So would it work with a Rock Band preorder? Because when I went to go checkout (the 360 version) it only listed Credit Card, Mail Billing, and Preferred Account as payment options, no Paypal.
Try getting it from B&N, it is giving me the option of Paypal. Just make sure in the promo when it takes you to paypal's site to send the payment that the 20% off is showing.

I currently have no money in my Paypal account, will I still qualify for the offer if Paypal takes money out of my bank account and sends it to B&N?

Yes, you should still qualify. The following types of transactions are the ones that are excluded:

Unfortunately, tax and shipping are applied. Plus it's also $10 more on top of it.

Same here. Doesn't look like it's going to work.

I bought it from B&N for right now given the cash back. But if I find it elsewhere, Ill simply cancel my B&N order. This is just to get me a place in line to get one.

never heard of it being done, but any chance you can use gamestop credit at the barnes & noble site since they are "partners"?

This is awesome. I just grabbed a digicam that my girlfriend has been wanting for $249.99 with free shipping...a perfect match for this deal :) For reference, on my Paypal checkout page there was a special section mentioning the cash back, so I think it's all good.

Finally got Naruto: Rise of the Ninja (360) on this deal for $45.59 after cash back. I also got a 550W power supply and 500GB hard drive for $95 after cash back. All ordered through NewEgg.com. I'm at $40 on the $50 limit.

I changed my funding source to credit card which works just as well. The payment restrictions are there to make sure you pay through your PayPal account, rather than a PayPal sponsored credit or debit card. I did the PayPal promo earlier this year that required registration and it's nice to see PayPal is doing it again, even better. Maybe they're trying to stay ahead of Google Checkout this time around. Last year I did six deals using Google Checkout ($20 off $50 on Buy.com).

I have a question, is the discount taken off immediately? Or is it later credited to your paypal account?

I just ordered a PSP off dell.com and the online rep said paypal would credit me later...and I have a feeling this isn't true...

I used it for a Rock Band Preorder. Called my wife and told her she bought me something for Christmas.

Where did you preorder? Hopefully not Barnes and Noble unless you don't mind waiting until 2008.
this makes mass effect $36 at liongames

that is a great deal
....Except that this promotion only applies to specified retailers...

do you see the item discount anywhere in the checkout.. how do i find out what the discount is

thye have mass effect 53.99 with free ship before discount

well that would seriously suck considering when I checked out it offered me 20% offer. Every other site in the deal does not include specific products, why would Newegg be any different?

It is 20% off everything. The only thing I'm not sure about is if it's 20% off all orders until you hit the $50 mark, or if it's 20% off a single order.

Either way, the best way to take advantage of this deal is to order something $250 or more. That way you get the full $50 back.

I'm getting a 24" LCD Westinghouse L2410NM monitor w/ HDMI, Component, S-Video and VGA in for $300 shipped. Hot deal, IMO.

Damn. Wish TRU had the PSP back in stock. I have a $85 in store credit to blow and the cash back afterwards would be a nice plus.

I think they're claiming it's out of stock because of Black Friday though. Circuit City claims its PSP's are out of stock online and in-store, but I know I saw stacks of PSP bundles just yesterday. (Unless the PSP just became hot suddenly).

im pretty sure its paypal thats forking over the dough for this. Newegg should care less about what items you are using the deal on.

This isn't the first year NewEgg has participated in a deal like this, the confusion is crazy. I was told 20% at checkout, but I don't trust these deals 2 months after the fact. I ordered stuff I wanted to get and hasn't fluctuated in price much. If I miss out, the deal wasn't make or break.

FYI I received confirmed information that all orders are valid for this promotion. Below is the conversation I had with an associate:

Thank you for contacting
Newegg. My name is Danielle. How may I assist you today?
Scott: Yes I am writing in reference to order 84607XXX
Scott: I am being told by an associate of mine that that order is not eligible for the Paypal promotion..is this correct?
Danielle: Let me check for you. Just a moment...
Scott: Thanks
Danielle: Your order is eligible and you should be receiving the 20% refund from Paypal. This promo is through Paypal and is for any Paypal order on our site. You will receive the 20%, but it will come as a refund by 01/31/08 (per Paypal).
Scott: Ok because there is mass confusion in reference to this promotion in my office as others have been told by your associates that only certain items are eligible
Danielle: Yes, I apologize for that. Since the promo is run by Paypal and not
Newegg, we have received some incorrect information.
Danielle: We have just recently confirmed the exact details of Paypal's promotion.
Scott: Alright Danielle..just wanted to follow up so there are no issues down the line and I wanted you guys to know that there was confusion so you have no disgruntled customers
Danielle: Thanks and sorry about the confusion.
Danielle: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
Scott: thats all..thanks
Danielle: Thank you for contacting us. I hope you have an Eggcellent day!

Also, this was posted on Hot Deals
Newegg.com is pulling the 20% Paypal Cashback promotion off of their site as of now. Paypal purchases in progress which say "Promo: 20% cash back" are still eligible for this promotion, however new purchases may no longer qualify for this promo.

B&N. It's showing a ship date of 11/28. I would not be surprised if it ships later. I'm in not that big of a rush, since my 360 is currently bricked. So, if I can get it by early January, I'd be happy, since I'm saving close to $40 on a game that has 0 discounts to date.

From here:

"The promotional funds that Paypal alloted for Newegg has been depleted due to the large amount of traffic today. The promotion has now ended." It's currently the last post, and it's by a Newegg employee.

I was also told this same thing by a rep in the live chat. My order went through at 1:04 p.m. PST, and the rep told me that the promo was already over at noon PST. Needless to say, I cancelled my order, since it was still at step 1. :whistle2:(

Edit: I just read a little on that site, and to be clear, the poster is an employee of the EggXpert.com forum, not Newegg.

You're waiting over an extra month to get your game and you're not even saving much money because B&N charges shipping, tax, and $10 more than other places. ROFL

.... Screw Newegg then.

well newegg is now on my shit list. thats fucked up. well i cancelled my order, i guess they really didnt want my money after all. fuckin bait and switch bullshit as far as im concerned.

what's hilarious is the cover up done by newegg. i'd say it's just as much their fault as paypal.

i got an email from them this morning about this deal, said it expires 11-28-07. after i heard the deal was over i checked my email again, they added to the picture "offer ended" but it still said expires 11-28-07. now they changed it to expires 11-26-07.

really shady, but i cant say i'll take my business elsewhere, since they are the best option on so many items.
isn't it more Paypal's fault rather than Newegg's fault? It's not Newegg's fault they sell expensive computer items
Yeah but the max cash back is $50 no matter where you spend it. it can be across multiple purchases and sites. i still think its f'ed :bomb:

i cant find the link, but a while back TRU had buy an arcade 360 and get any game for 50% off. It should be able to be stacked if it can be, for 260+shipping/tax thats a new release + the console.

Wow!!! This is super cheesy. Apparently anyone who submitted the order after 1pm is up shits creek. I'm complaining to BBB on this one, it's absolutely bait and switch. I had them send the chat transcript to my email account. I'm so mad!!

Sounds like it's really over then. Well sucks for me and all the other people who were at work all day, but considering that it was a whopping %20 off at a hardware site like Newegg I'm not surprised Paypal burned through their funds in record time. I've been on the fence about buying a new computer but I would have spent $250 to get in on the promotion in a heartbeat. Might still go for that killer 4 gigs of RAM for $70 deal.

I pre-ordered NFL Tour and Burnout Paradise for the PS3 with free shipping, had $10 in my Paypal account.

Should be getting about $22.75 or so back.

for those considering the psp on dell.com...

it's shipping in february at the earliest...

i'm in no rush...but DAMN that's a long time...
I pre-ordered a couple games at the EA Store, so I know I should be getting at least $22.50 back...
Me too. It's still working there, and said 20% off Paypal during the checkout process, so I'm not worried.

I just read on another site that Dell has pulled out of this as Newegg just did.

Yep, I just checked the PayPal deal page and Dell is not included on the page anymore. I was considering buying a PS3 but tax is $30 so I would only have $20. Still would have been a good deal though.
