Thank you Reds! Took down the Cards and now you're working on the Brew Crew for us! Cubs escaped with a 5-3 win in St. Louis tonight. Glad to see Big "Z" finally earning his keep. Too bad Dempster almost blew it. He's been worthless as a closer lately. Cubs should move Marmol to the closer spot.

WOO-HOO! The Yankees just scored a bunch of runs and are now beating the Red Sox 8-7 in the 8th with 1 out and A-Rod on second.

Finally got out of that inning. If this gets tied, the Red Sox pen is in trouble.

Why wasn't delcarmen used...wtf was timlin, mr let inherited runners score, doing in the game...I fucking hate francona and his use of the bullpen.

And he's not the one thats set to lose the game, Okie Dokie just got rocked and Paps didn't do much better, though he got them out of the inning.

Stupid Cardinals falling off the wagon. Oh well, can't complain too much I guess.

Of all the Cardinals to have tied to a scandal, it has to be the player with the most fragile psyche in MLB ... :(

oki should be not brought in either...going into the game 5 er in the last 10 outing for him. Including tonight 9 er in the last 10 outings. Lopes is a lefty specialist (ie on batter) and he faced 3 batters tonight. It is just poor management that against mediocre teams the sox have gotten away with it. Delcamen and snyder have both pitched very well this season. Snyder is the pitcher that should be coming in the 6th inn, timlin should be regulated to mop up roles, or clean inn. They had there only 2 lefties in the bullpen relieving each other. What if the yanks tied it, instead of taking the lead, and they needed a lefty pitcher in the 9th or 10th inn. You can't argue you need to play to win now, as if that was the case, mr over 50% of inherited runners score on him wouldn't have been pitching with the bases loaded.
At least Philly also lost :)
yeah that night....

I cant believe we lost 6th straight to the phillies...WHA DA fuck happend......Glavine pitched well but hats off to Moyer...that guy pitched great too.

EDIT: how come my FU wasn't censored?

Poor Royals. Looked like they had a win over the Indians and C.C. Sabatia then their bullpen gave it away. I'd like to see them finish ahead of the White Sox.

The Sox are falling apart. How many more games are they going to lose in the 8th? They need to wake the fuck up because tieing the Yankees this year won't do the trick, and they will lose the division. Theres a good chance we would make the playoffs even if we managed to lose most of the next games, but thats not acceptable.

We were up, what? 12.5+ games just a few months ago? Now after the Yankees are done pwning the Orioles they are going to be a whopping 2.5 behind us. Sad.

Looks like I'll be in full fledged Yankees outfit at the end of this season as I bet with my co-workers if the Sox managed to lose first place.

it is amazing how much the sox have sucked recently. 10 ip from the bullpen and 10 earned runs. Not having manny is starting to really hurt the sox, and my fantasy league team dammit..time to switch all my attention to the pats...Even though we are sucking ass, we could go 6 - 4, and the yanks would have to go 9 - 2 to tie the division

Damn the Brew Crew and Cubs are tied again! 10 games to go this is going to be a crazy finish. I think the Astros just rolled over for the Brewers this week while the Reds are still playing like they're in a pennant race.

I think the Mets have played worse recently though.

the mets never had a 10 or so game lead.  Granted the mets aren't playing good either.

Mets did have 7 and 8 game leads and have lost 8 in a row to Philly. There bullpen and been almost as bad as Boston's lately. Just saying they are playing very bad as well.

I'm going to be disappointed if the Braves miss again, but it won't hurt so bad seeing the Mets not make it either.

Come on Tigers, leave them both out!

Tigers are done. They better not re-sign Pudge unless he takes about a 50% pay cut. If A-Rod's available, they should definately make a move for him. Jack Wilson, too. They desperately need to get rid of Bonderman, maybe even Robertson.

At the rate Boston is playing Seattle (11 games left) and Detroit (9 left) both still have a chance to make the playoffs as the Sox have 9 games left and neither teams are playing the Sox.

The Yankees are now only 1.5 games behind.

Panic button anyone??

j/k. As long as the Sox at least make the playoffs you never know what might happen... Look at the Cardinals, they just about coughed up the division to the Astros and won the frickin' world series!

Good point. I am only hitting the panic button because I have to wear Yankees drab at work on my day off going around shouting "Theeee Yankees win!" if they take first place at the end of the season.

What seemed like a safe bet months ago has turned into a nightmare but it will get all my co-workers a good laugh at my expense.

With all the Sox injuries and the bullpen falling apart things are looking real grim.

anyone else see that bs call in the cubs game, how can you rob dunn of his one moment of glory as an outfielder like that

please dont remind me. we even dropped two straight to the Nats...Our bullpen has been god awful latley. Im really worried about Maine. He is having a tulmultuous second half and giving up 5+ runs up the Nats with a 4 run lead...killed me. I really think he is fatigued. I hope tonight's win can turn around a horrible streak.

I saw it and as a Cubs fan admit he got ripped however the outcome of the inning was exactly the same. The only difference is Murton gets credited with a hit. Even if the play is correctly called a catch Theriot still scores from 3rd on a sac fly. Dunn still got the out by throwing out D. Lee.

Yup. Theriot was on 3rd, not Henry Blanco. No way Dunn goes home with that.
So how much can i say the Mets suck right now! well let me tell ya.....
I can't believe they blew a 3 run lead......TWICE!!!

Yep and not to mention randolph uses Feliciano against lefties only again...I would have him in relief after they took our glavine. The offense is booming..but the pitching is dead and so is the defense. and fuck the Phils are only 1.5 GB. So again let me tell ya how much they suck and how trading Royce Ring and Heath Bell was a gigantic mistake.

And Brian Bannister and not resigning Bradford. Also Willie cannot manage a bullpen. This has been a problem with him since day one.

Damn looks like the Cardinals have officially quit on the season after getting throttled by the Astros. This means they'll probably lay down for the Brewers next week.
Braves are 4.5GB in the East, but have a shot.
yeah seriosly..with the way the mets been playing..its the braves best shot

oh yeah agreed 100%. why keep putting sosa out there if he constantly gets smacked...same with the other two(shoenweiss, mota) although Showenweiss is not as bad as the other two. yeah thow in Brian Bannister as mistake #2 of trading a solid young starter..number 1 being you know who. I like Willie alot...but boy do i miss Bobby Valentine.

this is a video of my friend Josh's Uncle. He will tell ya whats it like to be a Met Fan.

This was an epic Blue Jays/Yankees game. After a rain delay, it took 5 hours to finish. And it wasn't a pitcher's duel. Those get boring. It was offense all the way!

I just hope to God the Sox can match each Yankees win, and atleast try to win when the Yankees lose/if they lose. Neither team has much execuses if they lose considering the teams they are playing. I don't care if we win the division by one or five games, as long as they win the division.

No matter what, win the division or not, I just hope they don't end up playing the Indians. I am more afraid of the Sox playing the Indians, than the Angels.

Also, the Red Sox are the 1st team to clinch a playoff spot and are back to being the top team in MLB. With 7 games to go, if the Red Sox go 3-4, the Yankees have to go 6-2 to win the division, the Yankees have an extra game. And if Aaron Hill makes the play in the bottom of the 9th, the Sox would be on the verge of clinching the East. All the Sox have to do is win the next 2 series, and the division is theirs.

the indians concern me the most. We manhandle the angels. The problem is the yanks suck ass vs the angels, and they are ok vs the indians. Would we rather play the yanks in the 2nd round, or the angels. As much as the indians concern me, if the sox end up with the best record, they dictate the break schedule. That way we can set it up knowing we don't have to play carmona and sabithia both 2x in the series. I would rather take a shot playing them in the first series, and then play the angels in the 2nd round.

Congrats to the Cubs.
As a Brewer fan I can take solace in the fact that this slide should cost Yost his job. That should really help going forward.

you are not a brewers fan, the umps are handing this division to the cubs and as a brewers fan you should try watching the games and seeing that a series full of blown calls is what has cost the brewers this division, not yost. Blaming yost is something a bandwagon fan would do. The brewers are a better team at half the price. So as my finals words, you cubs fans enjoy the continuation of your inability to do anything in the playoffs "losers in real life, losers as fans"
you're not the yankess, you cant buy a championship have fun with your short lived success cuz the brewers are easily taking the division next year

I've only been watching the scores not the games (Brewers & Braves). Have the calls really been that bad? I am a die-hard Cubs fan but I'm glad the division has come down to us and Milwaukee. I can respect the Brew Crew because they have some incredible young talent. That lineup is as deadly as any in the league save the Yankees. As long as it's not the fuck ing Cardinals winning the central. If the Cubs win this thing (not a done deal yet especially given our history) hopefully we can take the momentum into the playoffs and do something with it. If the Brewers come back and we tank then my hat is off to the Crew. No need to be a little bitch about it. Every team gets bad calls but in the course of a game or series they generally even out.

 Wow. I'd bother if I though it'd do any good.
