Most of you know the deal...This week (6/20-6/26) it's for GTA: Vice City on the PS2.

For the uninformed, go to your local Target and see if they have GTA: Vice City for the PS2 in stock. If it's out of stock, ask an employee for a raincheck and he/she will hand you one for 48% off any item in the same product category, that being games. GTA: VC is regularly $30, it's on sale this week for $15.88, hence the 48% off.

As always, this deal is YMMV due to some Targets changing their raincheck policy from the Madden fiasco. Also some Target stores will only let you use the rainchecks on a $30 dollar game as opposed to a game that's more or less than $30 or you may only be able to use the raincheck on the same system the raichecked game was for.

Last but not least, DON'T ABUSE THIS DEAL, you'll only ruin it for the rest of the communtiy if you go out and get 20 rainchecks and then your store decides change it's policy. It's happened before, so just keep your raincheck hunting to a minimum.

Confirmed Game 48%*:
GTA: Vice City

*Raincheck may only work on $30 games.
There might be some luck this Sunday when the new ad sales start. Vice City is $15.88. Isnt it normally 29.99? 50% off.
You're probably right, so long as Target doens't put a temporary price cut on the game...So we should be able to get 49% off Rainchecks next week. Only problem is, some stores will only allow you to substitute it for another $30 game, but hey, half off is half off.

It's crazy but only one game was sold out at my Target and it wasn't one that was 44% off. I did pick up GTA DP but there are still two more left.

If I got a raincheck for manhunts today and manhunts are back in stock tomorrow, could I still subtitute for another game or I must get manhunts?

you can still sub on another title. just take your title up to the front, not in electronics. I just say that because someone in electronics might be like 'oh its in stock you can now get it'.

Damn you can't use rain check on PSI Ops. I thought I could get it for about 20 dollars with the rain check and 10 dollars off coupon.

Receive a free CD featuring explosive music from alt-metal band Cold when you buy the new action/adventure Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy for PS2 or XBX at Target. CD packaged with game. No rain checks. Hurry in; quantity is limited.

Okay, I went up and got three Manhunt rainchecks today. The only thing I ended up getting, though, was Half Life for PC for $9.99 with the 45% off. Not too bad.

Yeah, I tried the Manhunt raincheck for a Gamecube and they told my sorry ass no.
Grand Theft Auto Double Pack is only $27!!! I'm so there! I never heard they had it on sale. ... I have been waiting for a deal on this FOREVER!
if you have a fye near you, you can get the gta double pack for $20 after rebate :D

Ummmm..."No Rainchecks" means that you can't get a raincheck for Psi-ops.

Unless you already tried to use the 45% off raicheck today at Target, then I stand corrected...I'm confused...I just want to make sure you get to take advantage of this deal.

Thanks maybe you're right. They said hurry in. I thought they don't give out rain check on none on sale items.
Do you think there's anyway they'd let me sub the Manhunt raincheck for say a Gamecube?

I looked over the raincheck and it said for only "like items like tv for tv" but I was hoping that they'd lemme do this. What do you guys think my chances are?
Check out the 69.99 gamecube thread ( http://cheapassgamer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19150) if you're looking for a cheap cube, I went with my friend the other day and he managed to pull it off without too much trouble.

Wow thanks for this deal. I went to Target today and saw that Manhunt was sold out so I got a raincheck (that clearly says you get the same percentage off any other game priced 49.99) and bought James Bond Everything or Nothing for 27.88 !!!! I really should get one more coupon tomorrow.

Ugamer do you know if the raincheck can be used to purchase any game even if the game it's for is in stock? thanks again btw.

I now love Target.
I got a raincheck for Manhunt and then used it.
I got PSI-OPS for 7.88 plus tax!!
I used the raincheck (27.88 ) + the $10 coupon (now 17.88 ) + a $10 gift card from a previous special offer, I count that since I din't pay for the gift card = 7.88 !!!!

Target is GREAT

If the game in question is in stock, YMMV on whether they'll let you use the raincheck or not. Seeing as Targets have different policies on this, your best bet is to use the raincheck and check-out at the front of your store, not the electronics dept.

If you can....most Targets only let you pay for games in the electronics department. Also, even if they allowed you to pay up front, the chances of a cashier knowing what to do with the raincheck without having to call for help are very slim. Then you may get a snooty supervisor that claims that raincheck for the Xbox game is only good on Xbox games (it's not, it's on any console game) only.

The cashier at my Target said that very thing to me, and I politely asked him to verify it with a manager and within a few minutes, he told me he was wrong, and I was right. Well in so many words, at least :p
Can you get 2 rainchecks? say I wanted to "buy 2 games that are sold out"

Can I do that?
Probably. I never tried it. If you can't, then leave, and come back later. Then ask someone else :D

Yeah, you can get two rain checks. When they ring it up, they will ask you how many you want. Just tell them however many you'll want. But you'll only get one actual piece of paper, but it does say two rainchecks on it. So far, I've gotten four Manhunt rain checks.

I got two rainchecks today and got Front Mission 4 and Ninja Gaiden. The guy there then gave me another raincheck before I left. He said he didn't care and the raincheck cleary states a substitute as an option. I plan on getting Splinter Cell:pT tomorrow with it. I wouldn't push it since they may see that and get crappy about the policy. I will back off for a while now.

Yeah, I had a Target employee let me get two rainchecks...I got Everything or Nothing and kept my rain check for GTA DP on XBOX. Gotta love the rainchecks, I guess its always good to go on the last day of the sale...
Can someone get me a raincheck tonight? My targets are all instock :whistle2:(
Just get the serial number off of the UPC in the case, then take it up front and ask for a rain check. I just did it even though the game was in stock and got Onimusha 3 for $28.

I too would be very interested in hearing everyone's experience with this. I got one for XBOX GTA:DP last night. However, there's really nothing I want until NCAA 2005 comes out in July. I want to save it until then but am not sure what will happen if GTA is in-stock when NCAA comes out.

Would it make sense to use it on some other $49.99 game, keep it sealed, and then try to do an exchange for NCAA in July or would Target frown upon that as well?

My guess is that you could only get the money you paid.

I might use a Manhunt raincheck to pick up Driver 3 this week . . .

I don't suggest you use it now on another game and then return it. What I do suggest is when NCAA 2005 comes out, just get the game and go right up to one of the cashiers at the front of the store, don't go to the electronics dept. Just tell the cashier the game is sold out and hope you don't get an asshole who will send someone to check.

GTA double pack was 39.99 or 49.99? I thought I saw it at 39.99. You only get like 31 percent off and I don't know if you can use it on a 49.99 game. I am not sure thought.

Thanks for the advice. I think the problem might be that the cashiers in the electronics department have to get the games from behind the glass and will probably expect me to pay for it in the electronics section.
So is Vice City (PS2) the one to use this week for rainchecks?
We'll see, someone has to confirm it though...Whoever does confirm it should start a new thread...

Question about raincheck. Ok if I get a raincheck for a game that is 39.99 and on sale for 27.89(31% off). Could I buy a game that is 49.99 and get 31% percent off with the raincheck or do I have buy the game at 39.99.

It's all highly situational depending on the clerk you get. Most of the time, they'll just ring it up with a percentage off, but other times they may insist that you purchase a game with the same original price point.
I saw Vice City yesterday priced at 29.99 so it should be 44%
My Target had it priced at $15.88, but it also had about 10 copies on the shelf. I don't know if they'll sell out quickly enough to get my raincheck, though.

I picked up Chronicles of Riddick today with a Manhunt rain check.

System automatically dropped it down to $27.88.

The game is $39.88 this week so I thought the 45% off might bring it down to under $23 . . . I didn't push it with the clerk (I don't want to be an ass**** on top of being cheap).

Funny the reciept shows "XBOX SFT . . . 27.88 (with a down arrow) the line below says "Regular Price $39.88"

The $27.88 price is consistent with the raincheck policy of discount from a "regular" price . . . I just had hopes of saving the extra $5

Anybody else pick up Riddick?
Yesterday, I got a Vice City raincheck for 48% off. My Target only carries the DP and not VC seperately.
Thanks for the confirmation, I got mine today...The first post is now updated for you folks who need more info on how to use this deal.

My target had some "Instant Substitution" signs. They were out of stock for GTA:VC but had an instnat substitute of Tiger Woods 2004 PS2 for $27.88. I also saw one for one of the GBA titles (Finding Nemo??) last week. I didn't ask for a rain check (I already had one for another game) but wonder if many stores have started doing this in lieu of giving out the "universal" rain checks.

So I could get a rain check and take it back in three weeks and get NCAA 2005 for 48% off? I'm new to these things.
