MLB 2K11 CAG League Baseball - Season 2! We Made It! Playoffs! Rd 1 Due by 10/12!
Well I picked quite the opportune time to hit my first HR. Tied at 1 in the eighth against the Rockies I got a couple of guys on and decided to pinch-hit David Ortiz for Jarrod Saltalamacchia. The Rockies then brought in Lindstrom and I crushed the first pitch for a three-run shot. I couldn't believe it. It seemed like every move I made actually worked the way I envisioned it, including bringing in Okajima to face a lefty with men on and getting an inning-ending double play in the seventh.
Heh, after the game ended, one thought that went through my mind was "Wow, that game totally could have passed for a real life game if we weren't so free-swinging."

After that clutch pinch hitting home run, I wasn't even angry/mad/disappointed. We both made moves that a manager would have made in that situation and it just so happened you made the better move.
I am the Phillies and can play pretty much any time tomorrow if you have time.
That's cool. I'm actually off tomorrow and after running some errands in the morning I could hop on anytime between 1:00 - 4:00 and then again probably around 10:00. If there's an exact time you want to shoot for just let me know.

Yeah it was weird having him on the bench but I guess I'm glad he was there for me then. Was it just me or was there a time when you got a hit that might could have been a double but it cut right to the next AB without me even getting the ball in?

And no matter how many games I play I feel like I can't even make contact until the 2nd or 3rd inning due to having to swing just the slightest bit early when online.

That sounds vaguely familiar, but I can't really remember. One occurrence that does stand out to me though is when Herrera would have had an infield hit on a wild throw to first that pulled Youkalis off the bag, but for some reason, Herrera went for two bases and Youkalis tagged him out with a glitchy motion. I know for sure I didn't send him to second since I thought he was out anyways before the throw.
I'm absolutely loving playing in this league. It may help that I've been lucky to have a 3-1 record so far, but it looks like most games are close and could go either way and at least for me it seems to always come down to one inning where I'm able to string together a few hits as opposed to a constant HR derby.
Yeah, I still feel like this game is a much better representation of the sport than The Show. I remember some of the older 2K games that were a bit of a HR derby, and that just sucked the realism out of the game. Especially online, this game feels like it's all about timely hitting and putting together a few solid at bats in a row. I've lost my last two games because I just made mistake pitches at the wrong time and my opponent made me pay...not with a 3 run blast, but with a double to the gap...which led to my pitcher being rattled...which led to the next batter driving him in.

I don't think any baseball game has ever been able to capture that part of the sport. The way things unravel in a hurry and you're actually forced to pitch "scared" because your reliever isn't ready yet. That's such a solid foundation to build on. Most people don't realize how close this game is to being perfect baseball. A lot of the "glitches" could probably be patched this year if they really tried. At the least, MLB 2K12 should be ridiculous. Really glad I made the jump to 2K this year. It completely refreshed my interest in baseball.

Posting this a day early since I'm going out of town. Everybody has played their fourth game already, so we're right on schedule. Keep up the great work, and make sure you only use each starting pitcher twice. If you accidentally lock in your line up before you can check it and don't have the guy pitching that you want, you CAN quit out of the game before the first pitch is thrown and it won't count (just explain to your opponent what you're doing). Again, the easiest way to avoid this is for the home team to always press "start" to enter the line up screen.

Anybody want to try getting a game in tomorrow morning? I was thinking between 9 - 11 am EST (plan to be on the road by noon myself). I figure it's a bit of a long shot, but figured I'd try since I couldn't play much this past week thanks to crazy work hours.

Just a heads up, but apparently my internet went down sometime today and my dad thinks something may be wrong with the modem. He was talking with a tech today and they claim they'll have a new one out by Wednesday. Considering the BS we had to deal with from them when we moved here a year ago, I'm not holding my breath.

Pretty sure I'm good through next week (think I've played 6 so far), but that's the situation for the moment.

Split a great pair of games with the Rockies (moojoiced). Got 8 innings of two hit ball from Jon Niese in the opener, winning 2-0. In Game 2, with the game tied at three with two outs in the ninth, Jose Morales took a high inside fastball from Bobby Parnell and blooped it just over the first baseman, scoring the winning run from third. Great game, it was a real battle.

Right now I have the Brewers, Red Sox and Yankees on my plate, so getting to the playoffs is going to be a challenge at 4-3.

Wow. Maybe you did go all the way to Newark to get Brandon's game. "Hey, pal. Can I get some moojoice ova heye?" ;)

The ending to the second game was just nuts. I said it before, but man, maybe two inches lower, and that bloop hit probably would have been caught for extra innings.
so I have 2 games against white sox left, 1 game against atlanta, 1 game against the mets left
I'll be around 3pm cst - 10pm cst wed and fri, I'd like to finish up my games, hope Matt isn't mia cause I'd like to just knock out a double header with him
I will be around for most of today and tomorrow if anyone I need to play wants to get a game in. I am the Phillies.
Any idea how long you'll be around tomorrow? No promises, but I'm hoping my internet is back up tomorrow. (Braves)

I'll probably be on tonight and tomorrow, we should get our second game in.

Got most of my errands done today so tomorrow should just be a relaxed day. If you have a time in mind I should be able to be around.

Yo... tomorrow between 5-5:30 P.M. Central time or any time after that can be done if you want to set up a time today.
how has the online play been lag wise?
Zero lag. The swing timing is a little different from offline (less time to read pitches), but it's completely smooth. Just something that takes a couple innings to adjust to if you've been playing a lot offline. The game is a lot of fun though.

Just to let you all know, my internet is back up as of 30 minutes ago. Should be available all day today and until 2:30 pm EST or so tomorrow.

I have no idea who I have to play a second time, but I know I have yet to play the White Sox, Mets, or Phillies.

If any of you guys want to get a game in tonight I can be on around 10:30 PM EST.

@ Chicago White Sox
@ Philadelphia Phillies
New York Mets
Chicago White Sox
@ Atlanta Braves
Philadelphia Phillies

looks like you need white sox x2 and phillies x2

Another god game with Red. Had some fielding blunders early getting used to the controls again, but after that it was smooth sailing. Mike Minor had a major performance striking out 14 of the 18 batters he faced in a combined 2 hitter. Both hits were home runs by Rickie Weeks (one of the inside the park variety).

For the Braves, Uggla and McCann had solo home runs as well although the big star was Nate McClouth tearing up the base paths. 2 for 3 with a walk and a K, but 4 stolen bases upping his total of the season to 6.

He didn't. I had the two solo home runs, and if i have the right names, Gonzalez had that double to knock in McCann for my third and final run.

Alright redworm- I am back at home now. Just responding to a few messages and such and then I can get on. I'll send you a message via Xbox.com if you're already on XBL.

Kinda have been wanting to play Nate after watching the White Sox/Yankees the last 2 nights (not because of the results; just the fact that they're opponents) but Maybe another day. Nate and Chris, I do have some stuff to do tonight but can possibly play one of you guys later on tonight, or if either of you want to set up a double header for tomorrow, that would be fine.

Great games with theredworm. Both were very even. In the first game, my pitching again imploded in the 8th inning and Milwaukee got a ton of hits along with a couple runs to win it. Baserunning blunders and dropped balls on both sides, along with men left on base. Konerko's solo shot was Chicago's only run.

Second game, the Brewers scored in the first inning and then both teams were pretty much deadlocked from there on out, which was bad for me since I couldn't score. The White Sox now have 5 losses, all by 1 or 2 runs.

Milwaukee Brewers 3, Chicago White Sox 1

Milwaukee Brewers 1, Chicago White Sox 0

Nate/Chris: Offer is still good for a double header with at least one of you dudes tomorrow if you want to set something up.
I just have one game left with the Mets then it is time to watch the playoff race.

Hopefully next season I have Zach Greinke.....
Maybe Sunday night otherwise some other time.

I'd like to play you tonight, Matt. But depending on how the hockey team decides to do our playoff run, I might not have time. Sorry, I can't really commit to anything before 10 PM EDT because I've got a lot going on today. I'm sure we'll get the games played though.

No problem. I know it is playoff time and scheduling games has been more difficult with Alan and Rob both working more frequently/different hours. Once I saw that MLB Network was broadcasting the Yankees game, I figured you might be watching that- which would have been much more enjoyable for you than for me given the 12-4 beating Chicago took.

Not a bad week last week. Looks like a lot of games were played. chriscolbert has fallen behind the pace though and did not get his 5th game played. We need to see a little more effort from you, Chris (I see your post above...just stating the obvious). I'm not going to start with any hard enforcement of the deadlines yet, but if you stay behind the pace week and become the final person holding the league up, you could see some decisions made against you. I'd hate to do that because as it stands, you're in 1st place, and that would be a crappy way to lose the division lead.

Everybody else has 6 games played already and has met next week's minimum. It would be great if we could all get ahead so we could skip a game deadline (ie. go from 6 games to 8 games) to get things moving a little quicker. But without question, one game a week needs to be played. The playoff race is incredibly tight, with six teams within 1 game of each other in the standings, all of whom have played at least 7 games. These final games should be crazy!

I've jumped on the past couple of nights but either nobody has been on or they were playing NHL 11. I'm going to get on now and stay on for a while in hopes that someone will be available.

Which is why it would probably be a bit more prudent to set something up ahead of time. As for the guys playing NHL 11, you just caught them at a bad time. The last 4-5 days of each month is when EA does its playoffs, so we had a championship to defend. (which we did...OH YEAH!)

But to help your cause, for the guys who need to play chris, when can you play? Hopefully he can get some games scheduled this coming week.

I feel like I've made an effort since that's how I've completed the games i have played so far, but obviously not enough here in the last week or so. I'm all about doubleheaders too whenever I play the Phillies and White Sox since I have to play them twice.

Going to dinner tonight, but I can start a game until about 6 tonight, tomorrow I'll be good except between 7-10 pm and Monday I think I'm free whenever. Times EST.

All I need to play is the Phillies and I think the Red Sox yet.
I can play tomorrow night any time after 7 MST. (Phillies)
I should be on around 10:00 - 10:30 EST tomorrow night (which if I'm up on my MST that should coincide with you) if you want to shoot for a game or two.

Finally got a game in w/DarkTower last night. I got out to an early lead and held on for 5-4 victory despite him drilling three homers.

If anyone that needs to play the Red Sox (Braves, White Sox, Mets, Phillies) can get a game in either tonight or tomorrow around 10:00 or 10:30 PM EST let me know. I won't be available mid-week so I really need to get this week's game in and hopefully more.

Chris, I have some things to do tonight and I'm starting to feel kind of shitty from going all last night without sleep (don't do that much anymore) but would you like to do our 2 game set (White Sox)tomorrow night? It is CAG hockey night, but I doubt I'd be missed and 2 games of MLB might take an hour and a half at most.

That would be awesome, but I think everyone else has ditched me for hockey at some point so it's not that big a deal if you wanna do that. :D

I mean it's ultimately your call because this is the only game I play online so if you'd rather wait for a conflict-free night then I can probably get one in with someone else.

Well tonight, it's mostly the lack of sleep. and general fatigue. Hockey nights start at varying times depending on who can get on and when, and they usually last for a long time. And as I said, I haven't been around for them lately as is, so no one will miss me for an hour to an hour and a half. Besides, your other opponents are on the hockey team as well.

Very well then. I could get started anytime as early as probably 9:45 PM EST or as late as 1:00 AM. Let me know when in that range works best for you and we'll shoot for it.

Don't think I'm up for it tonight (and for all I know you're playing Matt tonight), but are you going to be around tomorrow Chris? No big deal if you aren't though. Pretty sure you're the only game I have left before possible playoffs.

I never saw Matt get on tonight but I may stick around for another 30 minutes or so.

I'm actually off the next two days and might have some time in the afternoon if that works for you. Probably between 1:00 - 3:00. My wife and I are driving a few hours down to Raleigh tomorrow night to see Interpol as one last real date night before kid #2 gets here next month, so I won't be around in the evening.

Here's my two-day forecast as I see it:

Wednesday - Between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM
Thursday - Between 1:00 PM and 4:30 PM / 10:00 PM and 1:00 AM

If anyone wants to quasi-schedule a time let me know!
