Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit - Criterion revitalizes NFS! Out now!

So far the only real takedowns I've done are on Cop cars when they're already extremely low on health (due to other racers hitting them, not me). It just sucks because they give decent bounty too.

The cars also handle a little more realistic than in Burnout games, and I preferred extremely arcade-y handling. I'm not really sure I like it this way... gotta play more though.
 
Started playing this the otherday and thought "Man, this feels a lot like Burnout..." Can you tell I hadn't been following this title very closely.
 
If I could find the damn game at a Kmart near me I could join in some games! Oh well, might have to wait for it to become dirt cheap.
 
Nice 319MB update on deck today. Includes 3 free cars. I may have to play some games tonight.

I got my platinum in this the other day, and I really have no desire to go back to it. Sure the online portion is fun, but most of the time it's too easy to win.
I really wish it was more like burnout in terms of the countless unlockables, I spent hours on that game doing certain challenges just to get a special car that wasnt even a real model. With this game I'm at 99% and couldnt give a rats ass about completing that final top speed achievement.
Still a great game, just wish it had more replay value, personally.

Just bought my son a PS3 with new NFS.
Kinda clueless to the whole system, but learning as I go.
Please tell me that there is a setting to chase my son offline?
I've read that there is not a 2 player offline mode.
If that is true then that could be the stupidest thing I've heard.
$40 bucks and I can't play the person next to me?
 
After further reading I'm pretty disgusted that I can't play my son in a chase game.
Why would they do some thing stupid like this? Make stay home so they can play their friends? Bullsh*t!

mannnnnn! I went to 6 fucking K-marts looking for this game. (you know you could have ordered it online) I got the for 16 dollars thanks to my 25 dollar coupon (which I got when I bought NBA 2k11).

The game is great, but the controls are fucking horrible. The floaty controls makes it Feel like I'm playing Grand Theft Auto IV again... ugh!
 
There's no local split screen? I've been mostly playing through career, so I haven't really checked out anything else. I'm a little disappointed that there's no split screen mode.

The autolog is genius however, I've been enjoying seeing everyone else's progress and trying to beat times.

burnout's controls were PERFECT! You could Weave in and out of traffic with ease... I think its the weightiness that's making NFS feel floaty. I find myself swerving on NFS and having problems keeping control of my car. Weather you prefer Burnout Paradise or NFS.. the two games do feel different. I prefer Burnout over NFS. I think that the devs probably made NFS different as they probably was trying not to completely make NFS exactly like Burnout Paradise (which is their gem).

Been enjoying the game, but I wish I could turn off the crash/event camera. I'm well aware that a cop is about to chase and I don't need the camera making me lose concentration every time that happens.
 
This game irritates me to no end while trying to get Gold on some events... I didn't realize I sucked this much -.-

UGH, I want my easier Burnouts back.

Couldn't agree more I hate racing games I made an exception for this one because I thought it would be like Burnout but disappontment struck when I got to the preview/Rapid Response missions:bomb:

Probably will still put in an effort to plat this but it will be a slow process like most games I get.

Has anyone played this game with a third party ps3 controller? Like that Logitech ps3 controller or shadow or rumblefish ect? Reason I'm wondering is. The only DS3 I have won't work with the game for some reason and its the only game that does it too. I was wondering if any other cheap ps3 pad worked with it.
 
ive been playing this game on and off for about a week now or so. getting gold on most but some are annoying because of those random cars. they always seem to pop up at the worst fucking times.

is the online really as dead as it seems? cuz anytime i try to find a quick match, i just sit by myself in a lobby and no one ever joins.

I just fired it up and it was full every time,but I've had that happen before.
 
Super necro time but I finally got around to playing this. I think my biggest complaint is this is hot pursuit yet hardly any of the racer challenges are that mode (so far). WTF are time trials and standard races doing in here? Keep that shit in other NFS games FFS. I mean seriously, why would I buy NFS: HOT PURSUIT just to take on normal races, head-to-head duels, and solo time trials? My last experience with this franchise was HP2 on PS2 and I sure as hell don't remember this many bullshit modes. I just remember wrecking cop cars left and right. And let me choose whatever fucking car I want!

Lol, I just love entering a race menu and being given a lineup of cars yet half the time the only one I can choose is the first one on the list. I've been able to race my RL car (370Z) once so far out of probably 20 races. Really disappointing since that was a highlight for me.

So no local co-op sucks, no replay theater is mind-boggling absent (but I can post pictures to my wall! Gay), and oncoming traffic is such BS RNG that it can literally ruin an entire race with bad timing (GFG when you're power-sliding, not a whole lot of options there). Other than that, the game is pretty damn fun. I'm really late to the party, but I'm guessing online is dead? I'd probably only play it for trophy boosting anyway; not sure if I'll try for the plat with Deus Ex coming out in a few weeks.

Online is still very active except for the Armed & Dangerous dlc modes (dead).
 
is it just me or most if not all the lambo's feel identical?
Online is still active. Hosting a game may take forever.
 
Cool, once I finish career mode I'll check out online. I wish they had a tips screen with the controls on it lol. I feel like such an idiot just discovering the handbrake last night and it makes the game 100% easier. I don't know why but I just assumed L2 was the handbrake since I was able to drift just fine using it. But that was with weightier cars and exotic cars are just drift monsters with square. Its been close to ten years since I played one of these games but I feel like it's all coming back to me now.

God I missed Hot Pursuit.
 
scored this game for $20 at TRU yesterday, def enjoying it.. great graphics and audio, fun burnout style racing. I haven't tried online yet, gonna get used to everything first.

Thanks for the help, Velo, got the plat last night. Online trophies are so annoying and I would have never guessed that's how you get that one. Really wish they'd remove stuff like that as a requirement for the plat.
