If we are to take his word for it, then yes, he stopped once they were banned from baseball and he did it completely on the up and up, despite the bogus prescription from a dentist and the $25,000 worth of HGH bought with straight cash.
I doubt if it's affected his performance at all, he throws junk and isn't a reliever. I believe the article was hinting at injuries as the reason why, which is understandable. This probably isn't a big deal, but his explanation seems a little fishy to me. Taking this stuff to recover from injuries seem to be very common in pro sports now, Rodney Harrison was busted for it not too long ago.
