Name a TV show you hope gets cancelled and why.

Family Guy (again) - Please someone drive a wooden stake into its unfunny heart.
See, I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I think all the shitty shows I wished were cancelled was replaced by a good show like Family Guy.
I stand by my original statement. I weep when I think of all the good shows Fox has cancelled (Futurama, Wonderfalls, Andy Richter) and yet they bring back so-painfully-unfunny-I-want-to-gouge-out-my-own-eyes-Event-Horizon-style Family Guy.
I'm praying for the day that I see Andy Richter Controls the Universe on DVD.

And I'm a fucking atheist!

whats so special about 24 it looks like a live version of splinter cell but without the stealth and its boring to watch hell now that i said this i think i might pop in splinter cell in the box and play some good stealth action

I can't believe they cancelled Andy Richter Controls the Universe and now he's on that Quintuplets show which is absolute garbage but will probably last longer...
They need to put shows on where people get hurt and/or killed. Now that shit would be #1. Kinda like a Battle Royale meets Survivor show. Who is with me on this.
Only if you're the first contestant.

Just playing man.

I don't think it's just specific programs taht should be cancelled. I think it's specific television networks that should be cancelled. Which ones, you ask? Most of them. There's so much ridiculous, or stale, or cliche, or not-funny stuff on TV it's horrible.

Biggest offenders:
MTV
(this one is particularly offensive, it doesn't contribute anything positive to society. It's home to a variety of crap, and I belive the network itself was created by the governement as a grand conspiracy to keep the youth of america ignorant and repressed)
ABC
NBC
CBS
(those last three aren't particularly offensive, they just don't contribute anything. And they're home to many soap operas, which were all created by the government as a grand conspiracy to keep the housewives of america ignorant and repressed)
FOX
BET
(that last one is particularly offensive, and doesn't contribute anything positive. It's home to a bunch of stupid crap, the network itself was created by the government to keep the black population of the country ignorant and repressed)
others
You realize without CBS, ABC, FOX, & NBC television would basically not exist for roughly 70% of America...
Good. They'll be better off without it.

How is family guy that bad? Now the simpsons on the other hand is starting become a chore to watch now
It's a complete rip-off of the Simpsons for starters. Brian & Stewie are the only remotely funny characters. The musical numbers are excruciating, the animation is sub-par and it's just not funny (which is an unforgivable sin when it comes to comedies). I gave it a chance the first time it came on because I love animated sitcoms, but it just doesn't work for me. Hope it dies again for the last time.

Haha. Word.
I didn't think about that till you mentioned it.
Frankly, now that I think about it that makes me mad.
Andy Richter Contorls the Universe was hilarious and not contrived, cliche, bullshit. Exact opposite of Quintuplets :(
To each his or her own, I don't personally like Arrested Development, but you don't see me calling for it's cancellation.
Well I was just answering the OP's question...

At this point i'd rather take family guy humor over simpsons humor because family guy only had three seasons and was cancelled whereas simpsons has been going on to 16 seasons now and has run fresh out of ideas and thats where family guys comes back into play. At least family guy won't feel as forced as simpsons now a days
Damn, 16 seasons of simpsons. you would think they would be grown up by now, like saved by the bell the college years...
I really think they should have grown them up because there's no character development at all in that show. I think if they want to keep that show alive that's the next step to take.

Mutant X
Because this show blows.

American Idol
Because it is like the most bias show in reality history.

The Apprentice
Because the times we live in now too many people are hearing the term, "Your Fired".

Survoir (sp?)
Because how many times can you watch people be stranded on an island.

Here's my list of shows that I'm glad are over, if not cancelled:

Friends
Seinfeld
Fraiser

Need to be cancelled:

The Simpsons
King of the Hill
Family Guy
...and any other animated prime time show...just gay as hell IMO.

Also, any reality shows that are left need to go away.

I think networks need to put more thought into what's cancelled, I mean sometimes a show will have about 3 episodes which isn't even enough time to even create the first act of a story arc. Of course they need to be more creative too. To be honest, FOX may have the worst reputation of the big 4 but they are the most creative lately.

And personally I'd like to see alot of the reality shows get axed, especially the ones that are really just straight copycat reality shows.
fox likes to cancel my favorite shows, dark angel, family guy, futurama, undeclared...
I liked that shitty show Touching Evil, but now it's gone.
Dude, Touching Evil was badass.

It must have done really bad though since it didn't make it out of the first season :(

TRL, hell, every single show on MTV altogether.
Most of nickelodeon.
Every single TV "reality" show.

And others.

Why? Because most of nickelodeon sucks these days, reality shows are lame as hell, and MTV is just... MTV.

What!?!

Although I was in love with the Simpsons, I can't stand any of the new seasons. It's become too stale after all of these years. I wish they would have cancelled it sooner, just so it could be as close to perfection as a TV series could ever hope to achieve...

I would like to see all of the tv shows cancelled for alot of Anime and Video game shows

PS. I really really wish i lived in tokyo, japan my bad luck I live in buffalo,ny

ditto, although I agree with Rig about the Simpsons. I love the old seasons, but I've never watched any episode past season 8. They just seem to have lost their touch.

Oh, and shows I would like to see go, definitly viva la bam (didnt their other show get cancelled? Thank gawd!), the Ashley Simpson Show, all of MTV, all that OC crap. Looks like a Melrose Place to me. Basically all the after sunset shows that pretend to be original shows but really are soap operas in the night. Oh yeah, soap operas! OMG, now THAT'S horrible television! Tons of other stuff.

What I would keep, South Park, Spongebob Squarepants, and American Choppers. Oh, and all of National Geographic except their show where they copied Animal Planet's Most Extreme show. They did a horrible job at copying that show!

i would have to go with the majority of you on this one and call for at least a large portion of reality shows to be cancelled. i absolutly hate the shows about marraige and dating, especially when they involve whole families, i mean, you are just destroying people's lives for entertainment.

Also, i think there has to be a line drawn before they just start blending human fetuses for people to drink and mutilating loved ones on fear factor. rats people, they have already blended sewer rats for people to eat, this has got to stop, it isnt entertaining anymore, its why we get attacked by other countires. i think peopel just watch in hopes that some psycho kills doug stanhope and the producers in front of their families and then forces the family members to eat their loved one's blended remains for cash. now thats fear.
Reality TV is never going away... it will eventually die down but game shows are still on the air...
THey're really just the same thing drawn to an extreme. What is Survivor other than a really prolonged game show?
They need to put shows on where people get hurt and/or killed. Now that shit would be #1. Kinda like a Battle Royale meets Survivor show. Who is with me on this.
It's called the news. Longest running reality show in broadcast history.
this has got to stop, it isnt entertaining anymore, its why we get attacked by other countires.
Other countries are attacking us because some hoopleheads drink blended rat on national tv? Are you sure?

I thought it was because they hated our "freedom."

yeah firefly is great! but i never watched it while it was on the air, just when my friend bought the dvds and recommended it. shaq-fuing fox....
You guys miss the point...I said creative, never said anything about wise. Fox actually aired those shows and gave them a chance, whereas they would've never existed if you soley left it up to the other big 3 networks. Those shows appeal to you all because they target a younger audience, a group the big 3 didn't give a crap about then (and still don't really).

Doug Stanhope?

I think you've got your failed 'Man Show' replacements confused.

Speaking of which, the 'Man Show' should have been killed when the original hosts left. The replacements are too mean-spirited to make it work.

I really don't care what draws an audience as long as I don't have to look at it. Now that most viewers have the option for channels out the wazoo before you even get into the real premium stuff, I'd like a lot more segregation.

For instance, there is no sport on this planet that I'd ever want ed watch on TV. Far as I care ESPN can have all of it and I'll just block ESPN's channel from my EPG.

Do all the reality dreck you want, just put it all on a single channel or set of channels so I can block that and simplify the task of scanning for something to watch.

Channels with a specific genre identification should keep it pure. When I tune to the Sci-Fi Channel I want an enjoyable fiction, not some scam artist claiming to talk to the deceased relatives of drooling idiots. Or idiots lookiing for ghosts or UFOs or any of the other myriad idiocies to be found in the world. Can't there be a separate Gullibility Channel for people who like that garbage?

Wasnt there an incident on that cheaters show where the guy went and stabbed the host. Shows you what happens when you mess with people's lives. Most of those shows are staged, and its pretty much almost soft porn with shows like blind date and elimidate. Is it that much more enjoyable to watch a normal dude get dumped on by a hottie. For some more than others, that is just normal everyday life.
Saturday Night Live has been beating a dead horse for about a decade now. The last couple years have been almost as awful as Mad TV.
yeah but it will get funny again eventually... besides there's nothing else on Saturday night at 11:30 worth watching...

West Wing reruns.

The stupid crap that they put on Cartoon Network as opposed to when they used to put things like Bugs Bunny or Batman. I don't really care about the crappy Kids next door or Ed edd and eddyy.

imo Carruso is what brings the show down. And I know it was his decision to leave, but I thought Speedle's character was the best of that bunch.

American Idol
24
CSI
Reality TV shows
UPN
The O.C.
Alias
i HATE you, 24 is by far my favorit show, and CSI is interesting....however, i do agree OC needs to be cancelled, and the reality shows are getting out of hand
Have you guys ever watched the OC? Or are you grading it by what you think it is. The show is actually written pretty well and is hilarious at times. It pokes a lot of fun at the teen soap genre

I'd love to see G4techtv take a dirt nap. It's an abomination that must be put to an end for the good of our hobby.

It's especially horrific that Tech TV used to be such a good channel before G4 came along and defiled it.

While we're at it, get rid of the Spike TV VGAs, too. Since nobody seems to be able to cover anything video game related without making a mockery out of it, I'd rather not have anything at all.

Arrested Development - most overrated show of all time
Mad TV - horrible, just horrible
Most all other shows also, most shows are just plain stupid now... There hasn't been a single DECENT new show since Scrubs started.

I would really love to see all those like love reality shows go. A few i can deal with like Survivor and AMazing race but Bacholer and For love of Money ,shit like thats got to go.

Oh and what about shows you wish wouldnt have been cancelled? i mean like that only lasted a few episodes like firefly not a few seasons like Angel. Im positive theres already a thread on this but i just cant find it so, I remember really likeing that Wonderfalls last year and if i see that 13 episode boxset they released i wanna pick it up. I also liked Century City, Sifil and Oly, The New Tom Green show, and a bunch others.
