I can finally break my silence on this thread with a big exhale.....whew!!

Now lets go Cubbies!....Let's do some good!
I'm with ya... C'mon Cubbies!
I will not comment on the Mets at this time as I am so disgusted with there play.
i feel ya. Today is the end of the mets. I will still believe in Tug's Ya Gotta Believe but..fuck it. They dont want to win and thats that.
Pretty upset about the Bucholz situation but not much you can do about it.
I would think Buchholz would be available in the world series if they really needed him, if somebody important got hurt. As of now he's shut down, but the situation changes if someone like Papelbon or Beckett gets hurt. Never say never.

I'm glad they're being cautious with their young pitchers, look at Anibal Sanchez, Josh Johnson, Francisco Liriano, etc. So many pitchers are getting ruined by overuse early in their careers.
smb you troll
You're the idiot who's permanently attached to the end of Bonds's johnson. If anyone is trolling up the board, it's you and your Barry love-a-thon.

hey mark ecko i got 2 words for you, as does agent zero

 Spend 8 figures a year on a guy in his mid-40s who offers little to a team outside of homeruns, or throw that money to a handful of up and comers who can help build a team and give them a shot at the playoffs for years to come (see: The AL playoff picture). Tough call.

I hope the Cubs have their plan tickets ready for the NL West winner's ballpark, unless of course the Mets or Phillies somehow take the WC. How'd they do at Arizona/San Diego/Colorado?

Also, will the Cubs even host a series if the manage to win the divisional series (assuming the WC winner wins the other series)? Or is it always the team with the better record hosts?

Finally the Yankees have been dethroned in the AL East. Now do you rest your best players, except Youk and Manny (they need to start atleast) or do you keep them playing in hopes of getting the best record in baseball?

I don't think it matters right now for best record in the AL...first or 2nd, the sox are going to be playing the angels. Most likely clevand is going to pick the 8 day series, and the red sox most likely would have gone with the 7 day series so it really doesn't matter as there is no competitive advantage to play the better players. As for buckholtz, do you really believe he was going to be on a 25 man roster. Most of the weei sports team don't even have him in contention. As you look at

1. 1b youk
2. 2b pedroia
3. 3b lowell
4. ss lugo
5. of drew
6. of crisp
7. of ramirez
8 c varitek
9. dh ortiz
10. sp beckett
11. sp schilling
12. sp dice k
13. sp wakefield
14. rp pablebon
15. rp delcarmen
16. rp timlin
17. rp oki
18. rp gagne
19. bench heinske
20. bench kielty
21. bench cora
22. bench mirabelli
23. bench ellsbury
24. rp tavarez (yes everyone thinks he is a show in for the roster)
25 its a toss up between snyder, lester, and the lefty lopez...most don't think lester will come out of the pen. While buckholtz has looked good, he hasn't played much...2 or 3 outings in a couple weeks. I know he is down now with shoulder issues, but that was just recently announced. Personnally I don't get why they need 3 back up of. Kielty has been horrible before and after we got him. Heinske has had so few ab's this year, he never got into any grove and is pretty much a guaranteed out. I would imagine he is around 200ab now, and he has played a lot in the past month with youk hurting. I would leave kielty off the roster and take both snyder and lopez. Maybe not in the first series, but defintly if/when we play in the alcs. I know wake has the wins this year, but he had a high 1 era in late may/june. He had a series of 0 - 1 run games in mid aug and his era is still fucking horrible. I would rather see a lefty starter and have lester, but I really don't think they will do that to wakefield. (4.8 era). I know lester has on occassion not made it out of the 4th ip, but his era is still 4.72 and lower the wake's. I think the biggest decision the management needs to make, is who is the #2 starter. Schilling of dice K. Both pitchers, imo, should only go 6ip regardless of pitch count as they both have been lit up over the past month going past the 6th inn.

BTW did anyone watch that Mets game today? I saw on the highlights that they almost got into an all out brawl. What was that all about?

I know this is sort of a late thougth but I just realized it... How ironic is it that the Cubs clinched the division thanks to Greg Maddux pitching for the Padres.

well if the redsox manage to pull out a win, and clevand loses tonight regardless of tmro's action I believe the redsox will get the choice in post seasons scheduling. The sox were 5 - 2 vs the tribe so i believe they would get the nod to decide the scheduling.

The NL race is nuts. 4 teams in contention for the wild card. (The rockies would need some help, but it is possible) 2 team fighting it out in the east. I don't know if it is possible, but I would love to see a NL east 1 game showdown, with the loser not making the playoffs. Then again the mets were beaten badly by the phils (roughly 6-12) this year.
I am a mets fan and was so amped the way john maine pitched...he was not fooling around...
all i can say is aw inspiring..Also i hate Paul Hoover. We coulda had our first No hitter. I pray Jason Bergman pitches his little heart out tomorrow. if we win and they lose. we are win. I dont want to play monday. Ive had enough heart attacks today.
goatcheese if bonds signs with watever team you like i expect you boycott.
I heard Buster Onley from Baseball Tonight saying there's a chance Roid Boy could end up with the Royals. At first I was against the idea but after thinking about it I'm all for it. He could teach the entire Royals roster how to cheat and obtain illegal steroids. Then they'd finally be able to compete with teams like the Yankees on the very small market budget they have to work with:lol: .

Oh I'm sorry I mean he would share his incredible "training rituals" with them and maybe some of his "flax seed oil" ;)

I like the Braves and Red Sox.

The man hasn't been able to field his position since at least 2003, so that rules out the Braves. (And our current LF hits for better average, and not much less SLG)

The Red Sox don't want to put Ortiz at first every day (definetly not with Youk), so that rules out the Sox.

Big-ass head man can go wherever he pleases. He's not a valuable player anymore for the Giants, and that's why I'm making fun of you.

Well the Sox got the best record in baseball, so everything will go through Boston if they do well.

As for the NL picture, there could potentially be 3 1 game playoffs to determine the last 2 spots if the Padres lose and the other 3 teams win. It would look something like this, IRC:

Mets vs Phillies at PHI
Loser of NL East at either COL or SAN (COL would have 2 games at home or 1 on the road, so most likely SAN as COL gets the choice in a 4 way tie).
Winner of game 2 vs COL or SAN

LMAO. Now I'm racist.

I think instead of skipping school and posting here, you should pay attention in English classes.

ANYWAYS - Braves on TBS ends today after how-many odd years. It's a sad day, also Biggio's last game. Good reasons to watch right there.

Your maturity is evident by your avatar, I don't even have to get into your posts.

But, again, tell me how I'm racist because I don't think Bonds is relevant as a NL player (may not even be one as a DH).

And Sadaharu Oh might question the 'Home Run King' title that you've bestowed upon your saviour.

Three teams whose Playoffs future depends on the final game of the season. What an exciting finish for the NL. Pretty nerve-wrecking considering we will know everything by 5:00 PM Eastern.

Man, Yankees in for a 13th straight season.

If they won't get in next year, I bet Georgie is going to spend a Billion to get every superstar playing for the Yankees.

The Yankees are going to spend enough time and money keeping their own core together. Posada, Rivera, Pettite, Clemens, and A-Rod are all probably going to file for free agency.
Glavine back with the Braves in 2008, you heard it here first.
If he makes it out of New York alive.
If he makes it out of New York alive.
Well to be fair the Mets only scored 1 run so even if he pitched a 2 run gem, they still wouldn't win. Though their offense might have produced differently had their hopes not become crushed with that 7 run 1st.

Smoltz, Hudson, Glavine, Hampton (maybe) and Jeff Bennett for next year.

And I truly think Andruw is gone, we've already found a replacement with the same last name.

It's lookin like we'll have Monday baseball @ Coors. The Pads held Peavy out of the Brewer game. We'll see if that pays off.

GO ROCKIES!
I think the Rockies have the best chance of making the WS from the NL side (and the best chance of winning - they did take 2 of 3 from Boston and swept the Yankees)...if they can just get past SD. Should be an exciting game tomorrow!

Sox/Indians shared the best record in MLB. Who won more games against each other? I think that would qualify as the best team in the MLB season.

Regardless, season record means little as long as you make the playoffs. Have we not learned anything? The wild card team has made a big push for the World Series, and at times even won it...

ok to be frank.

Willie wont be fired. The Whole NY Met team sucked especially in September.
Minaya was an idiot for tinkering with a bullpen that was good..he just made it worse. HoJo couldnt teach how these guys to hit,Petersen couldnt fix the bullpen. Infact it was a mess before the season started..well too look back in retrospect.

the players deserve 80% of the blame. They didnt perform. willie puts the best out there he thinks that can win a game..and they dont perform. I love reyes to death but he wasnt playing the way he played earlier in the season where he depended on his speed. all i saw was swing for the fences type shit. Its the reason why he hit .198 and made the top of the order useless. he was an auto out and to say that about reyes is mind boggling.

Glavine will make it out of NY...on a stretcher...but seriously he pitched well all season..i cant give him grief for that. he just got blown up today. I hate the fact that after the game...its like he was happy we lost. That killed me. Thats why i dont care if he leaves..and i hope he retires as a brave because thats where he belongs. As a vet i wished he was more prepared today..he just looked out of it. great moment to win 300 with us though..Thanks for the years Tom.

anyways the collapse is finished. Minaya should know how much he fucked our team with stupid deals..like trading heath bell or not resigning chad bradford. losing duaner for the year killed too. ill never understand why he traded away bannister..but he did.im wondering if Steve Phillips brain washed him.

anyway im just pissed. Congrats to the Phils. They played their guts and we didnt. It shows that every game is important and that heart and intensity does make a difference on the field...the rockies and phillies proved that.

My favorite part was J. Roll dancing while people poured beer and champagne all over him. That and Howard dancing with a champagne bottle.

AWESOME.

fuck it im still bitter. J Roll can suck my left nut. =)

Congrats to Big Pappi, taking the CAG fantasy baseball championship. My MNTwins almost pulled it out, but it was too little too late. I'm still not sure how they even made it to the finals :)

thank you starman...it was a lot of hard work :).

I have no idea why the sox chose the extra day schedule. They are going to have to face elscobar and lackey 2 x. Granted they crush lackey (something like 1 - 4 with somewhere around 8 era)
