From now until further notice all preplayed PS2,XBOX and GC titles are 3.99. From the Movie Gallery store I work at I picked up 2 copies of Mercenaries 2 and Guitar Hero 3.

Also if your Movie Gallery has a Game Zone all preplayed Wii, 360 and PS3 games are 25% off. Most of the next gen games that are preplayed in the Game Zone sections come as trade-ins so you can generally find good copies its just that the selection wont be as good as a Gamestop.

Edit by Io - For those with Hollywood Videos around note that this sale applies only to stores that DO NOT have Gamecrazy's attached. Also, it is still highly YMMV at any given store. Some don't participate (manager's discretion) and some are just clueless and think you are talking about the concurrent $3.99 movie deal (which requires 2 rentals and only applies to movies $12.99 and under). I've gone to about 6 stores and have gotten about 4 different versions of the deal. There is a code they can scan that makes all these games come out to $3.99 no matter whether you rent or not and no matter what the original prices are - it is just YMMV whether they can A) Find that code and B) Choose to apply it to the games you want to buy ;).
I called one HW and asked for a TIV quote on Gears of Wars. In a knee-jerk reaction he said, 10.45. I thanked him and called another HW who said it was 30.
Did the first one you called have a GameCrazy?

I can confirm that GoW still gets $30.... Also I found out there are 2 more hwv that weren't on google or the hwv site that I am going to check out after work...

hey guys, I bought a game from hollywood video (Zelda Twillight princess)
and the disk was scratched pretty bad,
If I go to a gamestop, how much would it cost to clean the disk?

You can ask Hollywood Video to try to buff it. It would be free since you purchased it there.

Have it buffed at Hollywood Video if it doesn't work. They should do it for free since you bought it there.

went to my local HV and 30 TIV for GoW (2:00 PM PST 11/24). also asked if they converted anything and they didnt. :(
Just to confirm, HMV only offers store credit for trade-ins right?

Also, is their store credit usable at GameCrazy stores? Or only at HWVs?
What happens, for the most part, is that, by default, your store credit will be stored by default on that store's account. Meaning that you can only spend at that particular store-- but if you ask, they should be able to put it on a giftcard. The way I do it is I ask if I can purchase a giftcard with the store credit-- I can't imagine anyone turning you down on that, and I haven't heard of anyone getting turned down. Then you have a Hollywood Video giftcard, good for any HW store or any Game Crazy store.

They turned me down on that specific request today, stating that they want to make sure that you spend it at that given location, because essentially all of the stores are competing with each other. I am not sure the logic makes sense, but that's what they told me when I asked.

I was all geared up to take 3 GOW for $90 credit too, but scaled back to just 1 and couldn't find more than 5 games to flip to GS. I've still got $7 sitting at that location, which is a bit of a bummer because it's by far not the closest location.

I think I learned my lesson on this one though, when a great deal like this comes along, you have to find out if there is any flip potential before spending cash. I would have much rather spent $140 @ GS to get $210 at HWV that would have flipped to $500-600 back to GS instead of spending the $200 cash like I did. I was hoping that there would still be a few games worth flipping, but we are cleared out in Phoenix.
Was anyone looking to buy Mario Party 6:gc:?
Ya me, but my friend is giving it to me so
Im looking for mario party 4 though

Sorry to those who had to go look for it. [Capa]

Anyway, Im supposed to keep my trading list to a minimal on this thread. so again, just pm me if you want to trade/sell any of your gc games to me

Very very slim pickins around here. I went to a store I only went to once about a week ago and there were all of 2 games that had any potential at GS: Tekken 5 and FF XII. I just needed one more to pair up with that DaH2 the other store wouldn't take and I figured FF XII was the "better" $4.75 game. I got $4.75 for that (as expected) and $5.75 for DaH2 (PS2).

I know I've said this before, but if you're still determined (and lucky) enough, you can still find some stores that haven't been totally looted yet. And yes, I invest maybe more than some of in travel expenses, but it can still be way worth the time, since I plan these excursions along with trips I already have to take...Here's what I found today:

PS2:
Bully
Champions of Norrath
Cabela's Big Game Hunter x4
Cabela's Trophy Bucks x3
Crash of the Titans
GTA: SA x2
GH encore: Rocks the 80's
ICO x3
LBM x5
NFS: Pro Street
Spartan: Total Warrior
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter
Warriors

Xbox:
DDR: Ultramix (whoops! got this confused w/ Extreme)
Fatal Frame 2
GTA III: The Xbox Collection (for my collection)
SW: BF
SW: BF2
SW: KOTOR
Warriors (for a friend)

GC:
Harvest Moon: Magical Melody x2
Lego SW II: Original Trilogy
Starfox Assault
Super Mario Sunshine

It is only roughly a 2x flip total when you factor in the bonus, and I will actually make less 'profit' since I had to rent a car for my work trip. But the way I see it is that the $ spent on the rental car/gas, etc...would have come out of my pocket anyway. So by making a few extra stops along the way, I got those expenditures for free (again, I already had to rent a car today), and get a bonus $70-80 in GS credit to add to my coifers for the big B2G1 coming up...I'll never be too busy to turn my nose up at a free game or two!

picked up about ten games last night... Flipped 6 of them immediately to GS for about 72 in credit (66 now after picking up a couple gb games and a mega man x7 complete) taking the other 4 and selling them to recoup the $44 spent... Doing pretty well from this sale from the games I got off credit, to the games I kept for my collection
Gears is still $30. :) Flipped 2 copies from Gamestop to net me a brand new copy with extra credit.
You traded in two used copies of Gears just so you could get a new copy of Gears? Interesting.
:whistle2:s
I don't think I'm reading his post wrong. He traded in two used copies of Gears, bought a new copy of Gears and kept the extra credit, right?

Yeah I picked up 14 games with the $60, they only rang up 13, and have ~5 left on my account there, dumped those at Gamestop and got a new 2-disc edition, and have $36 left.

Edit: For the collector in me, the manual and disc are the same as the original release. I'm going to pick up three more copies of the game used tomorrow during the B2G1, and if I can find one with a mint cover, there I go, complete original release all shiny and mint. I put the bonus disc in a jewel case. I like the disc but there's no reason I need to waste a 2 disc case on it.

Hey everyone...Did fairly well tonight...

BOUGHT
Lego IJ (2x)
Lego BM (2x)
Mercenaries 2 (2x)
Mario Baseball
Guitar Hero 3
GTA San Andreas

Decided to keep San Andreas (although they had about 6 more - didn' realize GS TiV was $10) and was able to flip the rest for a cool $110. Going back to check what I missed tomorrow!

I cleaned Milwaukee out. Sorry. ;)

At least Wauwatosa and west allis..

Got an employee to use the coupon with 360 games. It went well.

Apparently there was a memo in this weeks marketing kit for hwv to NOT ring up next gen games with the 3.99 coupon.

Also I've gotten stuck with a hot coffee version of gta sa, anybody want it for a few bucks + shipping?

WHICH STORE DID you get them to use the code on 360s?!
68th and state?
did you just sneak it in? or just asked?

i cleaned out pretty much all the stores first day except 108th... you must have beat me there lol

i got all the lego batman from 76th......

did you get a lego indy from 68th? i was there... and for some reason i left it... .lol

whens the milwaukee meeting? lol

cheers!

bug_nuts

68th and state did the 360 games. There was a larger clueless dude who was told by the manager it worked on everything by accident.

I got most of the best stuff from 68th, I know a guy who works there too.

108th wasn't bad either. They both have lots of games left, just not many good ones.

I hope this goes to 3 for $10 or 2 for $5 in a few weeks to expand the flipping possibilities.

I can't be the only one wading through tons of $2-$4 tiv games at their Hollywood.
Has anyone had any trouble trading in more than one copy of Gears of War at a time?
I traded in 2 at one HWV, and the clerk warned me that if they have too many in stock, the computer won't allow the trade. He scanned them, and the computer allowed them both, no problem. I think someone else beat me to that store, btw, as I walked up to the counter with my 2 copies, I noticed a copy behind the counter that looked like it had just been traded in. There were still a few decent finds at that store, though.

The GoW flip could be dead. I called a store and got a quote of 10.75. I'll try to get a hold of another one. This store, unlike the other one yesterday, seemed to actuallyl ook it up instead of blurting it immediately.

even if it does it will be going off the original tagged price as they have to enter something to make them 3.99.
Why can't they have have a promo UPC they scan that makes a game of any cost 3 for 10 or even ring up as 3.33?
they could but this past weekend they couldnt do anything like that and unless the deal makes any price game/movie 3 for 10 it just wont work

*cries* I was going to go flipping today... early bird catches the worm i guess
Every store I called TIV quote page made their computers freeze. Tried one more just now and got quoted 27.27 :whistle2:s
*ponders* what part of the US you calling? I tried once, and the clerk didn't know how find the TIV...
...well the current deal makes any game for PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube 3.99. I fail to see why it couldn't be implented.
they have to type something in to make them 3.99 if they didnt then i would think it would work. i will reiterate before people start saying stupid things:
THIS A COMPLETELY HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION, THERE IS NO 3 FOR 10 DEAL GOING ON NOW.
