New copies of Disgaea, Zelda: Collection, Nocturne

just posted this up, since I've read elsewhere that people are having a hard ass time looking for these. I think thats to steep for Zelda, since Nintendo were giving them away when you bought the sytem or subscribed to NP.

Yeah what the hell. Retail price: NOT FOR RESALE. I bet they're gonna say that none of them are reprints again too...

How many different user names does Gamequestdirect have on here to peddle their games?

How did they get sealed zelda collector's editions? Would nintendo really reprint a game that was supposed to be part of a promotion in the first place?
Is Nocturne a good game, or is it just rare?
I hear its a pretty good JRPG I would assume you'd have to be into Atlus RPGs for you to really like it. but I've heard nothing but good things about it.
Is Nocturne a good game, or is it just rare?
Haven't played it myself, but I've heard nothing but good things except that it's fairly difficult.

I actually got my copy of Cubivore off gamequestdirect from ebay over a year ago, they must've bought up Atlus' entire stock or something

i will never buy a thing off them again. i got a game with a broken case and was told i would be refunded 5 bucks then they turned around and Never gave me a penny.. I would tell everyone to stay the hell away from this company

I won't be buying anything from GQD any more after Resident Evil and Persona 2/Rhapsody incidents, and I don't recommend that anyone else do so either.

I'll bet my left foot that these show up somewhere else soon after.

I feel the same way. I didn't purchase Rhapsody or Persona 2 from them, but I thought they were being pretty shady about not telling us it was a reprint and that whole lie about it being found somewhere. I think that their (pretty high) retail price thing for comparison is based on the price they sell it for in THEIR retail store, not others. For example, Fry's still has plenty copies near me for $49.99.

I ordered my Persona 2 and Rhapsody from them. I am very happy. I don't know what incidents you talk about. It seems most (except Slidecage) were very pleased.

I was pleased up to the time where they go (we give you a 5 buck refund for that broken case) then when it came time to get the refund they refused to do it.... other then that i was happy but once a company lies to me I will never do business with them again.

hopefully i will get to play Rhapsody sometime before 2006 but i need to beat Makai kingdom and another rpg before i can even open it

Oops, dug up the old post discussing these deals on GQD. I was wrong, they didn't claim to have found the boxes somewhere, another poster did. But some posters also said they called GQD and GQD told them it WASN'T a reprint. *shrug* not a big deal to me b/c I bought the game (from GS) to play, not to collect, but I don't know why they would lie.

I'm just not happy that they lied about the reprint for both of these games. As the site might suggest I am a cheap-ass gamer, and saving $40 on these two games makes a big difference for a college kid.

I just wanted to play them, but now I'm not sure if I want to open them and just sell them off on eBay, then get some new copies from my Gamestop's used game bin.

Yes I'm pleased to get these games but I still feel ripped off.

Thanks for the info, but I'm holding off on this. I want Disgaea, but I'm hoping for a reprint. I also saw one in a local EB used for $50 and passed.

My local fry's had a bunch of copies of resident evil 2 and 3 for gamecube, I thought the game was rare so I was a bit suprised to see so many.

I was uber-happy with my GQD transaction. Anyone who doesn't have Disgaea is missing out on the best strat/RPG ever in my opinion. Cubivore is weird as sin and was a graphical port of the Japanese N64 version, but they only made 2,500 of them.

If the seal thing bothers you, relax. Some new releases -- like my Makai Kingdom -- don't have that seal anymore, and are still new, factory sealed games.

I wonder if the free shipping for CAGs is still in effect. I got a buddy who's been looking for Disgaea.

Don't be fooled, it's just a mediocre RPG that had a really limited release, thus bumping up it's popularity.

Ah, I see. Then I'll most likely just rent it. Thanks for the info.

That's odd, my friend and I both heard of Nocturne and he got it around release. We both really enjoyed it and I recently acquired it in a trade to finally play.

Nocturne isnt really for everyone. Some might like Persona 2 or DDS instead of Nocturne's complicate gameplay.

As for GQD's deal with Persona 2 and Rhapsody, also check out the gamestop topic in which people got opened new copies at used price.

I'm really curious how they got a hold of so many Zelda Collector's Editions, as they were promos. Only 13 in stock at time of this post, btw.

they have had the zeldas for awhile, no one worry, there is no reprint of them, but generally the price is no better than ebay (at least for right now), which is why they havent sold out

It's certainly not going to appeal to everyone, and has certainly gotten a bit of a bump because it's hard to find, but I'd hardly call it mediocre. Now Shining Tears, that's crap.

I'm not part of GQD, the day when I got my copy of Rhapsody one of the guys mentioned me that they are trying to work out something with Konami to reprint Suikoden2. If that makes you happy.

i've bought from gamequest before, if its advertised as new it probably will be and have the seal to boot, least thats what i got last time i bought from them.

shipping's a bit pricey though.

good luck in getting suikoden 2 reprinted. if that ever happens ebay would implode

Free shipping?

I'm probably the only person who thinks this game is bland and in no way worth the $50 for a new copy - but I am a small minority. If you like Pokemon but felt it could use that adult push and a weird storyline, well, sign yourself up. ^_~ But be prepared to "raise" demons for hours and hours and hours.

i would recommend noturne for anyone looking for a mature rpg, w/ an overall darker tone. bought mine at the tru b2g1f back whenever...

anyone that lives in so cal can check gamequest b&m for stuff, there is one located in montebello that had a brand new persona 2 w/ seal for $44.95. so check b&m if there are any by you...

Personally I liked monster raising a lot more in Nocturne than in Pokemon, which I could never even get interested in enough to play past the 4th hour or so.

Nocturne is definitely an acquired taste. Once the story gets going, it gets a lot better. but that's about 30 hours into the game, if you don't spend too much time levelling/recruiting.

For nocturne:

82/100 on metacritic with a User rating of 9.3/10. 83% on gamerankings.

I have it on the shelf from before the reprint, but I haven't played it yet.

Now, for a mediocre game that is only popular because it's rare, I recommend checking out the Rhapsody reviews.

I do believe that someone called Atlus (multiple times) and even Atlus denied the reprint. So, I guess you should be upset with Atlus then too.

Being upset with both companies seems pretty narrow sighted. Atlus did not have to do any reprints at all. I think the MSRP of these games back in the day was $50, so they basically turned back the clock and let us lazy who never purchased them the first time get another chance.

I am in College too. I bought these two games too. I opened them and already played through most of Rhapsody. I'm never going to sell them, so the value does not matter to me. I bought them to play, not profit. Besides with the rediculous ebay (and amazon if you use that) fees, it's hardly worth selling unless you don't care about profit and just want to get rid of it.

Also, $50 is standard pricing for games right now. Previous generations it was more. And rumor has it next generation will once again raise the prices higher then the current generation.

From reading this forum, my impression is that if games are cheaper people spend more money, not less. They don't care about quality. If the game is mediocre, but fairly priced they buy it. I really can't believe some of the crap people on here buy (even it's cheap - 5 $10 games is still $50 no matter what way you look at it and I would rather have 1 great game then 5 mediocre games).

Not to self promote too much, we recently got our hands on some. GTA SA as well, price is high at $59.99. For those who want to get the original banned edition.

Heehee, I agree. That's one of the games you always hear the hype about, but I just can't work up interest in it. The storyline doesn't sound fulfilling, and while pretty happy colors are great, the screenshots appear to have "annoyingly cutesy" potential. No one's ever actually tried to sell me on its gameplay value, but if I'm spending $50, it better be FUN not just rare.
Is Nocturne a good game, or is it just rare?
I had it and got rid of it, I thought it was boring, I just could not get into it...

I wouldn't call Rhapsody mediocre. It's actually a fun little game. Not particularly deep, difficult, or long, but a fun game to play through. It's very cute.

Is there any proof that Rhapsody or Persona 2 were reprints and not just some kind of warehouse find? I am hard pressed to believe these would be reprinted. Especially knowing Sony and it's anal retentive policies. The discs are made at plants operated by Sony.

ROAR I BOUGHT RHAPSODY AND PERSONA TO PLAY BUT IF I'D KNOWN THEY WERE REPRINTED I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT THEM FOR fuckING RETAIL PRICE.

Why is that so hard to understand? There is no need to thank Atlus for reprinting old PS1 and PS2 games and selling them for rediculous prices. GQD can suck the cock of Atlus and get every reprint they ever release in the future but I'm still never buying from them again.
