Namco X Capcom- Street fighters in rpgs, what can i say?

It's never coming to the US, so don't get your hopes up.

No annoucements by Namco and the game has already been released in Japan for a few weeks now... I think that they think there are too many older and obscure characters for it to be a real hit over here.

I'm considering importing this game if it doesn't come out here. I'll just have to get a fliptop or a modchip for my ps2. I've never imported any games before.

[quote name='doodle777_98']check this out, i found a petition to bring it overseas.

Yea, there's a couple of those that I've seen.

It's just the massive work of translating the game, adding voices, and whatever else that has to be done is probably too much for Namco to do.

In addition, there is also no character database in the game, meaning people over here in the US will have no way of knowing who some of the obscure characters are (they'd have to dig through the net). Games like Super Robot Wars offers a whole database on all the characters you get / fight - it's quite nice. One of the main problems noted was that "many characters are unfamiliar to the Playstation era of gamers".

It's also been noted that this game is very easy, although long, and the characters come in pairs that can never be changed. Ryu and Ken will always be together, same with Felicia and King. That kind of kills it for me right there.

I would have liked to have seen newer characters such as Viewtiful Joe, but Namco mostly stuck to lesser known people, espically for their games.

Also, Famitsu wasn't very kind to this game - all the evidence is leading to Namco not bringing it out over here. All the characters having their theme music is nice plus, though.

Namco's goals for this in Japan were 500,000 I believe... it's only sold roughly 87,000 in it's first week, and sales generally go down from there. Plus, from browsing through GameFAQ's, it seems there are no hidden characters or levels... in Super Robot Wars Alpha, you can gain allies depending on who you defeat them with, and other conditions... no such thing in NxC.

I think I'll import it when it gets cheap.

I imported this, I absolutely LOVE IT, it's so much fun!

The intro is freaking amazing, the gameplay is great, the turn based fights are sweet.

I made some video captures myself to show it to people (ps2 -> PC tv card -> mpg/avi), because there is not much to find on the net in english.

Check it out :

Here in all its glory, a direct high quality capture of the intro (44 meg)

Game Intro(I LOVE the song)

Ingame (5 - 11 meg each) :

Kos-Mos kicking butt.
yay for special moves, this one ROCKS
Momo beating a baddy up
Chunli kicking butt + shows some storyline, they all go WTF lol

I found out there's about 50 playable characters ingame from all the capcom and namco games with each a super special like Kos-Mos above shows. Especially funny is stuff like the guy from ghouls n ghosts.

It's both turn based and real time, interesting to have the combat like a streetfighter type and the actual strategy a typical chess rpg type.

It's quite funny sofar, I was laughing when they had ken and that other guy from streetfighter duke it out with a giant blob in a tag style match.

The storyline is a bit weird and complex, but that might just be because of my crappy japanese translating/reading skills (I hate Kanji).

It's a shame... I figured there would be hope for this game since we got Katamari Damacy... oh well. *sigh*

Hey darkje, wanna borrow my Japanese dictionary?

I'm going to get this game in like a month!! Heard it wasn't as good as Super Robot Wars but should still prove decent. Can't read anything there though except for kanji...since I'm from Taiwan.
