is off the DL and available, I'll probably sub him in over Chacin.

Gotta love having a rotation with 4 real starters and a long reliever as the fifth.

I already told Nate this the other night, but I'm planning on switching to the Rays for Season 2. Too many injuries kill any fun I'd have playing with the Mets.

Should be a way to have full rosters and not have to deal with not having players cause they are on DL irl.

edit: btw can we have 2 divisions and name one "waffle" and the other "pancake"

Yeah it'd be nice, but on the other hand it does add some level of complexity to it.
I figured there was a setting you missed
Well, that's a nice way to put it.

Call me a traditionalist, but they'll probably be some variant of "American" and "National".

The Stamp Pitching Rotation feature doesn't automatically select the right starter when you start up the game, which defeats half the purpose IMO.

True. I was more thinking of it for next season and if we decide to actually post pitching rotations. At the least, it sounds like it would inform you of who SHOULD be pitching, that way you'll know who you're facing ahead of time. It might be worthless, but just something to think about.

Hmm...I'm not sure why, but right now I'm not seeing a way to advance us to the playoffs. I checked all the "manage schedule" and whatever options under the Admin settings. I sent a message to 2K support about it, but I'm half wondering if I'll need to actually create two divisions so the game knows who to match up (not sure if it's smart enough to do #1 vs #4, #2 vs #3). Hopefully I'll hear something soon.
Hey everyone glad to see you league went well & good luck with season 2. I would join but I flipped the game already....

Anyhow n8rockerasu, try this http://2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=204907
Thanks, seen! That helped. I ended up having to do the second set of steps first (I guess because we used flex scheduling). Everything is good now though, and we're officially advanced to the playoffs! :)

Oook...for whatever reason, Jstryke did make the playoffs and Alan (moojuice) didn't...even though the website "playoff race" still shows Alan with the #4 seed. That's more like it, 2K. That's the kind of "sports logic" I expected from a video game company. I'm trying to figure out what kind of tie breaker they could have possibly used because apparently it wasn't head to head.

Anyway, I guess that's might slow us down a bit with Jstryke moving...unless you guys could get those games in tonight (don't worry if you can't). I know Jstryke didn't anticipate missing too many days, but we can wait either way. Online leagues are always a learning experience for everyone. I'm just happy this one at least works. Season 2 should be much improved on all fronts.

Run differential maybe?

I was actually going to call myself out for that one since I noticed it after we had finished. I thought I had started Danks against you in our second game when I apparently started Floyd. I just made a mistake.

The games with Chris were fun except for the part where Matt Thornton blew the first game like in real life. In an interesting bit of symmetry, my 2 wins were in the first and last games of the season and by beating Boston at Fenway, I ended up with 1-4 records both at home and on the road, and Chris ended up 4-1 both home and away.

EDIT: No idea if this is the case, but Madden used to determine tiebreakers alphabetically. If they do that and go by team name and not city name, that would explain the situation.

Shenanigans!!!

Just kidding, it doesn't really make that big of a difference. I'm honestly happy to see we got through a season on our first try without losing anyone. Just hope my roster is better next season >_>

Oh well, best of luck to everyone. Its probably for the best since I haven't even played this game since...whoever I played last lol. I think it was the Phillies back at the beginning of May or the end of April.

That's weird. And moo, you aren't the only one who hasn't played in a while. I did some my player mode, but I don't think I had a full game in two, possibly three weeks either. If it makes you feel any better, I have yet to beat Chris.

As for my moving situation, we move first thing tomorrow morning, but I work an 8 hour closing shift, so I won't even be down in PA until Sunday afternoon at some point. Not sure how everything will be once I get down there. Place we're moving too already has internet, and I'm assuming it's at least DSL. Plus, I'll be visiting family Monday for Memorial Day. I figure if nothing else, I'll maybe try to be up and running by Tuesday provided all is well.

As for my lineup, I think we'll go with:

1) Tim Hudson
2) Tommy Hanson
3) Derek Lowe

Just an update. I have made it to Pennsylvania yesterday and I set up my xbox on my desk (since my entertainment center is trash). Played some rounds of Halo last night and my connection seems to be good as well. I don't exactly want to say what times I'll be on since I have to unpack some stuff still and we plan on setting up the pool this week (plus a cookout today), but I can say this much at least. I am on "vacation" for the next two weeks at least since the store I'm transferring to isn't open yet, so anytime I am on, I should be free.

So as far as scheduling a time goes, Chris, if you have any preference, and I'll see what I can do. Otherwise, I know 10pm seems to normally work for you so if nothing else we can probably shoot for that.

Yeah that will probably be best. Pretty much any night should work, but I'm working on finishing up my fourth season of RTTS in The Show so I haven't been on my 360 for a few nights. But if I know what night might work for you I can easily get on.

Damn... 4 full seasons of RTTS in less than 3 months? I wish I had that kind of attention span. I never seem to complete single player seasons in baseball games.

Yeah I do it the cheap way though. Absolutely no fielding or base running for this guy!

But yeah, it's still a lot I must admit. :)

It's hard to predict when / how long I'll be on during the days since our roommate normally has a friend over and he's trying to generally make me more productive as a person, but if nothing else, I'll at least normally be on at night.
