N64 game case project - live!
Can I just point out how worthwhile this is?

Haven't gotten around to putting them in the cases yet, but the printouts look fantastic. Thanks!
Thanks very much for the compliment and I'm glad you like the printouts.

Well, I ordered cases and used these awesome covers so I think it is my time to contribute. I posted these N64 box scans up before, but it was lost on that server some time ago. So, this time, I am hosting it on my online storage. I have photoshop, but I do not have the time (school) or the skills needed to create the covers. These scans are taking a bunch of space on my storage (I only have 25mb), so once covers are created for that game, the original scans will be removed and replaced with another one. PLEASE ONLY CLICK THESE LINKS IF YOU ARE ACTUALLY GOING TO USE THESE SCANS TO CREATE COVERS (as I am not sure how much bandwidth I am allocated). I will post a message before I remove the scans, but they should be up for a good month or so. After I finish my n64 boxes, I have tons of GB color and GBA boxes to scan. I tried imageshack but for some reason it wasn't working.

All boxes are NTSC (USA) and the original 1st Edition (I.E. no player's choice).
Included are all sides, top, bottom, front, and back

Donald Duck: Goin Quackers!
Crusin USA top
Crusin USA Front
Crusin USA bottom
Crusin USA back

I've made these scans a l-o-n-g time ago, last October I think. Right now I do not have the time to go and rescan these game boxes. Also, it depends on what kind of printer you use. 300 dpi looks amazing when I'm printing the inserts out compared to 200 dpi, so I'm going to be sticking with 300 dpi.

I found a place: yourfilelink.com free 50 mb of web storage, so I have been uploading game box scans on there.

Also, I have Wave Race 1st edition uploaded.

Beetle Adventure Racing

XG2 (Extreme-G 2) Game Box scan is now up.

Top Gear Rally

Top Gear Rally 2

Top Gear Overdrive (NTSC USA Version)

And here is the last one. Good luck and thanks for the amazing covers! :applause::applause::applause:

Nagano Olympics

I pointed this out on the SNES game cover project thread and I thought I would do the same for this one. The 300 dpi resolution for these scans is overkill. A 200 dpi resolution works perfectly and also decreases the file size. I recently made some inserts using the image files found on Snack Bar and I actually decreased the resolution from 300 dpi to 200 dpi for better image quality on the print outs. I know that may sound crazy but believe me, it works. Also, if your scanner software has a "descreen" option this should definitely be used.

I'm not suggesting that people go back and make new scans of what they've already done. All I'm saying is that 200 dpi works very well with these images and also helps to better utilize storage space for those who are concerned about losing it to large file sizes.

Got D.Duck, Cruisin USA and XG2 down and will convert them to covers for upload to Imageshack and Snackbar asap

Cheers for those. Thought I was the only one with boxes for a while there :)

I just won some N64 games on Ebay... do we need these for the cause? If so, I should be getting them sometime this week and will scan them asap...

Quake
Quake II
Paperboy
Robotron 64

Well ..... did a quick pull together of one of 4tygames covers and came up with

but I cant get it uploaded to Snackbar. Dreaded 404 error...again.

Maybe Snowcone has too many covers at present and doesn't want any more until he's cleared them :)

Yes Schenley we do need all those game box scans. I have been working on the list of what we have and do not have. I'll try and get it posted when I am finished.

Thanks TheValeman. I sent a polite email to Snowcone, I bet he is really busy right now, so it may be a while before those scans are posted.

actually, I went back a little bit, and TheValeman already created a cover for Quake 64. In your message Schenley you mentioned that you won both Quake and Quake II, but there was only one Quake game for the n64. If it is a PAL box, then go ahead and scan it.

I don't now if i understood you correctly but there are two Quake games for N64, Quake and Quake II. I'm quite sure since I own them both ;)
TheValeman created a cover for Quake 2 (along with over 20 great covers). We still have no cover for Quake 64. But I think it's only a matter of time since this thread got really popular and productive lately :)

wow, what do you know, you are right, there are two Quake games for the N64. Sorry about that. Yeah, we need the original Quake cover. Anyways, I received an email from Snowcone:

"Thanks for dropping me a line. I started a new job and am working on
getting Photoshop setup at my new job. Once that happens I'll do a big
update and they will all be online. I will also look into the problems
with the site. Thanks."
N64 List

I have finished updating the list. Let me know if there are any errors and I will fix them.
Cool - thanks! I would note that on the Space Invaders cover that I made we really need more than just the spine - the front and back are all crappy from using very low-res images I randomly found on the net.
Finished editing my posts. Removed the old ones (From page 15 or something like that).

They are now Cyrix-Friendly.
ROFL. I wouldn't have bothered. I've done a truckload of posts too lately ..... every time I put a picture up so people would know what's been upped to Slackbar ..... er .... slip of the finger there ..... Snackbar ;)

Maybe I should get a slap on the wrists too !!

At least you put some boxscans up.....although it would have been better to seperate the images just a little....couple have a little overlap which means I had to trim them down really close to the titles etc.... Top Gear Rally being the main one on the back cover. Still ..... good on you for contributing.

Now..... which of the 10+ boxes do I look at scanning?

sorry about that. I know this sounds weird, but I cut up my n64 and gameboy boxes a few years back because I do not have the space to store them. I like the artwork so I decided to keep them. I taped the entire box together and I keep them in a notebook. So I layed the entire box/page in the scanner. The only box that is still intact is Crusin USA and I won that game last summer.

Also, I received an email from Snowcone. He is currently getting settled with his new job. He told me that he will make a major update as soon as possible under his circumstances.

Just keep making the covers TheValeman, I'll keep the list updated when another of your awesome covers comes out. :)

The covers have started appearing on Snackbar

Go get them guys...

Nice incentive to start working on them again. :D

And great to see you getting back into it Snow.. Hope the new job isn't taking up all your time. Gotta have a life too.

Thank you everyone that has been uploading scans. I just need Turok, Knockout Kings and NFL Quarterback Club 98 to finish my collection.

Top Gear Rally from 4tygames pics.......

Nagano 98 .... Another 4tygames contribution :D

Here's another 4tygames special ........ Cruisin USA

And another great 4tygames contribution..... XG2

As requested here's...... Quarterback Club 98 from my collection..

Finally we have Quarterback Club 99

Nitey nite everyone

Great job on the covers! :applause: They look awesome, I can't wait till my order of boxes gets in from mediashelving.com. I was put on backorder, isn't it Mid to late January yet?

I updated the list

Another awesome job from The Valeman. The covers look really great and with Extreme G2 you did yet another cover that I was missing. Thanks to you my list of missing covers got way shorter lately :)
Thumbs up buddy

Great to see this project come alive again! Mario Golf is the only one I'm missing now, but I'm glad to see others are getting they're collections polished off. Thanks to everyone! :)

Yea, my mediashelving.com order was backordered AGAIN. They told me another two weeks.

I just got the 4 boxed games from ebay.

Paperboy (box is a little worn, but still scanable)
Quake (NOT Quake 64)
Quake II
Robotron 64 - played this for like an hour last night! Nice!

Do we need those scanned for the cause?

Quake and Paperboy aren't on Snackbar....we have the other two though

Here's All-Star Baseball 99 scanned from my personal collection.

and Here's NBA JAm 99 ..... also from my collection

Here's 4tygames Donald Duck Going Quackers.

Boy was that one a mess due to the cut corners etc....still I think I made it look okay. As with everything..... if you dont like it you know what to do :D

Here's Operation Winback PAL from my stash of boxes .......

Heres Body Harvest PAL .... the butt edition :)

Here's a member contributed scan...NHL 99... backs a little askew buy better than nothing

And here's Knockout Kings 2000 from a member

I have now uploaded ALL of the new covers to Snackbar. just have to wait for Snowcone to update the site. I had to apply a small amount of compression to the 4tygames covers to get them below 5mb's for the site to accept them.

That's the last one from me for a while until I get some new boxes in. Wife got the Visa bill the other day and blew her stack so until I get that paid off someone else will have to take up the flag and keep the goodies flowing .....

These the media shelving cases?
Nope, the media shelving cases only hold game cartridges (SNES/Genesis/N64). The media shelving cases do not hold CDs.

By the way, I updated the list. Great job TheValeman on the covers! Sorry you had such a hard time with the Donald Duck and Top Gear Rally. I was wondering if you could still do the Beetle Adventure Racing cover or the NTSC version of Top Gear Overdrive :). I made the NTSC 1st edition of Wave Race cover. That Top Gear Overdrive Cover looks too hard for me to attempt, sorry, my skills are not that advanced in photoshop.

Not according to Mediashelving themselves

Our Universal "Combo" Game Case solves your game rental and storage needs. The versatile case will accommodate: Nintendo 64, Super NES, Sega Genesis, Electronic Arts, CD formats with and without jewel case.

I don't know, those on ebay, just did not look like the mediashelving case that I own. (I only own one, I bought it off of ebay with Star Wars Shadows of the Empire, thats how I discovered this thread.) The mediashelving case does not contain a center hole to hold the cd with. I would really ask the seller before you buy. Give them the link to the mediashelving site.

EDIT - I decided to host some pictures of what the mediashelving case looks like on the inside:

These images are pretty small so that they can be sent easily as an attachment.

Note that the MediaShelving cases do not have holders to hold the manuals.
Hope these help ;)!

These cases look more like the MediaShelving cases.

I didn't bother with TopGear Overdrive as I'd already scanned my PAL box in and created one which coming off my intact mint box would be more accurate, eg, no editing required. Same for Wave Race. I scanned my spine in and used Gamescanners front/back to complete the existing box on Snack-bar.

I missed Beetle Racing somehow....... I'll look into it

EDIT. Here it is .......... upping to Snack-bar as I write this.....

And if anyone actually wants a Wave Race with the red border let me know and I'll scan my mint PAL box in for the good of all mankind :)

I have been trying to get some outreach on this project and I found someone interested that has tons of game boxes that we do not have yet. He has a website of all of his game boxes (poor image quality). Currently he is in college, but he said that once he goes home on a break, he will make scans of the sides of his game boxes.

Wow, that's great news. He's got a lot of rare covers like Sin & Punishment and a few others that some people here will appreciate. Lets just hope he finds the time to take a break soon :)
Quake and Paperboy aren't on Snackbar....we have the other two though
Cool, I'll scan those along with these purchases from yesterday:

Gex 64
Glover
International Track and Field 2000
Nagano Winter Olympics 98
Rat Attack

I bought these specifically for this thread!

I should get to them Monday or Tuesday...

so as soon as I get it I'll scan and up it to Imageshack and Snackbar for everyone. Of course if it didn't come out in USA-land it might be a waste of time for most of you guys

Wicked!! We have Nagano 98 from 4tygames but the rest are new.
If I can sell off my loose carts etc I'll get some new boxed games to add to the collection. Got my eyes on SF Rush Extreme Racing at present :D
