Netflix Streaming Thread 2.0

Yeah, I'd run a speedtest and see if maybe your ISP upped your internet speed.

That's really the only logical explanation for the improved streaming quality.
Cool. Will do. Check out Chaser if you haven't already. It's another good korean film that's subbed and pretty exciting.
good call on the chaser freakin movie was awesome very good thriller korea has a hell of alot of great movies and tv nowdays.

Damn it I've been trying to get people to watch the chaser for awhile. Glad someone is.

Also check out "I saw the devil" for another good korean thriller, but I think that's been mentioned.

Yeah, it looks like we are getting faster speeds on our DSL. Now up to about 2.8 Mbps or whatever the scale is. It was something like 2.2. I'm surprised that bit of difference what make such a big difference, though. Maybe what really happened is that it's being more consistent. I don't know.

One thing is for sure, Verizon is putting the hard sell on us to upgrade to FiOS. They keep sending people to our door. I'll probably jump to it at some point, but last night the bastards sent out this woman who tried to get me to sign on a dotted line in order to get info on the deal sent to me via email. WTF? Just send me the info and then let me decide if I'm going to sign on some dotted line. Bastards. Anyway, our DSL is improved and working well for us, so I'm inclined to just stick with it for now.

Has anyone ever noticed that when you are doing a search from the Netflix app on your xbox it only shows about fourth of what they have? Sometimes I just go to search and put in one letter just to see what comes up and its always only like 15 or so movies.

I am sure netflix has a couple hundred instant watch movies that start with the letter B.

I wish they would update it so I can view the entire catalog from the app itself.
Sweet! I used to watch this and was always intriqued by the weird humor. When Bobs Burgers first came out, I loved Bob's voice and then realized it was Coach McGirks from home movies. Both these shows are great.
The same guy (Jon Benjamin: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0071304/) is also in Demitri Martin's Important Things - which is also streaming on Netflix.

If you're a fan of his voice/work and haven't watched Important Things, you should give it a watch - it's an excellent sketch comedy show.

Some time ago, I switched from the Xbox version of the app to the PS3 version. I could have sworn that the Xbox one gave a full list of all matching titles.

I then shifted to the PS3 version of streaming and it did also had full lists of search results.. that is until very recently when Netflix forced me to 'upgrade' the player version (which I think is inferior to the old one in practically every way). Now, all my searches bring back at most one page of results. I'm pretty sure it's not just the Xbox, but an external device thing as my phone's netflix playback lists only 20 results also.

i have that in my list as well. id noticed a few people mentioning it in a horror or sick movie post here sounded promising.

I have a question. When I've had Netflix in the past, the streaming service offered no captions. As a significantly deaf individual, I really need captions.

This website:
http://www.phlixie.com/

Tells me of all the Netflix movies that have captions now. My question is: does the 360 support this? A friend told me the PS3 has had a lot of caption options popping up when he views, but I don't have a PS3.

Could someone tell me how the caption support is for 360 now? I was thinking of getting Netflix to geek out and watch Star Trek: The Next Generation.

http://www.phlixie.com/titles/1987/star-trek-the-next-generation-season-1

This tells me there should be captions offered for the show. Could someone confirm if this works through 360 before I agree to the service again?

According to Netflix's FAQ:

Q:
What devices can display subtitles for movies and TV shows I watch instantly?
A:

The following devices support subtitles for streaming movies and TV shows:

PC/Mac
PS3
Wii
Google TV Devices such as Logitech Revue and Sony Internet TV
Boxee Box by D-Link
iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch

If subtitles are available for a movie or TV show, you will be able to enable them on any of the above devices. Note: not all movies and TV shows have subtitles. Movies in languages other than English have English subtitles "burned in" to the content. These subtitles will appear on all devices.

I read some stories from earlier in the year that said the 360 is supposed to get the subtitles at some point, but the most concrete time frame I could find was "summer or later".

Thanks all for the information. I sure hope the 360 gets some sort of update to allow captions. I can't believe after all this time, they still don't, while they're competition is sitting pretty with full support.

I think Netflix was kind of pissed probably with the Xbox exclusivity they had to endure before they could finally release the PS3 version so that is why they added 1080p, 5.1 Sound and all the other goodies to the PS3 release and have not bothered updating the 360 version as maybe Sony setup a similar deal.

Probably has something to do with Netflix streaming Sony-owned Startz, seeing as the renegotiations are now occuring.

If that was the case I'd think it would only affect Sony/Starz movies and they could still have other stuff in 5.1 and subtitles.

My guess is it was something that needed a system update and MS wanted them to wait until the next regular dashboard/system update.

The Sony exclusivity angle someone mentioned doesn't make sense either since their are other non-sony platforms that have 5.1 and subtitles.

Yeah I have no idea. Just seems to me that Sony has a much bigger bargaining chip then Microsoft being that they own a movie studio.

for those of you who like asian films there a good movie on netflix called The Dorm. its a slow starter but once it gets past the setup its very good.

Started watching Mad Men yesterday and plowed through the first 4 or 5 episodes.

Really digging it. May have to keep streaming a while to get through it all!

My wife and I started watching it as well. We're already on season 2 and the show keeps getting better!

Ditto. Started it this week and I can't stop watching. I'm 14 episodes deep and most of that is from yesterday and today.
thanks for the heads up i added oldboy to my queue but knowing its a dub ill promptly remove it. you should check out the man from nowhere its a really good korean film they have on there and its subbed.
Just saw this and it was pretty awesome. Kinda reminded me of Leon the professional and bourne identity. They really should have translated the title more accurately as 'The Man from Nowhere' sounds weird to me. It should have been 'Mister', IMO.
The same guy (Jon Benjamin: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0071304/) is also in Demitri Martin's Important Things - which is also streaming on Netflix.

Thanks, I'll be sure to check it out. I have no cable tv service so I am desperately relying on netflix because of it's ease and availability.
I paid 15 bucks to watch 13 assassins just a few months ago on zune. Awesome movie.
Thanks for recommending, it's a great movie, definitely deserves the 4 star rating.

I started mad men, and so far I've only seen the first four episodes, but man this shit is depressing.
everyone cheating on everyone, everyone hating their lives, abusing their kids, being dicks, being rascist, being sexist
is that really what it was like back then? If so, damn.
also Glenn is a creepy mother fuckers (see what I did there?)

The last 10 times or so i watched netflix on my wii I keep saying to myself I'm feeling Wiitawrded. Usually takes about 10 minutes of messing around to get my show on the screen and by that time i am usually pretty much done with my meal. One day the wii even had everything wiped out of my que and said the shows weren't available anymore. I was watching Initial D Stage 4 part 1 and it now said it wasn't available but stage 4 part 2 was available lol. I turned on my ps3 and everything was still available and still in my que wtf. Been enjoying Initial D and Heathcliff alot but most of the movies just don't compare to the tv shows. Even the Initial D stage 3 movie was weak compared to the tv show.

I seriously dont get Mad Men. I watched the first like 10 episodes and to be honesty I couldnt tell you what the hell the show is about.

I dont dislike like....I just dont get why its suppose to be awesome, what am I suppose to be focusing on? There never feels like there is an actual point going on.

I'd say Mad Men is really just a character study and a period piece.

I'm sucked into it as I'm interested in the characters, the advertising business of that period, and just it's depiction of what society was like in the business world in that era.

And the acting and overall production values are top notch, which enhances everything IMO.

I finished the first season, and I'm hooked. I don't understand how though because I literally hate everyone on the show except maybe Harry Crane and Bertrand Cooper and I guess Don is okay
even though he is a cheating allstar
.

....SO I..... Mailed in Marvel Vs Capcom 3 instead of the dvd.....sonofabithdammitsauce.

Anyone ever send the wrong thing in and get it back? ..Yep, not holding my breath.

Yeah, I just couldn't get into Mad Men. Watched all the way up to the third episode in season 2.

I gave up on it, I was just forcing myself to watch it.

You should be fine.

Q:I accidentally returned a personal CD or DVD. How do I get it back?

A:If we can identify that a CD or DVD does not belong to us, and we recognize the customer who sent it, we will automatically return the disc.
If you return a personal DVD of a movie we carry in our own inventory, our systems unfortunately will not recognize the disc as belonging to you and we regrettably will not be able to return it.
Because I work in TV, marketing and marketing related things always interest me. The problem is this show is that it doesnt really focus on how hard it is to come up with good marketing. (at least the episodes I saw) They kinda gloss over that aspect.

Meh, after the 3rd episodes I had this feelings of, "I got it, everyone is a dick what else is here."
SVU got removed? Damn. Good thing I watched all 10 seasons to start off this year. Took about half the year and watching nothing else on streaming. I hate that they remove stuff.
ditto. glad i watched when i did. that was a lot of streaming lol.
I watched 3 episodes of Dexter today, and I'm determined to watch all of seasons 1 and 2 by midnight Wednesday. I don't sleep, and I only have roughly 18 hours to watch...

Lol, it's possible. I've done it. Great fucking show.
ditto. sort of like watching 24 episodes of 24 in one sitting. the first couple of seasons of 24 were fantastic and it really was one of the best shows on television. they ran out of steam tho.
You should be fine.

yep, they are fantastic for that sort of thing. i did that for my disc of kotor maybe 5 years agoand i was like 'wtf' and got it back. i was like 'wow'

I wasn't sure I'd like Mad Men. I actually have the first 3 seasons on Blu-ray, but wasn't sure if I wanted to open them. It took almost the entire first season before I started getting really into it. Glad I didn't give up. Really good drama. Not sure why some people are saying SVU has been taken off streaming. I still see it available, first 12 seasons at least.
Mad Men is addictive. There's just something about it, you decide to watch one episode, and three hours later you are still watching it.
Haha yep
Original audio or English dub? The english dub is terrible.
