most hours spent on a video game?

Well I do have close to 14000 matches played on SF3:3S just on XBL, and I used to play a lot on the Dreamcast version with my friends. Figuring I played 6000 matches with friends, at 3 minutes per match, and that would be 60,000 minutes = 1000 hours. I probably played SF2T, SFA2, and VF2 roughly the same amount.

I've average about 3 hours a week of guitar hero for a year. That's ove 150 hours. That is the most for me. I've also got about 50 hours logged on Warhawk.
First of all, I love how everyone posting their time spent in MMORPG is just mulyiplying the number of days they played by the number of hours in a day. Since I played SSBM for a couple of years, I must have put thousands of hours into it!
I know someone already pointed it out, but the time I specified was from typing "/played" in EverQuest. It spits out exactly how much time you've spent logged on. The 170 days played was over the course of several years. So yes, it literally was thousands of hours.
I find it hard to believe somebody played 8 years of one game.
Well, just to clarify: in this case, I did not mean that I played it for a combined time of 8 years. I meant somewhere between 3-15 hours per week over the course of 8 years.

Oh geez..

I've logged an unknown number of hours into Final Fantasy Tactics since the timer only goes up to 99hrs 99 min and 99sec. That being said, i've probably put more than 2.5x that amount into that game.

300+ hours on Disgaea
200+ hours on Disgaea 2

Maybe we should split this into single player and multiplayer games? I've played Starcraft online off and on for 5 - 6 years but I have no idea how much time I've spent on it.

At some point every year (since the games release) I end up getting addicted to The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, for periods of about 3 months. I tried out Xfire for one of those months and ranked up about 150 hours in it. I always seem to get drawn into it repeatedly by the mods that are released for it - companions, different combat systems, islands- with plenty to do, it never seems to get old.

Top three:

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - 200 hours (my own modest estimate... probably closer to 220)

FFXII - 125 hours

FF Tactics Advance - 110 hours

That I can recall:

Oblivion: 120 hours
FF Tactics Advance: 70 hours

I can't even recall how many hours I dumped into FFVI, Chrono Trigger, and Earthbound when I was younger.

My estimations, including multiple playthroughs + multiplayer:

500++
Perfect Dark (N64)

150+
FF XII
FF VII
FF VI
Suikoden
SMT: Nocturne
Goldeneye
Chrono Trigger
Timesplitters 2
Mario Golf (N64)
Super Mario Kart

100+
DDS 1+2
Shadow of the Colossus
FF VIII
Persona 3
Persona 2
Suikoden V
Wild Arms
Mario Baseball
Final Fantasy (NES)
Legend of Zelda (NES)
Super Mario World

There are probably a few over the 100 hour mark that I'm forgetting.

Diablo II(LOD came out a year later and is included). I played at least 50 hours a week for the first 3 years after it came out. I was my own boss so i could play it at work when things got boring. Which was just about all day.

It's been 7 1/2 years since it came and and I still go back to it every once in a while. I would imagine that i have at least 10,000 hours into it. Probably more. No game comes close. No game ever sucked me in like that one did.

FFX is the closest game to that and that one I logged 245 hours.

My X-Fire is holding a VERY minimal amountof how much WoW I've played.

That doesn't include 40+ days of leveling time, and many more of raiding time. My old Main had 38 days on him before I retired him, and my new Shaman has about 30 or so days played... and let us not forget about the days put into alts...

11234 hrs on Super Smash Bros Melee and counting. Family, friends and neighbors are always around to get their asses handed to them by Peach or Fox. Second place goes to Phantasy Star Online for Gamecube. 1059 hrs. But I don't play it much anymore.

does calculator tetris count? assuming there are about 180 days of school a year with one boring class for an hour a day, i've spent 400+ hours, taking into account that i'm a senior and i got this calculator sophomore year...

Asides from World of Warcraft (which you don't even wanna know how much time I've thrown into that game over the last 3 years because it even makes me sigh in shame) it'd probably be Final Fantasy 7 and 8, which I probably put 300-400 hours into each.

This is just a short mental list I keep. These are mostly since timers and sidequests became popular. God knows how many hours I've spent playing SMB3, Tetris, and various Street Fighter incarnations.

100+ hours
Final Fantasy Tactics
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Unreal Tournament 2004
Battlefield 2142
probably every PS2 GTA (excluding LCS/VCS)
Dragon Quest VII
Final Fantasy XII

200+
Battlefield 2
Animal Crossing: Wild World (this probably far surpassed 200, but I'm too scared to think about it)

My most played game is probably either Perfect Dark (N64) or Amplitude (PS2). No idea which was played more, but I've played way, way too much of both. :)

probably a toss up between FF7, which ive played through several times, animal crossing ds, which ive played for nearly 2 years now, and world of warcraft, which i played off and on since its come out. oh and maybe counter strike and source, ive been playing those for so long its hard to say how many hours ive put into them.

As far as online goes, I've spent hundreds of hours playing World of Warcraft for a while, the same goes for Counter-Strike before that. For single player, I have totaled over 90 hours if I combine both of my playthroughs for Final Fantasy X.

Well lets see...

CS for 4 straight years. At about 6 hours per day...

So 365 x 6 = 2190 x 4 = 8,760 hours. Probably +/- 200 hours. Wow.

8,760 / 24 = 365 days. Wow. An entire year of my life was used up by CS. Just Wow.

I also don't want to think about how much TFC I played before I got into CS. *sigh* You'd probably have to add another 3,000 - 4,000 hours. That's an average of 6 hours/day for 2 years. WTF WAS I THINKING?!

Pokemon Red, Goldeneye, Mario Kart 64, Smash Bros, all probably have 300-400 hundred hours worth of play in each of them.

The Halo series combined probably are close to 3,000 hours total, an average of 2 hours/day for 4 years.

Let's see. It really woudln't shock me if I hit 200+ hours on NHL 94 or Baseball Stars (Genesis and NES respectively) back in the day. I have no idea, but back then, I couldn't get new games, and didn't have tons of money to rent, so if I wanted to game, those were the games.

More recently, cracked 100 hours in Oblivion, and still tons to do. Probably 150 hours in Morrowind (between the original and GOTY additions). I also have over 120 hours in 2+ playthroughs of FFX (I started a third playthrough, but then started playing other games halfway through, and never finished it up).

For those with 900 hours + in games, just wow. I'm not sure if I'm envious or not, but you have to love those games to put that kind of time into them.

I played the shit out of Ultima Online for four years. Not sure specific time spent on it.

For games outside of the MMO verse, it's hard to say. I tend to leave games on for days sometimes and it just adds on a metric ton of hours to my save game. However, I know I did play a lot of Morrowind and its mods that people made for it. Also played through Link to the Past at least a hundred times so that adds up too.

My longest time on a console game is my current running tally of ~45 hours of Blue Dragon. If I ever want to ignore my backlog and commit to leveling all the shadow classes in the game, I'm sure I'll end up around 60.

No idea. I know I spent a good deal of time on Pokemon Gold, as that was my only portable game for a while and I loved it, but not nearly as much time as my peers. Probably more than 50 hours, but I'm not sure.

Spent alot of time passing around Advanced Wars with my buddies back on the GBA.

Spent a ton of time on Oblivion, I think I was reaching 50 hours. Sold it in since then and have been meaning to grab Shivering Isles. My time with Oblivion is far from over (I hope).

Orcarina of Time has at least 50 hours in the first couple play-throughs, and I've played it a ton since then. Same with Link to the Past.

Spent tons of time on Halo back in the day, co-op and multiplayer CTF on Blood Gulch. Definitely more than 50 hours. Goldeneye, too. I still remember scraping together my money to get an N64 after playing that game.

Spent a ton of time on Halo 2, as well, online matchmaking. 50 hours easily.

Then there's StarCraft, which I've been playing for years, and could never accurately gauge how much time I've spent on, especially taking into account time spent in StarEdit making various campaigns and UMS games (which I got pretty damn good at back in the day).

Way to many.

Everquest - 280 days - 6720 hours (from 9th grade to 12th)
Star Wars Galaxies - 48 or so days.
Diablo II - No counter, but I'd imagine it's twice as much as EQ.
CS - Probably half as much as EQ.

Plus tons of PS1 RPGs. Have 500+ hours on Final Fantasy Tactics.

Played a shitload of games when I was a kid, not as much time anymore, but I manage.

When I stopped playing Everquest, my Shaman was @ I think 315days played time... Almost a full YEAR I played that game...

Baldur's Gate II (for PC, not Dark Alliance): Don't really know the hours in detail, but it took me about 2 years to beat it, and I was playing it nearly every week for the first several months.

Just logged about 120 hours for Dragon Warrior 7 and I would expect most of the other longer RPG's I've played have clocked in around that time frame as well.

edit: Nevermind- definitely Starcraft. Between high school and then a resurgence of the game in my fraternity in college, I'd say I logged somewhere close to 500 hours into the game.

Diablo II and Halo 2 are the kickers for me. I'm sure I've logged in more than 5,000 games of Halo (haven't checked Bungie.net in a while) and Diablo II is probably right up there.

Just recently I spent 170 hours in Persona 3. Not sure about FFVII cause the clock maxed out at 99 hours.

I'm about 100 hours into Phantasy Star Universe. That the only MMORPG I ever played. The expansion just came out so maybe I'll get back into it.

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion: 185+ hours
Disgaea: 100+
Final Fantasy III (SNES): 84, then beat again in 68 (back in the day)

With repeated beating, I probably put in mucho hours in Deus Ex and Pokemon Snap, too.

450 hours on Pokemon Diamond

120 hours: Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII

Also, countless Saturday mornings on Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds

I think 60+ in Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy III back when I was in high school and could afford to spend that kind of time on a game.

I know I spent more than that on Mario Golf for Gameboy Color, but my cart reset on me and I can't remember the time.

Heres a little list from what I can remember.

500+
Runescape (Unsure played from 5th grade until I quit last year, I'm a Sophmore now.)

300-500
Guildwars
Pokemon Yellow

100-300
Halo 2
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Age of Empires: Age of Kings
Age of Mythology (Beat it 7 times for some reason)
Pokemon Gold/Silver
Pokemon Ruby
Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 (Huge custom parks, taking months to build)

50-100
Paper Mario
Paper Mario Thousand Year Door
007: Nightfire (The Pre-Halo for my freinds and I)
Animal Crossing: Wild Worlds
Halo 3 (We play everyday after school, 658 games played and Legendary beat. This dosn't include LANS though)
Gears of War
4X4 EVO 2
Sims

Edit: Put into list form.

If Quake III, Halo 2, or Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force had hour counters I would have probably logged at least 300 hours in each of the last few years, especially Elite Force. I play that more than any PC game.

125 or so on Oblivion. I probably have a lot in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Halo 2 as well (too bad I can't check).

http://www.theliveeye.com/profile.asp?tag=akilla05
but other than that insane time on Katamari, my Rumble Roses file is at 68 hours and I still haven't got all the achievements for Single champion belts. My eternal sonata file is at 30 hours before I got LIVE eye
Non 360 would have to be DOAX with 100 hours before I had to exchange my XBOX.
Dreamcast would have to be Skies of Aracadia with 60 hours. Then on Gameboy there's Pokemon Blue, Red and Silver. I was 17 hours into Diamond, but I haven't played it in sometime.

Hmm... if I had to give my best guess, I'd say this is where I am. Mind you, my wife got pregnant right around the time the 360 launched so my next gen experiences have been minimal at best. There are a few games that were so great I just couldn't stop playing them.

1000+
Final Fantasy XI
Counterstrike: Source (Hell, this one might be up to 2000)

750+
World of Warcraft
Diablo II

500+
Goldeneye
Super Mario World (I still play this game once a month)
Morrowind

200+
GTA: San Andreas
GTA: Vice City
Kingdom Hearts 2
NFL Street 2

Super Mario World (I still play this game once a month)

I still have my snes beside my wii, with super mario world in it. I have a chest of carts I never touch. aswell as that, I play pilotwings, pac-attack, and link to the past
300+ hours on Disgaea (PS2)

160+ hours on Dragon Quest VII (PS2)
you call yourself an RPG addict... :)

Soul Calibur, I remember maxing out the timer at 100hr and still playing for a long time after, but the most that easy Counter strike, 6 years none stop some playing 800hr lol
