Monster Hunter Tri

[quote name='Myv']I finally got this game and its awesome, finished up the 1 star quests today. Starting a bit of 2 star quests. I'm down to play online as well, please add me :) I'm still running around naked, what kind of started armor do you guys suggest? I can probably skip a few because the quests are pretty easy to do atm without armor, just trying to rack up gold and see if new armors show up at shop (?)

Is there a compilation list of people's ID?

If any armor beyond chainmail shows up for purchase, it's not for a long while. Assuming you're able to tackle the Great Jaggi without any armor, that would be a good set to put together.

Event Quest reminds me I hope I have a shot at getting to one of the Ludroth ones before they change.

Ah okay, I'm gonna try it first without armor and push as far as I can. I don't want to show up online naked

Is anyone online right now? I'm up for anything.

Myv: If you need help getting armor I could "power level" you through the great jaggi quest online. (I can beat him in like a minute-2 minutes.)

What are the odds of someone at HR8 wearing Jaggi armor being anything better than a hindrance in the new event quest? Granted, I don't think I could afford anything that the Jhen+ materials provide for a long while so I'm probably just as well waiting until I'm less useless.

Hm...I'm not sure. That jhen morhan did some damage to me with my full almost fully-upgraded lagiacrus set. I don't care what armor anyone has though, I'd still start a quest with them. Xp As long as I get some morhan scales and other drops, I don't care if I lose a quest.

I just got done Wound Great Jaggi's Head subquest, using no armor atm just a great sword, looking for the Great Jaggi right now so I can kill him @_@; wasn't close to dying at all, hmmm where is he suppose to reappear?

nvm he found me :D killed him with no armor

ah, after defeating great jaggi I see new armor! time to forge these ones I guess :D

how do you guys deal with respawns? I just went for free roam outside and killed great jaggi again, buncha other jaggis around and I ended up carving up 'nothing', I'm thinking the body disappeared as I carved or just bad luck.

Wait... JHEN...MOHRAN??? NEW EVENT QUEST!?!?!? HELL YEAH!!!!

WHO WANTS TO HUNT HIM?!?!? (no caps lock were not on, i'm just really excited. :D)

You have to carve them fast enough, they dissapear over time, but if you are on a quest to hunt a boss, their tail won't disappear or something like that, so you can head back there and get it.

^ any requirements? I'm down to join haha
I think imma need to start grinding those HR points alone, seems like a lot of the places require high HR

Bro you can join up with low HR players as well, I see a lot of them. Make a city called "Beginners Welcome!" that attracts low HR playes. I don't know what the requirements for the quest are, but I'd say you need a general understanding of the game and most of the monsters to do the quest. I don't recommend trying to solo the quests.

Anyone know if there are any other event quests up? I'll just go check in a minute, if anyone wants to hop on in about 30 mins we can go hunt together.

Here's a tip though: Before you go online, play the single-player until you get to 3* star quests at least. Make armor (Please not leather... if it's leather at least upgrade it to 3 defense.), find a weapon you like to use and/or are the best at.

I did a few quests with another guy, hunt 4 great jaggi and some other one, I can probably craft full jaggi set now, but I'm looking at the rhino set it seems a lot better to craft. Need to mine Pelagicite Ores though.

If you do the Jhen Mohran quest, you can get pelagicite ores from his back very easily.

I did about 3 runs for that quest and only successfully completed 1. We almost had the last one, but this guy named "john" died 3 times, so... :/

Also, I've seen people that are around in the 40+ HR range... it's crazy.

I'd be up for it but won't be on until around 10pm est. Been using the recruiting servers so much lately. Really wish they would of put it at the top so more people would use them as being able to list a specific monster to hunt is great instead of picking a room and hoping they're doing it.

Yeah pretty much, it'll grow eventually.

I like to join general rooms though as well, since I'm not at the moment farming for anything.

Had a good day. Finished up the last key 1* quest online, so my Barroth quest is open. Looks like I've got some people lined up for that one tomorrow night.

Back offline, finished off Royal Ludroth on my second attempt, though I did faint after getting hit by an untimely KO. Also figured out where Pelagicite Ore is so I've finally upgraded my Commander's Dagger to a Hydra Dagger. +14 attack, and more than 2 hits of green sharpness! I think I'll work on getting Ludroth armor put together, I like the Protection and Constitution skills. Probably have to flood the open slots with Attack Jewels to keep that skill.

I may run into that Jhen quest just to see what the hell is going on and then try it with some people to hopefully get something out of it without dying too much. Hearing about firing ship cannons at the thing makes no sense to me out of context.

A couple days ago I got to rank 9, 2 star quest online but haven't played any yet. I'm kind of upset I missed out on that HR 9 limit event quest and not getting some extra Jaggi heads for later. They'll eventually cycle those types of hunt quest right?

Pretty much armor doesn't matter too much with defense rating but more with the boost in additional skills. That's what I was thinking earlier since the demo and it still feels the same. Are people ahead of me finding that to be true as well?

I've been using the lance lately since there seems to be an over abundance in switch axes . Was able to take out a Great Jaggi and a Royal Ludroth consecutively in about 15 minutes with some weak 250 damage one. Don't know how well that will go online but I'm sure once I get some 2 star online quest done I'll start being able to get significant upgrades (2 star online is like 4 star offline?). I want to take on the new event quest sometime but will probably need help with that one.

Hope I can get some time in tonight.

As of a few hours ago the other two event quests are still up. With any luck they'll remain there this week so I have a chance to tackle the Ludroth quest after I hit HR9 tomorrow.

I think they'll keep those ones up where you get special items from them. Why? So people don't miss out. I don't know honestly.

4 runs on the Jhen quest, got successful on the last one and broke a tusk. :D

The Jhen quest is really unique. The first try we did it successfully, but never succeeded after that. One guy just kept dying. The game also wouldn't let me use a Bomb on his final tusk, which was BS. I got up to HR16, so now I'm a ways from HR17. I still need to do 3 or 4 more 2-star q

Close to finishing 3* offline (barroth, capture the other 2), crafted my rhal. set and also finished Jhen quest like 3-4 times, had a pretty good group and we knew what to do so it was pretty easy. Of course did the repel one, since I'm still at HR 5. I couldn't get the bracers though off that guy, we broke the tusk/horns but still didn't get, bad luck I suppose.

I think you can only use anti-dragon bombs on his tusks. It's completely BS, but oh well.

I can only do the repel one for until around HR27, then I can join other people's quests to actually battle the real thing.

I'm really starting to play this game less and less recently, not due to boredom, but due to school and cleaning my house. Hopefully I can get more game time in today. BTW, anyone get any Elder Gems?

Here's a question. I was messing around in arena mode a little bit the other day trying (and failing) to kill the 3rd monster (I forget his name). Well, the one weapon set gives you sleeping knives. Any idea how these are supposed to work? I hit him with most of them, and he stayed awake no problem. Same goes for...I think it was the Great Jaggi where they give you paralysis knives. Seemed to have no effect on him.

You can destroy tusk with ballista, cuz we've done it everytime. I went on a couple more and we finally got braces, have like 3 or 4 now. The final showdown requires pretty high HR like what you said, you gotta bomb the mouth so you can carve it for blood and gem to make that armor set. You CAN get it in repel as a reward but its said to have very very low chance, like 2-3% but some people has gotten like 2 in a run, so its all luck maybe Jaggi Helm will help?

I think most of the equipment that has something to do with putting it to sleep/shock/paralyze you have to injure it for it to be effective.

Did the event quest 6 times last time and came out with assorted parts, 2 elderdragon bloods, and a dragon gem. Crafted me that fun ls from his parts and gemmed my lagia armor finally lol.

I might do this event quest a couple more times then just try to HR up. 1400 HR points is an awesome amount from that Jump Four Jaggi! quest.

Hey all -- Just found a little time to play this (Had it since launch, just cleared the 'tutorial' quests) Haven't gone online yet.

Couple of questions for you all -- is there a strong CAG presence in this game? Any recommendations in terms of early game content?

Just as a background, I played Monster Hunter 1 on PS2, but nothing since. I enjoyed GreatSword, but only because I only played offline and knew I wouldn't hit anyone with my wild swings. Enjoying Sword and Shield right now.

Yeah, I'm up for anything. I'm only HR 8 though. >_< Wanna do the morhan event quest a few more times? I only tried it once but my team kept dying.

If people are on, I wouldn't mind trying the Jhen quest, as long as there are no expectations of me. Only have about a half hour now - planning to come back at 10 EST for a bit more.

Assuming the weather doesn't fuck me up.

I haven't played with you Dro since I got the game, I remember us having the same gear and everything one game and then a week later you've went on ahead of me up so much  I know when I do get some time this week I'll need help doing that event quest and hopefully you and/or Nirran will be around.

I did a couple hunts offline and the lance is starting to become my favorite weapon. I took down the flame spark bird in 2 minutes and a Barroth in about 10 with the first Gobul lance. I don't know if I just had a lucky hunt but I felt that I was able to spend more time attacking since I was able to block instead of dodging or getting knocked out of the way.

Franksi, the list of CAGs online is on the first post. Weird that there are only 2 west siders and the other 2 dozen so far are all central or east coast.

I reached HR23! Woot woot, still awhile away from HR30 though. :/

I want to fight Jhen Mohran fully, the event quest is just the first part of the quest.

Ok, I quickly need 1 more person for the morhan quest! >_<

Edit: Ok, everythings cool now.

He is a mobile tank, lol. He becomes easier when you're weapons start to make him stagger a lot and if you bring a lot of traps. What I never see people do is use traps +bombs, place bombs near the monster's head and someone throw a paintball or something at it. Devastating damage. At least, that's what the Japanese do, lol.

Is anyone having massive online issues at the moment? Was fine all day but I cannot stay connected at all tonight. Keep getting connected due to network instability and connecting to the server is taking forever as well.

Connection errors have happened the last couple of days. It might be because of this new quest. I've beaten that Quest twice now, and it's hard.

I'm up to HR18 now, and 3-star online quests are now beckoning me, as well as 5-star offline quests.

'Grats King! I honestly haven't been on the offline mode for a couple of days now. The Barioth is one of the toughest guys I have fought so far. Fast, quick and acts like some 2 monsters from a previous game. Nargacuga and Kushala Daora (If you haven't played MHFU, you probably won't know them). Let's just say Barioth will be one tough experience for those who are not ready for his quick attacks and leaps.

People are starting to really hit the 20-30 HR ranking area. Found a lot of people at that HR and higher... Two nights ago met a guy who was HR53!!!... I have also been getting connection lag, that made me go check my PC to make sure nothing was downloading. Guess it probably is this new event quest.

Might have to try that online. We made a few runs and failed pretty miserably, which isn't unexpected with everyone being < HR9. We had some traps going, but no bombs.

I ran into some real nice folks yesterday who were helping me clear the event quest to kill 4 Jaggis. I need to run that one more time I think to have the raw materials tomake the Jaggi head piece. I want to make sure to get enough Heads to make one, even once the quest isn't available online.
