What do you think takes this award?

My vote goes to the Gamcube, remember when N64 was still this-gen and everyone was so excited about "Dolphin" and now it comes out and IMO is the worst console. There best exclusive game is being ported to PS2

Seriously what is the point of this topic? The Gamecube is a great console. It may be my favorite. All systems have their pluses and minuses so don't start this argument.

PS2 = Least powerful but most games and installed userbase.
GC = Nintendo software and cheapest system to purchase.
Xbox = Most powerful system with best online system.
 
I agree the Segway is a joke. It will not revolutionize the way we travel. It does not go 50 miles an hour or up and down stairs.
 
Anything that Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, C. Aquilar puts out is the most overhyped thing.

Stupid blondes are also the most overhyped thing (Paris Hilton & Jessica Simpson)

If you compare those cretins to videogames, videogames are not overhyped at all by comparision.

And the most overhyped gaming thing ever is/will be Halo 2. However, I've already got it pre-ordered and I'll spend half of my lifetime playing it, so overhype isn't necessarily a bad thing.

THe VB may have been a disappointment but you cannot accuse it of being overhyped. It was barely promoted at all compared to virtually any other platform Nintendo has ever produced.

Or you could say anything by Blizzard, they take so long to come out, the hype gets huge, but they usually are worth it.
 
smalien1 is the most over-hyped gaming thing ever. Or at least the stupidest. And the Duke Nukem Forever game that never came out. Is that still in development?
 
I'm going to vote for Steel Battalion.

I've never even played it, but at the end of the day . . . you've got a $200 game that takes up a lot of space. That said, I would quickly buy one for $100 just for the collection mystique. It really is an insane piece of hardware.

I'm trying to follow the criteria given here . . . gaming hardware related . . . overhyped. Hype usually means the coverage that something gets and the buzz around it.

I don't think the Virtual Boy works here because there was no hype (only Nintendo's promises) for it. The N64 aka Project Reality would be a better candidate than the Gamecube. People believed strongly and the press latched onto the N64 and it never really delivered.

I had an N64 and loved the games but it was hyped more than the Gamecube and the GC has delivered much better.

Sega's "The Matrix Online". Everyone thought Sega was going to announce a console at e3 2004 because they promised an "Explosive Announcment."

First off, its Daikatana.. there's no debate on this. Secondly, when you start off with anti-GCN statements, you're just inciting a flamewar, that's why this thread is pointless.

Gamecube is a perfectaly good system but the other two are slightly superior and I remember when I was like 12 I was soooo excited about GCN/dolphin when I had my N64 and I ended up getting a PS2, even though I didn't liked my n64 more than my original playstation

I still think it's way over hyped I'm just clarifing what I said before. Why are you being so defensive of GCN you're taking it personaly that I dissed it.

the sega E3 announcement pissed me the hell off, i almost quit gaming right then and their butsega might do something cool and make anothewr system, or just fuck themselfs with a didlo like that are doing right now
 
I'd have to go with Sega 32x. I remember it being in all the gaming magazines and then it was a POS (non-point of sale...)

I've seen two people with an N-Gage total since launch. Once when I was standing at a bus stop, a guy lent his to some guy who asked if he could use his cell phone. I wonder if the guy was hoping the other guy would take it off his hands. :lol:
 
i think the most hyped up game was brute force.. it wasn't all that! the hype said that this would hold me over till halo 2! yeah right! :x
 
Suga beat me to the Brute Force punch. N-gage is pretty terrible.

I'm also annoyed by too many buzz jokes with the ilovebees thing. Please make it stop.
 
The Segway would be pretty nifty if it didn't cost 5000 freakin dollars.

And damn it! I might buy an N-Gage QD (if i can find it for less than 200 dollars).

But most overhyped would be, probably Halo 2 or Fable. The hype of those 2 games is just insane. They'll probably both be good but still, this much hype is rediculous.
 
The Segway...just another way to keep this country the fattest, most bloated nation on the planet.

Honey, it's a beautiful night, I'm taking the kids for a Segway...we wouldn't want them to have calf muscles...
