Need a good deal on a PS3

If you're a PUR member at Gamestop, you can get up to $50 off a PS3, including the 160GB model. That'll bring it down to $200.

I don't know the details, that's just the email I got.

just called gamestop and apparently i'd have to pay $15 to get on the PUR membership. There is only a $25 discount on a 160 gb ps3. If you factor in the fact that you have to pay $15, it comes out to only $10 discount in the end.

unless best buy could somehow match the discount.

I'd keep an eye on the amazon warehouse deals. I just ordered a 160gb for 175. It seems most systems arrive in basically new condition.

Good question, im not even sure. Received mine yesterday and the thing is brand new. Im really happy with the purchase.

You bought it used so I would say there wouldn't be a warranty, but I guess it really depends on how the receipt reads. It really is a deal breaker for me, personally, especially since it also would remove the free extended warranty from credit card co.

I'll just have to wait, hopefully one pops up soon. Kmart had the LBP/R&C bundle for 220 but they sold out before I could snag one.

I've been trying to get a warehouse deals one for the last 3 weeks and its impossible. Every time I see one and add it to my cart its gone

I am in similar boat as took mine to repair shop after disc reader died and was told cost roughly $170 for repairs (parts+labor).

So, I am hopeful for a $200 PS3 - New (hard drive is meaningless as I have a 500GB one from old broken one I'll use anyways).

Edit: If bundles exist I'd take that into account as added value.

Get "iffy" sense from it. Worth a shot to ask. Probably will pass and look at places fee morel comfortable with.

Iffy? IMO it might as well be thisisascam.com. Just on the surface, ridiculously low prices, absolutely no contact information, absolutely no policy guidelines, etc. It's just a bunch of too low prices and a cart to take your identity....I mean info.

Thank you for your input, I was hesitant as well.

Depending on how confident you are with repairing your own system, the lasers are usually $40-ish if you have an older model PS3. So with a little time and some patience you could replace your own lens and save $130.

Hmmm, well, okay. Where would one acquire one of these $40-ish lsers?

There are sellers on Amazon selling them(though I believe the ones they're selling are for the 60gb model).

You could also try Googling "Playstation 3 replacement laser". There are some sites out there that sell new and/or refurbished(meaning they came outta YLOD PS3's more than likely) lasers.

I'm a sad panda, after years of using my fat PS3 60g I have gotten the ylod. I've seen videos on how to repair it and will try it out but seems from the people commenting that its only a matter of time before it dies.

I'm on the lookout for a deal from bestbuy since I have credit with them. I never expected for my PS3 to have the over heating problem so I never read any of the holiday deals. Does anyone know what deals bestbuy had for new ps3s? Was it buy "x" model and get 50 gift card?

Try searching on craigslist for a deal. I just bought my 160gb slim for $160, it came with mw3 and nba jam. sold both of the games for $56 and sold my fat 60gb for $282 on ebay. So i profitted from upgrading my ps3 :)

Sweet, thanks for the info. I looked at craigslist and a guy selling one for $210 new so I went the same day and got it. I also ended up putting my bwc 60g fat ps3 together after fixing it and tests so far (on 6 hours straight) seem to show its good for however long now.

I'm not sure what I want to do now, use my old fat till it dies or use my new one. My fat will always be special since I paid $600+ for it and I don't know if I want to sell it. Anyways thanks again paying 210 was much better then paying 275 :)
