Netflix No disc update?

Well, I can't wait until redbox gets Blu-rays in my area. I heard they're going to be a $1.50 per night for a blu-ray. I've been teetering on the fence about getting netflix streaming for my PS3, but I'm still holding out hope for red box. I know it's kind of off topic, but anyone else on the fence may want to wait too.

Also cheapest, if you do the $9.99 you can also watch some TV shows (I believe), so it's an OK deal if you watch TV. I know you don't hardly watch movies, but anyway...

Don't complain about getting extra features for free 'mkay?

I wish the PS3 could replace my DVR, now that would be awesome (I know either the UK or Japan has TV through the PS3). What would really be awesome is having my PS3 replace my U-verse STB/DVR.

I don't watch episodic tv anymore, so it would definitely not be something for me. I like shows that're one shots and nothing more anymore. As for the $9.99 thing, if it were a one time charge, I'd bite. But I even hate paying for my monthly internet fee of $20, so there's no way I'd waste more money on another service.

I have no idea but I hope soon. I mean it's not terribly inconvenient to switch out the disk but it would be nice to have a game in and still have the option of watching Netflix.
I find it funny that my panasonic bluray player cant play netflix instant watch but my two game machines can. Netflix on the wii is better for me cause i hardly play games on my wii and i play a ton of games on my ps3. My ps3 also broke shortly after i started playing netflix instant watch on it. These stupid little updates should be optional and if someone keeps posting stuff you don't wanna read then don't read there posts.
You should use the PS3 because of the HD streaming stuff. I just started watching Heroes on Netflix Instant Watch using my PS3, and I was surprised to see it in HD.

Anyways, like someone already mentioned, Microsoft has an exclusive contract for disc-less netflix streaming on game consoles until later this year, around November or so. So, until then, we'll be using the disc in the PS3.

Also, I agree with some of the OT discussion. If there's a "feature" added to a game console that I don't want, I should be able to delete it or at least hide the icon. I'm tired of seeing the Home icon every time I access the PSN store.

Re Redbox Blu-Rays -- Redbox is >90% new releases, and Netflix Instant is >90% catalog titles. That's really the difference.

I would like it to be announced at E3 but we will see. It would be nice to access Netflix instant streaming from XMB w/out disc like on the Xbox 360.:D
