For weeks, I have seen this annoying
ing ad everywhere (or a variant of it) and sent polite (yet irritated) E-mails to get it removed from websites' ad cycles. ESPN, CAG and many other sites have this annoying
ing ad pop in their cycles. The ad continously beeps to infinity, unless, I refresh the page again to get a new ad. It's totally obnoxious. I find it about 1000000000 times more annoying than the "Congratulations! You've won a free IPOD Nano!" Really??? Go
yourself.
There are two other annoying types of ads. One is the scroll down ad, which covers page content. Most of them are broken, so they won't go way, even after, I click on them. Usually, I find this problem on ESPN. The webpage's content is completely unreadable. Some automatically scroll over content. Others rely on a mouse over, which is 100% of the time by accident.
The last type is less obnoxious and annoying than the previous two. I hate mini-pops in the middle of the page, but a specific variant seems to be gaining popularity. The "Click to Close, but get another pop-up on a separate page" ad. These are old school, but seem to be coming back in style.
I refuse to purchase products if their ads are too obnoxious. I'm not sure if companies will take a hint or not, but I feel many companies have taken pages from porn and warez ad strategies to market to potential customers. I'm not against advertising, but society needs limits and boundaries. Annoying ads only irritate and annoy the customer base, instead of, attracting them to potentially attractive products or services.
I created this topic from frustration with some particular ads (no matter what browser I seem to use). If anybody has any other obnoxious ads, then please post!
