You would be shocked how many students feel it is within their rights to get a grade they want simply by virtue of paying to take the course. It's also quite humorous to see how many people think writing vulgar, unprofessional things in a course that is all about presentation and putting your best foot forward for your major and your future career should net them anything more than an F, especially when outlined in the syllabus.

Then again, the majority of those students barely last a full four years for obvious reasons.
 
You deserved the grade, if you didn't adhere to the assignment. Does she say how long the speech must be? Delineate a form of reasoning? Require structure? Because that's what all my public speaking classes required.

That said, it was a stupid question.

If, however, you failed the class on the basis of failing this assignment, you were doing crap anyway.

When I first read it, it sounded like he fail the class, but now I think you're right, it was just the assignment.

If that's just it, take it like a man and speak with her after class and deal with it. Maybe she also was having a bad day and didn't want to deal with your bs and decided it was a poor speech.

Last I checked, not everyone feels the need to take out a bad day on others, and that right there = no sympathy. Having a bad day is not a liscense to be a dick/shitty/rude to anyone, and if that was your only motivation for doing what you did then you deserve to fail the assignment. Leave your personal bullshit at the door, teachers aren't there to babysit you.

A teacher was a tough grader, ok, but you're complaining because your attendence effected your grade? Most classes work that way, in fact many at my school automatically fail you if you miss more than 5 classes in a semester.

So naturally, the best course of action is to single him out over something completely irrelevant, like his sexuality? Tell me, if he was black, would you have made "a few black jabs here and there" and made racist jokes? Grow up.
 
The thing that no one has picked up on in this whole discussion is how utterly dumb and useless the assignment was. What kind of a topic is that for a speech in a public speech class?

Does the OP go to the local community college?

Back when you were in community college giving speeches about dipshits drowning, I was going to a real school studying organic chemistry and economic theory.

Talked to her today, she said "Yes, you did give an adequate response and i will reconsider your grade." Not bad, I admit I was in the wrong but she took it a step far placing my semester grade in jeopardy like that. I was getting an 'A' in the class and I am not a smart ass in class. I continue to do the work and can only hope she clears this up.
By the way the term 'dipshit' was used these are questions from the other students in the class not her.
I understand failing me on the PROJECT but because i gave a smart ass response to 1 of the 100 questions I was asked that day I may fail the entire course, that is my problem with this.
 
The reason you failed is because you didnt make your speech about what a dumb fucking question it is you were being asked. Your teacher sounds like she's sitting around with her friends getting high for the first time.

if you feel youre being unfairly punished go to the dean of the dept speech falls under and let them know. be sure to have documentation of all the work youve done and be sure to look over the assignment again and see if what you did wasnt allowed under her rules.[/quote]
 
I think you should go talk to her calmly and explain your situation first before you drop the class. Tell her you had an exceptionally bad day and you know you didnt give any serious thought or effort to the speech. Also tell her you realize it cant be made up but ask her for another chance in the class ( that's if you were doing well before this incident).
If you were doing poorly before this, then it sounds like there wont be anything to salvage.
Everyone has bad days and hopefully she will understand as long as you approach it as an adult and express your willingness to try harder in the future.

It seems pretty far late into the semester to be dropping stuff and I think you should try your best to stay in and get your credits. If it doersn't work out, you learned a valuable lesson and you will have a funny story to tell your kids when you get older.

I'm a bit fuzzy on it as well, but I think it was a game store, like EB or Gamestop. Not sure if it was a real story or a suggestion, but in the heat of anger, a magazine rack is kicked over. There's also something about glitter being thrown about as you make a hasty retreat out. That might be a different story altogether though.

Yeah the glitter than was my story that I ripped off some fat comic on last comic standing.


It got a huge laugh within the thread of the mag rack story..but it didnt have really anything to do with the story.

Yeah, it sounds like a half-assed answer and did nto follow the instructions. Maybe she just gave you an "F" for that speech...not sure how the rest of your class went, but when you half-ass something, that is supposed to be your final...I'm assuming since it's the last day of class, you don't really deserve to pass.

Now, if you gave more logic of why you would let them all die, that would be a different story.
 
Are you in Florida OP? Is the teacher remotely hawt?

If so simply bang her, then she can't fail you on account of being afraid to go to jail for having sex with a minor.
