Neo Geo Pocket- worth picking up?

bankson

CAGiversary!
The Neo Geo Pocket is pretty cheap now, I was thinking of picking one up with a few games for using at my breaks at work. Does anyone have any experience with this system that could let me know what they think of it?

Thanks.

i noticed you never referenced the color version (although that may be what you meant?) but if you are looking at a NGP, go ahead and spend the few extra bucks and get the color screen.. also pick up snk vs capcom, gal fighters, sonic, and dark arms!

I think I have asked this question about 4000 times but if someone would so kind as to help me out...How is the screen on this thing? Also some other questions...Is it hard to see? Is it like a gameboy advance or a gameboy color in terms of seeing the screen. Is the system big or small? How many games are available for this thing?

Nice link CaseyRyback. I have always wondered something though. Why are the characters in the games only 2 tones of color when the backgrounds are very vibrant?

The screen is a little bit better than the original GBA, it isnt as dark when the powers one and it's easier to get an angle that reflects light.

Size wise it's as wide and thick as an old GBA but the sides where you hold it are thicker making it a little easier to hold.

I got most of my games from eplayplay.com it was a while ago I dont know if they still have anything is stock though, most everything you;ll fins is refurbished without box or instructions but most of the games are easy enough to play without them.
I think I've spent more time with my NGPC than my GBA.
Same here. Well I'm a huge SNK fan and their neo geo pocket is sweet and I paid $100 at launch with Sonic and that sucker gets still more play time then my gba sp :D . I have three ncp so that should tell you something  .

Get Metal Slug First Mission, it's an awesome game. I also have Sonic Pocket Adventure and KOF R-2, as well. It's a very good system that was hurt by SNK shutting down a few years ago.

its worth the bargin price its at now, but its not worth the 80-100 it retailed for. it has some great games...however they dont come in the 6 packs. i got rid of 5 of tose 6 games, my current ngpc collection consists of card fighters, sonic pocket, and metal slug 1

there are maybe 5-10 more games im intrested in, so its a worthy system because the good games are freaking GOOD!
If you like games, you owe it to yourself to get the NGPC. Best $40 I ever spent to get it and 6 games.
Well, what games are good for it? No fighters please.

i didnt think the fighters on ngpc were good.

i love fighters but if much rather play KoF:neo blood than the pocket fighters.

The Metal Slug games, Sonic, Neo Turf Masters, puzzle games, and a bunch others that aren't fighting, though those are the systems strong point.

turf masters is far outclassed by final round for gba...now THATS a golf game

definetly get card fighters. no question

The first good one that comes to mind is Cardfighters, it's kinda like playing Megaman battle network without the random battles and getting lost in mazes. The two metal slug games will always be a worthy purchase, sonic, and puzzle bobble.

I've also heard the golf game is pretty cool, I have it but havent played it yet, I'm also about to start playing Faselei which is supposed to be some sort of strategy RPG, I'll let you know... Okay played a little of it, you get to a mech with a couple of weapons and you slot movment chips in to get around the map and attack or switch/reload weapons. Seems okay to mekinda like a simpler version of Front Mission.

I spent alot of time in my senior year of High School during class secretly playing that Cardfighter game. I got really addicted to it. And I was never caught, muh ha ha.

anyone have an anthracite (black) NGPC they're willing to trade for a silver one, or be able to pick one up for me if they're EB has it?
