Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit - Criterion's NFS Reboot - Out Now

As much fun as this game is I do miss heavier traffic flows from Revenge. There needs to be a traffic jam or something for you to avoid besides a few cars. It makes the world feel so empty.
 
Pretty sure you can change the amount of traffic in the options somewhere. Haven't tried it myself though so don't know how much of a difference it would make.

Playing some Hot Pursuit last night, it came down to me against one cop with about 1.5 miles to go. I didn't have a ton of health left, but he never caught me. That was an adrenaline rush.
 
This stupid Autolog feature only signs to the server 1/2 the time. The first day I played for an hour before it clicked on, and let me play my new game online. This morning it was fine, but wouldnt accept my "online access" code (if you didnt buy new, you cant play online... but it says online on the back of the box - dunno how they get away with that) - once it did accept my online code it worked beautifully till now.

Now it wont connect to the autolog and now I cant even play offline mode. I swore I wasnt gonna by this game when I downloaded the demo and a week before the game came out I was locked out of the demo - so 2GB crappy 30 sec video. But I folded when it was 35.00 at amazon. Now I know why.

All the complaints are getting removed from the message boards ... I really surprised no one is talking about this. Its a brand new game!

Anyone else having this issue?
 
Mooky that sucks man. I can play offline like FurryCurry stated. I have a problem connecting to the autolog servers all the time but I believe it's the high latency with my satellite broadband.

What I don't get is why you can't take photos while in offline mode. You have to be connected to autolog to take a photo. Like come on, let me save it locally and then I'll upload it when ever I am connected with autolog. Other than that I love the connected social feature lol.
 
I've been having Autolog problems, too. It works some of the time, but it's pretty hit or miss. What's weird is that I've been playing it almost daily since about 11/20, and only started having issues about 4 days ago.

Admittedly, I don't play online, so it's not a huge issue for me, but Autolog is a big selling point of the title. A lot of the enjoyment I've gotten out of it is/was trying to beat my friend's times. Without a working Autolog, that's rendered useless.

What's weird is that there's seemingly no rhyme or reason to the hiccups... I'll play for an hour connected, then it'll suddenly disconnect. An hour later, same thing. Other days, it just won't connect no matter what, and then 15 minutes later it has no problem logging me in.

I agree wholeheartedly with the above poster... the photo thing is really annoying. It's a small thing, but that really bugged me.

Add me too. I have been playing a lot. Chasing some of my friends times. I get obsessed on one race and play it for hours. Then pop in BOPS and do a palate cleansing.

So who bought the Super Sports Pack? I grabbed it for the new events since we finished all of them in career mode.

I'm having a lot of fun with the Gumpert and trying to grab all of the achievments. The only two I can't get are the one for having 5 friends (1 short) and the one for beating a challenge time with the Veyron Super Sport since none of my friends seem to be playing far into the career :(

I've got this exact problem, to be honest I was hoping for a decent NFS game this time. For me everything after MW was a let down, so it would have been nice to see this game revive the series, but alas, we can't even play the damn thing.
 
Bah, still having problems? I haven't played for a while, but I stopped about 2-3 weeks ago because of the Autolog problem. I'm amazed it's not corrected yet.

In the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal for me, as this is a game that I'll pop in every few weeks or so, but things this important to the game shouldn't be this broken.
 
There are four exclusive cars available for download by doing the Dr Pepper/EA thing. You know get a code off a 20 oz. Two porsches, a viper and something else.

Like I said, I haven't played for a while, but I noticed that the guy posting today was still complaining about it. Perhaps I read too much into it, and I admit I have no first-hand experience.

It's an annoyance, not game-breaking. It's certainly never prevented me from playing offline, but it does take some of the fun out of it for me.

Is this what they're telling me grab your free cars because I looked but didn't see any. I'm trying not to spend too much money this month so I didn't pick up the Super Sports Pack. ;)
 
Got the game yesterday- holy crap it's good. No problems connecting to Autolog, are you guys on a crappy connection?
 
I got this game to. Did a playtest for EA so I picked up the "limited edition"
I saw that ppl are using the Dr. Pepper codes for this and getting the DLC
Im curious do you get different cars from the limited edition and the dlc? or is it the same stuff?
 
There is an update out on the Marketplace. Go to game add ons, and then search by letter. Go to NFS HP. Its called title update 1.1 or something weird like that. It gets you a few cars
 
Might be the last day for the Dr Pepper cars. There's an end date of 12/31/10 on the caps and it's mentioned on the site as well and a redeem prize date of 1/31/11. The cars are stated to be exclusive to the site and only on 360. Two porsches, a 370 z coupe and a viper.

Yeah that's what Criterion did with Burnout Paradise. Cool that they're probably supporting this game with free content again.
 
Just started playing this game a few days back - lots of fun. Please send me friend requests for autolog/online purposes. I'll try to send out a few as well. Prefer to connect with adults with jobs etc - not teenagers playing this game 24X7. :)
 
I gave Hyper cars a shot last night - whoa. Driving a Koenigsegg (first time I ever heard of them) at 240mph was pretty fun. Then I played some Performance and didn't win much :[ I packed up most of my games to move, but this one stays out since I play it almost daily.

spike strips for cops: useless

emp for runners : almost completely useless



im already sick of the online. i was in an intercepter match. i end up being the cop. and we end up racing on a highway with like 50 turnabouts and we played cat and mouse. my helicopter and my road blocks couldnt do shit, my spikes couldnt do anything, his spikes were usable (since i was chasing him). and my emps were useless because he'd just stop or uturn.

then when its my turn to be a runner, i get a track thats simplistically straight and he gets me with a couple road blocks.

i like the racing and the 4 vs 4 but 1 on 1 is truly lame. they could and should make 1 on 1 with "wrong way" enabled.


some of the records my friends have are insane times on events. one event the top number is like 1:37:00 everyone else is like 3:20:00. i only lucked out with 1:57:00 because 4 of the cars crashed in a roadblock early on.

Yeah sometimes it does boil down to luck. Due to the way physics and how the AI decides to drive times can vary drastically sometimes. Just last night I EMP a racer and he goes flying into a roadblock I set up. I then come flying in and smash him flipping the car over onto it's back, auto bust! Of course it takes some wit to realize the good combos to use like roadblocks and EMP or EMP and Helicopter Spike Strips. :bouncy:
 
Er, anyone have a problem with the autolog freezing and then when you try to load the game again it logs onto autolog but gives you a plain black screen? Because that happened to me today and now I can't play the game at all. I've cleared the cache, everything I can think of but everytime it goes to a black screen after logging onto autolog.

The helicopter races ahead of the pack and peruses the leader of the race. It will drop a spike strip and try to disable the foolish racer who drives over it.

Same here. This is my first Need for Speed and I only got it because I love the last Burnout from these guys. I am totally addicted - I'm a Level 11 racer and a Level 10 cop so I'm about 1/2 way done.

There is a definite learning curve - I thought the time trials where they penalize you were impossible in the beginning but now I'm able to control the cars better and I'm getting a feel for when you should boost and drift. I also think there's a legitimate shot at getting 1000GS out of this game which is a fun goal to strive for...
