We've temporarily put ST talk in the Netflix thread.
Enterprise's theme (I know, I know, it's a dead horse...) typifies, for me, so much of what was wrong with the show. It was looking to expand the ST demographic using a lot of superficial tricks, but at its heart, the writing and production really just wanted to re-heat DS9/Voyager leftovers. So it lost on both counts, it couldn't be appealing enough to the non-ST demo, and it couldn't be innovative and fresh enough for the casual-to-hardcore ST crowd.
I don't like the "re-boot" film at all, but at least it gives 100% of an effort in appealing to a broader audience. Enterprise was incredible weak sauce, it didn't know what the hell it wanted and it showed in pretty much every episode. I dislike that show so much for how lazy it was.
I especially hate Archer's dog. I think of myself as a dog person, but I want to punt that dog across the bridge of the Enterprise like so many cats. Stupid captain and his stupid dog. And water polo? Overheard in pre-production writers' room: "Hey guys, you forgot to give him a sport like Sisko, remember? FILL IN THE BLANKS ALREADY. Seriously, guys, how hard is it to make a captain? Now, where are we with the sexy vulcan?"
EDIT: Suffice it to say I will not be viewing Enterprise on Netflix. If I want Jolene Blalock's tits, I'll use GIS like every right-minded ST fan should.
