N64 game case project - live!
And how many games actually use the mem card, anyway? Like 5?
ROFL..... so like.... that means I've got a mempak for each game that uses it then. Jeez ..... maybe I need to find a few of those cases too.
Nah ..... I have five controllers so I've got one in each of them. They're all really tight too so just swap-a-controller works for me...No boxes needed

EDIT. Snowcone has now updated Snack-bar so go get the full size covers if you need 'em!!!

this time it's that bad-ass game.........

BattleTanx - Global Assault PAL

BTW. Game scanner has the front/back NTSC but they differ so I haven't used my spine to finish that one. But ...... if you guys want me to .... more than happy to fulfill a red sidebar request

What's Cover #80 going to be? Why it's ...... Turok Rage Wars NTSC ........

...... courtesy of my PAL box which is still to come for any black sidebar luvvers out there. I used the spine on my box as they have the same front/backs so it's reasonable to assume the spine will be the same as well

And just to prove it ...... Turok rage Wars PAL ...... luv the black

OK..... I relented and added the PAL spine to the NTSC version of BattleTanx - Global Assault.

EDIT: For all those racer gamers out there with .......

Yep ..... as promised ..... Aerogauge PAL. Interstingly...this cover had absolutely no title on either spine. Weird or what? So I overlayed the spine on the side flap onto the spine so you know what game it is when sitting on your shelf.

Enjoy!!

FYI that I posted everything that has been uploaded. I am recoding the page that displays these covers to make it faster and easier to use.

Great stuff Snowcone. Thought you'd gone AWOL there for a while :)

All good things come to an end and I've now updated all my PAL scan's apart from a better copy San Francisco Rush to replace the existing one.

I have one more game coming .... sort of a going away present to remember me by .... that being Excite Bike 64 PAL. I'm not sure how good a condition it is in although the EBAY pic of the cover looks promising.

So once they're done you'll get a rest from N64 covers Snowcone .... almost no-one else has uploaded anything since I stumbled upon this forum last December.

Yeah. That is unfortunate. Someone send this man some games so he is motivated to make covers.

I think we should donate money or something like that so that someone from USA gets him some cases, he totally deserves them.

I just got a pretty much brand new, barely used copy of Pokemon Stadium today for $2. So, I'll scan the box, but the box is bigger than the average n64 box because it housed the transfer pak.

N64 List Updated

It is spring break here in the US. I've made a couple of announcements about this project on a few boards, hopefully I will get some helpful replies.

Thanks for the kind thoughts guys.

The reason I'm letting this go is pure cost.

If I had owned all of those games I scanned prior to coming here it wouldn't be a problem. I don't though. I own some 30 odd games. The rest I won on Auctions through the likes of Ebay etc. The problem is postage costs. Ebay operates out of Australia. Every game I purchase, even for $5 costs another $12-$15 in postage. So I end up paying approx $20 Australian which converts to $24.00NZ. I cant get much more than that reselling for most games which when you add seller fee's equals a loss. If they only cost $5 I could deal with that but they dont. Harder to get games cost significantly more. Battletanx cost $20 on top of postage for instance.

There comes a time when you realise the cause is costing you money.... and that time has come for me. Everyone here knows what I am saying or else you guys would be buying games over there and the list would be diminishing at a rapid pace.

As long as I've managed to make a few people here happy that they now have a cover for one of their fave games I'm happy I spent the money....albeit more than I wanted.

I'll get those last two up as soon as I can. You OK replacing the old AUS SF Rush -Extreme Racing cover Snowcone?
Well, if someone else were to supply raw scans, would you still be willing to make the covers?
No worries. I'll still be frequentling the forum.

Just not buying lots of games anymore. Never say never though......

Is there somewhere we can set up a repository of ......

Yep ..... how many of you .... like me .... have carts purchased from video stores with ripped labels? You can get nice label paper now which with a decent inkjet printer/colour laser can give you an excellent replacement for those dodgy originals.

Gotta be worth a thought right? And if you scan them at 300dpi they should come out the correct size if printed at 300dpi which makes it easy to do. And they're 500k in size so if we cant host somewhere we can imageshack them ... maybe to a global imageshack directory where everyone can upload to..

Any thoughts?

I Love that idea.

I went through the same incident last summer when I bought Aerofighters Assault off of eBay. The seller said the game was in perfect condition. Well, when I got the cartridge, it was wrapped in newspaper and thrown in a brown envelope, the label was ripped and the contacts were in almost unusable condition. I restored the cartridge and replaced the label. I even wrote a how-to guide on how to replace a game label. You can view it here

Thankfully someone on the official Nintendo Forum had a copy of that game and was willing to scan the cartridge for me. I have over 40+ games for the n64 so I can easily contribute towards this project.

I will scan and post the Pokemon Stadium box tomorrow.

Excellent little how-to buddy. But what the hang is that label maker contraption and how does it work?
Never seen one over here before so spill the beans :)
How much does it cost....consumable prices etc etc.

Here is the side of the box for Pokemon Stadium. The scans on GameScanner.org (Front, Back) looked a little bit better than mine. If the fading is an issue on those GameScanner scans, I can rescan my box, but the stickers on my box pulled up a little of the artwork (but it may be easier to fill in).

GameScanner.org also has a complete scan of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (Front, both sides, and back), that has not been made into a cover yet.

The label maker contraption is a Xyron Machine. They are really cheap. Here is the exact one I have.

You basically print off what you want to make a sticker through a regular printer. Feed it through the machine, turn the crank and out comes a permanent sticker. Its really easy to use.

Weird question, but does anyone have a template for a PS2 version of this project?

All I really want to do is take one of my PS1 games (Time Crisis) and make a nice case for it so will blend well with the other games in the series on my shelf. So, anyone? :)

Sorry man, wrong thread. This is the thread you need.

I am getting imageshack login created on my walla.com email acct. As soon as I get registered I'll advise the key so everyone here can upload labels to imageshack.
That way anyone can log in and download one as they need it.
Let's hope no-one decides it's fun to delete them.

4tygames ...... feel like adding a line to the n64list re PAL/NTSC labels?
Or maybe another list?

No one else is making comment on whether it's worthwhile ...so hard to gauge what level of interest there is for this ..........

All of my labels are fine, but I could see how some people would find this useful.

On the other hand, most everyone has access to a printer, thus making the covers a possibility for most people (except those in New Zealand  ). However, most people probably will not be able to print labels/stickers, I would guess.

Speaking of which, I'll be in New Zealand on vacation from April 4-9. I can't wait to visit!

Oh wow!!

Where are you going to/staying in New Zealand?

As for printing labels .... well .... one person here was kind enough to forward me boxes showing the spirit of kindness is alive and well in the forum. My guess is if some one needed a label and covered the physical costs it wouldn't be an issue. Hang...postage of a label isn't an biggie... :)

I'm keen on buying on of those contraptions myself at that cost just for backup.

Actually, I don't know yet. My cousin won a trip for 2 people so I'm tagging along. We're flying into Auckland, but I have no idea what hotel(s) we're staying at or where we'll be traveling.

I'd be willing to try to get some game cases to you if the logistics can be worked out (can someone who already has some get them to me within the next two weeks, and then can I get them to you once there).

I hope the weather stays good for you. You're flying out of your spring into our Autumn....only 23degree's celsius here at present.....brrr.....LOL

Won a trip to NZ? How old are you guys? Should grab a car and see Rotorua [Rottonrua we call it cause of sulphur smell from geysers etc], Taupo etc.

We are both 28. He didn't win it in a contest (I just realized that's how my original message looked) - he's a salesman and he sold enough to qualify for the trip. I should have said he "earned" the trip :)

Edit: wow that sounds even worse. It's not one of those door-to-door jobs - he works for a large company that does technology research.

ROFLMAO ...... you're digging yerself an even bigger hole there buddy :D

My brother lives in USA. Does work on Milit..y aerospace type stuff. But he's sooo damn busy he doesn't even email so I came to the conclusion long ago it was pointless getting him to send me boxes. Hell would freeze over before then I reckon.

How many cases could you carry in your luggage? Dont think they're heavy...just bulky. How long would it take to get a box from the vendor to you? Happy to Paypal someone but if you can only carry 10 it wouldn't be worth while getting a whole box to you.

Unfortunately, it's way too late to get them from the vendor - that takes forever. I just found out about this trip 10 days ago or so. I thought some people in this thread had recently gotten shipments of 100, some of which could be mailed to me?

I probably couldn't get too many in my luggage, but I could probably just check an extra box entirely.

Does anyone here on the forum have spare cases and a PAYPAL account so I can pay them for them? And will forward them to Backlash? PM me with a costing for delivery to Plano, Texas?

Here's hoping .... gosh .... if I get a good amount of cases it'll make me all the more eager to get new box scans. Speaking of scans .... I finished SF Rush Extreme Racing PAL so I'll up that to replace the existing version. Much better colour fidelity. And Quake II PAL is coming too

I'll sort out Tony Hawke Skateboarding 3 off Gamescanners too. Never knew there was more than one Hawk game on N64. Learn somethng new every day !!!

If you logout and log back in with

--- Removed due to non-authorised use ---

you'll have access to all the label's I've scanned, along with 4tygames Aerofighter's Assault.

If you are going to contribute please scan clean labels at 300dpi. If you don't feel comfortable trimming them just lop off the cart sides as close as possible and i'll clean them up. And when naming them specify PAL or NTSC or JAP in the title. Much easier to work out what we have and dont have without having to view the file.

Please don't delete labels out of there. Just mention why something needs deleting here and I'll cover it daily.

Cheers

The N64 cases are the same size as the SNES ones, right?

I'd be interested in buying like 8 or so, for a dollar a piece + shipping.

PM ME PLEASE!
Here is a great website for N64 Labels.
Great stuff. Saw that site last year then it disappeared so I thought Big N had shut it down.
Good to see it again. :D're great.

EDIT. Downloaded most of the labels. Gotta say that a lot are really low dpi and those that are 300dpi or greater look like they've been upscaled and dont look that crisp. Still....until we get new ones they're great

Man .... that site's out of date. Oct 2000 was the last news entry .... sheesh .... don't tell me I lost site of it that long ago

Tada!

Zelda OOT Custom Cover!

This one doesn't have the right resolution but I uploaded the full-sized one to Snackbar. Although the colors messed up for a reason :S Do you think Snowcone will let me reupload it? Maybe if we ask him to delete this one and let me upload it again.

If I give the original PSD file to someone, will you be able to convert it into JPG without the colors messing up? Or maybe I should try using PNG?
:S That's just weird, I click on it and can see the cover just fine. Maybe I'll just upload it as a TIFF...

Does anyone have a site host that can accept a file bigger than 1 MB?
Just make sure it's under 1mb and upload it again to imageshack. Post new link and we'll have a look.

I found something better than Imageshack.us today. It's called box.net and it is amazing!

You get 1 Gb of web storage space which is perfect for storing scans and final covers while waiting for snowcone to upload. It's fast too with no advertisements!

For an example, look here. I am going to submit some scans to the GBA/ DS cover art project.

Looks good :)

Here's my public dir of N64 labels. Haven't added the ones of the previous mentioned site as they are not the greatest. If you guys scan your labels at 300dpi and imageshack them I'll up them to this directory so it becomes a repository. I'll also keep them backed up in case boxnet goes the way of previous free webspace portals.

Anyone here have Amorines they can scan the label from?
Geez last time I check the project was around the 20s and now its up to 46.2%, Thanks Valeman!
No worries ..... :)

I have F1 Grand Prix II and Mickeys Speedway USA both coming from the UK.
Also trying to scrounge up funds for Earthworm Jim and a couple of other hard to find games as well
Is anyone going to give me feedback for my OOT cover? :(
If it didn't come up with an error we would. Just get the missing pic icon.
Look a few posts back and you'll see this:

http://www.box.net/public/kc94e2d5kq

:D
That's where I'm looking.

You see the mini icon but when you click to load it into the viewing pane....nothing.

Ok..... when you download it all looks good. Hmmm.... what program are you using to create these. It appears it may not be totally compatible with the previewer on Boxnet.

Pic looks nice. Obviously a lot of effort went into it. Good on you. My personal preference is still with the standard sideways boxes but good on you for nice alternative for those liking that style of cover.
Problem is though that there's only like one cover done..... lots to go. Still....keep you busy eh what?

Well, I'm not planning to do ALL of them, only the ones I have. And by the way, save the picture and you'll see that the colors aren't messed up when you see it on your PC.

I bought MegaMan 64 and it came today, so I'm going to scan that and send it to Snackbar, and I'll make a custom cover as well.

My Dr. Mario 64 and Paper Mario covers are about 80% done but I haven't gone back to them again.

Also, I'm making a Mario 64 one, too, but I need more hi res pics, which I lack :(

I can see a problem with the covers, we have a list of all of them but some of them show complete when it fact theres an AU, a English and a US version of the cover (in most cases the US and AU ones are red and the English ones are black. If it says complete then it might put other people off uploading the black UK version that some of us would like.

Alright! I discovered why the colors looked messed up on a browser but they looked ok when seen on the computer.

I had set the color mode to CMYK so that it had more printing quality. So now I changed it to RGB and it looks good on Imageshack, not to mention the file size was reduced considerably.
