Has anyone noticed if they have been pulling the GBA games off the shelf to, i just assume they would but many don't seem to care about GBA so i was a little unsure.

That's how it was at last year's sale at my CC. Though I believe that many CC's weren't as prepared for the early start on the sale as mine was.
 
First off, I must say that the list of games is pretty weak at $10 a piece (heck, it's even kind of weak at $5 a piece), with only a few great titles that everyone seems to want, however...pricing the games at $10 is a BRILLIANT move by CC. They saw the buzz generated by the clearance last year, and how quickly the games sold at $5 a pop. It just makes sense to sell them at $10 each this year. I'm willing to bet that what doesn't sell at $10 will be lowered to $5 in a month or two. I kind of wish they did that last year as there were a lot of titles I was willing to pay $10 - $20 for that sold out right away because they were so cheap and sought after.

By the way, the CC I just went to had pulled all the games already with the exception of a few GBA titles.
 
I can't believe that people are getting so worked up over this sale...there are maybe 5-10 decent games on that whole list that are a good deal at $10, this sale absolutely PALES in comparison to last summer's when there was soooooo many great games for $5.

I picked up POP2 for Xbox today and will get a price correction to $10 on the 3rd. Other than that, there are only maybe 1-2 more titles I care about.

I just got back from 2 CC's and I found a few games I wanted. They had the exact game-list (but much longer) and where in the process of pulling the games. I was lucky to get some before they where pulled.

I also discovered the none of the CC's my area had Nano Breaker except one location.

Which item is the King of Fighters Col. Edition? is it the 2000/2001 edition or the 2002/2003... if no one knows I'll just head over there on the 3rd to pick up these bad boys... some stuff looks bleh while others look pretty good.
 
Gungrave OD could easily be found for $15 everywhere after and including release. I bought it $15 new. From that standpoint, I don't see why everyones getting worked up on it being $10...

Today I went and purchased Prince of Persia: WW, Ridge Racer DS and Chronicles of Riddick for my bro who for some odd reason unbeknownst to me is infatuated with those terrible movies.

If he likes the terrible movies, and dislikes this great game it will cause me to be really frustrated!!!

Circuit City lists the Col. Edition as 29.99, but with the 2002 / 2003 picture. I've never seen 02 / 03 at CC before, and the MSRP is 39.99 on it besides the point.

KoF: Maximum Impact came in a collector's edition type box, and I've seen a ton of copies at CC for 29.99. My money is going on this one, since it's gotten price slashed and clearenced at other stores before (such as Kmart).

thanks! yeah, it makes sense for it to be the Max Impact version since that is sometimes refered to as a collectors edition. not bad of a deal thoguh, even though I own Max Impact already.
 
circuit city at sahare/decatur in 702 pulled games off shelves, very noticable too, also pulled games that are on sale for one system and not another, so all platforms, asked employee is they had POP and he said no someone already asked for it 2day, but then he was too lazy to check so probably was lying, so guess i'll have to go back on the 3rd, hope no hoarders get to em 1st, i remember last CC sale some dude filled up an entire basket grabbing multiples of everything, luckily he was turned down cuz his list was incorrect
 
The shelves were barren at the CC I went to a little while ago. I was going to play dumb and comment on the lack of games on the shelves but no employees asked if I needed help (the one time I actually wanted them to initiate a conversation).
 
I just went over to pick up Conker- had to ask 3 guys to finally get the plush and I found the shelves were severely lacking in games. I'm hoping they just pulled a bunch until next week but at last years sale they had 3 aisles of games and now they have 1. I'm not expecting much.

Also - if any of you guys can get a hold of riddick - it's a game i've been meaning to get for a while. Neither of the CC's near me (10 minute and 45 minute) had it.

No - but to avoid hoarders - you can purchase it now and price match it when the sale begins (they give you the difference and ten percent apparently).

I know a friend who works there so I think I'll ask him to hold on to the games I want.
 
I hit 2 CC's in Jacksonville (Southside & Regency). The Southside location was either completely cleaned out or had pulled all the clearance games. The Regency location however still a nice selection. I picked up Baten Kaitos (last one) and Project Snowblind for Xbox (2nd to last copy). I figured if I didn't get them now, there's no way they'd be there for me on the 3rd, so I'll be going back to PM after the 3rd. Thanks to the OP.

Worst case scenario is they don't follow their own corporate policy and go against it in which case you have a case to complain.

Again - if this happens - you can at least get a refund.

Most likely - you will be able to either get the game for at least 9.99 without the +10% return.

Spidey 2, Breakdown, and The Suffering for Xbox will be mine for sure.

Same with Baten Kaitos.

It's a shame it isn't $5, because I'd be more inclined to pick up a couple others if it was.

I have slight interest in other titles, but those are the main ones I'll be hunting down before spending money on others. About the KOF Collectors Edition, can a CC employee comfirm its KOF:MI on sale? The UPC listed is for the KOF:MI CE, but on the website it shows the older game. I'm pretty sure it won't matter and that it'll be KOF:MI, but I'd just like to be sure.

Why don't they limit it to one each? When other stores have big sales, they'll note 1 per purchase, etc. It would seem to be the smartest way to discourage hoarding, people buying them to resell.

I don't know. It is always on a per store basis. Some managers will say "Only 3 per customer" ... or "One of each, no duplicates" etc... so I'll be asking my manager how we're going to handle it.

Cause hoarders make us look bad. People seeing the ad going "Oh wow, $9.99! Awesome, let me go get my kids some games" Then they show up at 11 am and all the games are gone.... "What? The store has been open one hour!"

Man, I leave this thread for a few hours and it's already grown from 13 to 19 pages.

Anyway, I'm majorly worried that the pricematch won't work now, and yet I *KNOW* that if I don't go buy the two games I want soon, they'll be gone. And I seriously don't want to fight off other potential buyers clawing through a bin full of unorganized games on Sunday morning before church. Worst case scenario is that I'd lose $60 bucks, which honestly I can't afford at the moment.

Had to go to CC for a DVD for brother in law's birthday, mozied over to the game section. Asked the employee stationed there about the sale and his answer was "yeah we pulled the game but we've been told to put them out for sale at the beginning of the 4th holiday weekend, so they'll probably be back out wednesday or thursday evening".

This was at the CC at Arundel Mills Mall in Columbia...

Haha, whatever the managers tell me is what I'll do. But I hope there is a limit because I hate eBay hoarders. Just buying games to resell them when there are true gamers out that want to play the games!

I wish it was a $4.99 sale though, haha. :) I saw the memo and was like "Could it be?".... sadly, no. $9.99 .... not bad though for Ridge Racer DS :) The only game I want.

All games are being brought out on July 3rd before the opening of the store. The sale is going to be advertised in the July 3rd and 10th ads. The sale ends on July 31st.

Wait - Maximum impact is the collectors edition!? There were like ten at the CC near me ahh.

Also - I can get ridge racer, gta, rumble, pop, and maybe baten for you if your CC is out.

I had to dig a round a bit for them and they were all last copies at this CC... sadly I could not find Ridge Racer DS and POP2... I just hope they PM these games to $9.99.

...assuming that works. It appears some CC stores have an issue with doing the PM. And wouldn't you mean they'll take them back next week, since the sale doesn't start until next Sunday? Not trying to be a jerk or anything...just merely pointing that out. :)

Well what's the YMMV percentage. I know a lot of deals at gamestop (say the penny guides) have a 20% chance of working in my area.

Toys r Us = stacking coupons = 40%

What is the chance of this PM working. It seems reasonable anyway.

Well... it depends on alot of factors.

1) The most obvious one is the cashier working the customer service desk. They may be completely clueless to video games, and may just go ahead and do the price adjustment (given that it's only 1 or 2 games you bought).

2) The employee might be knowledgable about games, might know about the sale, and get a manager's approval. The manager could be real cool and let it slide.

3) If the manager says something like "company policy says we can't price adjut to clearance blah blah" just ask him calmly if you can simply return the item then, and re-buy it. Most returned, sealed things go straight into the go-back bin, so you're actually saving an employee some work. It may actually be company policy they can't price adjust to clearance, but they should be able to re-sell it to get around it.

Those are the three situations I can think of... I'd say you have a greater than 50% chance for it to go smoothly. Now, if you're doing this with say, 4-8 games, then you're going to cause suspicion and it could go any number of ways.

Well, seeing as my CC didn't even have the games pulled today, I'd say there's a decent chance of it working, at least at this location. The employees seem pretty lax and didn't try to BS me when I found PoP:SoT for $1.99. There really is no definite answer, however. It's gonna be YMMV for everyone, so your best bet is just to conduct yourself in a calm manner and don't be a dick about it when you go for the pricematch.

The supervisor told the CSR to tell me to bring the games back on 7/3 to get the $9.99 price. I did not even tell him of my intentions but hey, if they encourage it, then might as well take advantage of it.
