I wonder, when Super Mario World hits, is it going to be the original version, or the version included on the Mario All-Stars / Mario World cart with the slightly different graphic set for Luigi and 4 save slots instead of 3 as in the original.
not a chance. they might release that after they release 2 and 3 on the nes first.
not a chance. they might release that after they release 2 and 3 on the nes first.
what?

The question wasn't which cart they would release but which version of Super Mario World would appear: the original version, or the one that was along side All-Stars in the later 2-game pack-in cart. It's pretty obvious they woudln't give us 5 games for the price of one. ;)

Got my CC today at Kmart. When I was paying for it they asked me, "how did you get a Wii they are so hard to find?"

I also found nunchucks at the local Target. The only reason I would use it now is so I can play 2 player boxing. But since they seem so hard to find I got one.

Does anyone know what the button on the CC between the two Z buttons do ? It looks like something could hook on the back of the controller.

Rumble maybe ?

LOL well I can JUST see it now. They will release Mario World, then eventually Mario Bros 2 and 3. Several months later they will release Mario All-Stars WITH Mario World..

Europe got Gradius, Bonanza Bros, Comix Zone, and Gain Ground this week.

Japan is supposedly going to get Mighty Bomb Jack, Galaga, Vigilante, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV.

So chances are aren't getting anything spectacular.

Well, to coincide with the Nintendo Power article, eventually we have to get Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, and Streets of Rage... so maybe one of those?

I downloaded LTTP and MK64 this week. I have 500 points, which will probably go to NES Zelda if nothing else interesting comes out soon. I'm actually playing my VC games more than my Wii and GC Games lately.
Well, to coincide with the Nintendo Power article, eventually we have to get Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, and Streets of Rage... so maybe one of those?
Yes I can almost confirm it because I have no points and those fuckers would release streets of rage of DKC this week. Just so I can spend the whole week pissed off (and I will be too), well atleast I am getting warioware next week to make me less mad that I can't find a points card (and no I do not have a CC, or do not want to get a prepaid one, they made points cards for a reason although I can't find one, lol).

Hey, I actually saw Classic Controllers AND Wii Points cards at every Target I've been to the past 2 days (about 4 of them).

hey about that chrono trigger copyright, does it involve the Dragonball Z creator (cant think of his name..)

didnt he create the original Chrono crew?

Target seems to be the only store in my area that can keep CCs and points cards in stock. Still holding out for Best Buy to get them in, but Target must have just gotten a shipment as they had two pegs full of both.

Well http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akira_ToriyamaAkira Toriyama did in fact create the characters for Chrono Trigger but I still don't understand how that could hault anything. Should't Square own the rights to their own characters and games despite if a few of the origional members are gone? I mean if Miyamoto would ever leave Nintendo I guarantee that Nintendo would still be able to rehash the old Mario games without any problem so why not Square in this case? I'm guessing that they are going to port the game to another format where they will be able to make more on it, such as the DS or PSP and are using there excuse just to buy more time.

I was about to say maybe Square had some kind of retarded clause where Toriyama kept the rights to the characters, but that still dosen't explain how Square was able to port it to the PS1 5 years ago.
According to Hudson:

http://vc-pce.com/usa/e/index.html

Vigilante (TG-16) will be hitting the VC on Monday. Also, New Adventure Island and Chew-Man-Fu (TG-16) will be arriving sometime in February. Not sure why New Adventure Island is coming out before all the NES Adventure Islands.
A little disapointing but the past few weeks have been pretty good.
A little disapointing but the past few weeks have been pretty good.
Thats only one game, remember 4 came out last week. There is still hope, oh wait I just got a points cards, no there is no fucking hope, lol.

ugh, I wasn't going to buy anything this week. ;)

Super Mario 3 is, of course, better than World, but World is fantastic. Bye, bye $8 (well, $10, and hello 200 extra points bringing me to a total of 400 left over! Totally useless! YEAH!)

No, I believe it's an established fact that SMW is just a touch better than SMB3. You must've flip flopped 'em. No big deal. ;)

This is terrific news. I will waste so much freakin' time on SMW with the classic controller. There's nothing like flawless play control (SMW is responsive like no other) and a great controller.

Even with so much about the VC to piss and moan about, I am very, very happy. Once SMB3 and SMW2:YI are released, I will have enough platforming goodness to last me for a long, long time. I've finally got a title on the VC that I can play over and over again to bide my time while I await those other releases.

Ya I was chilling with 400 since XMas after I purchased Gunstar Heroes & Mario 64.

I'll pick up World eventually, but I only have 500 points at the moment. Need a good deal on some points.

No, SMB 3 is leagues better then SMW. Super Mario World just isn't as big an imporvement over Mario 3 as Mario 3 was over Mario 1 and 2. It's essentially the same game, with much nicer graphics. Mario World is also much easier then SMB3, and has very little challange.

I think I'm going to try to force myself to finish or give up on Trauma Center (not sure if on "easy" it approaches the same insane difficulty as the DS version yet) before I get a VC game. If there's anywhere I don't need a backlog, it's on the VC. :D

Unfortunately the backlog of "to be purchased" VC games is starting to pile up.

Good morning folks. Another pleasant morning here in the VC thread. I'm glad I only bought Mario Kart and skipped on Contra. I'll probably buy SMW since at I might finish LTTP by the end of this week. Contra still has its seat in the eventual purchase pile, in a way I'm saving it for when my bros around. I think if i buy 1000 for SMW today, I'll have 500 leftover. I was going to get Zelda, thing else worth it? Only NES game I bought is SMB.

Though I will probably get SMB and Zelda eventually since my sister is reclaiming my NES soon. I still say Ice Hockey. ;)

Question regarding a distant future purchase decision: Were there any updates in the GBA port of Yoshi's Island? I'm on something like 6-2, so I'll probably be finishing it today. If it's essentially a straight port, I'll just sell it to get more than $8 to rebuy it on VC.

I seem to only want to rebuy the games I still own the cartridges for. Damn my excellent childhood taste! I already owned all the great titles, so Virtual Console really is nothing more than milking me twice for the same game...I doubt there will be any releases that will AAA games that I never played or owned...lame.

The fact that you have to put up with Yoshi's Uber Annoying voice, though, negates the necessity to have that at all. Sell it.
No, I believe it's an established fact that SMW is just a touch better than SMB3. You must've flip flopped 'em. No big deal. ;)
Mmmm, no. I'm sure I read in a book that Mario 3 was better than World. Books never lie. Esecpailly about something as objective as this. ;)

Well reason why Im leaning towards Zelda.. is.. I technically haven't played it through.. and I'm among biggest Zelda fanboys. I was Link for Halloween when I was 5, I had that cheap plastic mask and the smock that had a picture of Link on it too! So I pretty much need to play it. Only reason I hesitate is in case Zelda 2 comes out soon. Ice Hockey is close to a no for me, I like it but money on those simple sports games is a loss. Half of them are in my Animal Crossing house already.

SMB is totally worth it between sessions of other games. Its like the heart of gaming right there. I love when people say how hard it is to beat, when they mashed their way through God of War or something. Don't you miss the days when games weren't "too hard" but people were "sucky" cause they didn't play with power like you were suposed to?!

Oh and SMB3 vs SMW? SMB3 FTW. daroga is wrong though, it wasn't in a book but a movie. A little something called THE WIZARD with Fred fuckING Savage. Yea thats right, Corey Matthew's real life older brother. His slow friend got 15 billion points in Double Dragon! And anyone picking SMW, with your fancy save slots and color dinosaurs.. tell me this.. in SMW can you be a FROG? Can you be Hammering BROTHER? How bout a TANUKI? Can you save your PWing to breeze over the moving fortresses?! Does Toad play cards with you? Do you take on ALL of the Koopa kids? That right there needs to go on wikipedia, its pretty much fact.

I must have read it in the novel adaptation of The Wizard.

EDIT: What Koopa Kid is missing from World, though? I thought all seven were in each game.

Damn, so Super Mario World is out now? Not only does that mean I have to buy, but now I have to get a CC. I'm trying to hold off, but it's hard. Real hard.

Here comes more money from me, Nintendo. I don't know why I feel I have to have SMW, when I still have my SNES!

It sold far better (even though SMW was a pack-in for most of it's life), but I personally feel that SMW is the superior game. Just too many secrets to find, plus all the boss battles were actually fun.

Excellent. I knew if I opened my classic controller last night some SNES goodness would come our way. Looks like SM64 will have to wait. :D

I've been fighting off the urge to d/l a new game since the flood of AAA games started, but with LttP, MK64, and now SMW, I think it's time I gave in and put those 1200 points to good use.
What Koopa Kid is missing from World, though? I thought all seven were in each game.
uhh... hmm.. well uh... the ugly one? er.. the one with TWO septers? you probably missed him in SMB3, using too many whistles.

EDIT: okay found it.
doll_talking_sinclair.jpg

He's the real boss in Giant World, but I heard you need two game genies and the top loading NES to get him.

I really want to like SMB3, but I'll be damned if it didn't feel like being given a filet mignon and being told I had to eat the whole thing in three minutes. The lack of a save feature in the game prevented me from really savoring the level design, varied features of the levels, graphics, etc.

Ultimately, this features makes me think that the two games just can't be compared, because it isn't fair. The save feature meant I could take my time with the game, that I was able to play through (and wanted to play through) every level in SMW. If I wanted to do that in SMB3, I had to do it in one sitting, and I felt zero incentive to do that.

That said, I'll probably pick it up when it heads to the VC.
EDIT: What Koopa Kid is missing from World, though? I thought all seven were in each game.
The oroginal seven Koopa Kids are in the game. You must be thinking of Bowser Koopa Jr., who didn't exist yet ;)
