just a heads up for you guys. if you buy 3 games at toys r us that are worth 35 in store credit at gamerush, you get 35 per game plus 5 per game so you get 120 in credit buy only cost you 100 out of pocket. easy way to make 20 bucks

Hey i was told today by the guy who works at gamerush that every deal which they have you may only do it twice in 60 days. For example once you have gotten 5 dollars extra on 3 games twice, you cant do it any more. Any one else hear of this?
That guy is full of shit.
Completely. But even if that was true, it would still be per location.
I ran into that problem today. The $5 bonus per game didn't show up. I did the deal twice last week. :D $5 ebgames and circuitcity shovelware.

Not to bash you but isnt it a little foolish to invest $100 only to make $20 CREDIT at a store notoriously known for higher prices? I mean, cool if it works for ya but Im wondering if is as brilliant a plan as you see it as.

Especially when sales tax comes into the equation...you'll be paying around 107, 108 for those three TRU games, so you're only racking up $12 credit really.
Well if you're planning on getting Steel Battalion every penny counts.
I guess, I still see it as a waste of time. We havent even figured in such things as gas, his time, etc.

Anybody notice any Metroid Prime 2 "bonus shirt free with preorder" banners in the store? One store that I didn't reserve the game at has it, but the one I reserved it at (Town East), doesn't have the banner, and I preordered that about 2 months ago.

Do you think I'll be able to get this free shirt? Sure I won't wear it, and it probably won't fit, but, I'd like a free shirt, no reason not to want it.

Yes, that is very true, but I'd rather have 100 dollars than 120 dollars in Blockbuster/Gamerush credit.

Probably... promos like that are usually chain-wide and not just at specfic locations. I'd guess the other store just hasn't recieved or hung it's signage.

I was looking at the managers promotion booklet for october and november when she decided to tell me she couldn't give me madden 2005 as a best of 2004 offer after she said it counted and after I traded in my games...
There is nothing spectacular coming up for the rest of the year. All I saw is what we already know. as far as New york is concerned, thats the trade 3 deal and the trade 2 best of 2004 deal. Which is so weak. There are no good games on that 2004 list! If you get lucky some young girl at the counter will give you anything which she did for me the first day but the manager double checked the second. these guys are getting smarter everyday. Soon they will realize that they can't include old sports games in these deals and most of you guys will move on to the next exploit deal. The same way you ruined the eb on-line trade in deals. Now...
I ain't mad at cha, but slow down a little bit. I am hoping they can at least do this twice a year in the future instead of realizing they took a total loss these last 2 quarters!

do you guys think gamerush will have extra copies of gta:sa to buy without preorder? I mean if they wanna make money, it would be smart to get some extras.

If you really must know, PM him or take it to another thread. That was the whole point of JSweeney's plea.
Yes, it was a good idea to stop the bickering, which was my original point way back, but everyone wanted a last opinion. JSWEENEY who seemed to have the most opinions of all has now asked us all to stay on topic.

Lets see if this is the last word on the subject!!

On a different topic.. Have any of you had the situation occur when BB has no copies of a preorder you ordered?

And what did you do about it, I used the $20 off coupon on my preorder.

They have no ability to order additional stock, and I was told "MAYBE" a copy will come in in the next 10 days.

Actually they pay you tax for the games. But it isn't worth the trouble or money.

How can that happen? They put your pre-order in the computer they should ship a game to the store? Sounds like they are going to owe you $20 in store credit to me.

Actually, BB did NOT pay me tax for my most recent trade-in on Sunday....I don't believe they did at least. Maybe they updated it...who knows. This was on Sunday

All I care about is if they have my Halo2 preorder on 11/09.

Same shit happened to me. I guess they dont understand the term "preorder" THey had the game i preordered for rent but not for sale. Wtf

I got ghost recon 2 and need for speed underground 2 preordered. I wonder if they will h ave the same problem.

You're not making any "bucks". You're getting an extra $20 in BB credit. Definately not worth $20 with their prices.

Well 39.99$ I hope as I paid for the game in full. But I just don't want to have to deal with this sh!t, I have 19 preorders (yes 19), and this is going to be a real pain in the ass. It's not like I can take the money and buy the game from another store, although I do see a GameBoy DS in my future.

So on the lines of building BB credit, you can buy dvd's from target for 5.50 and trade them in for 8, about 25% profit after taxes. I wish they sold PC games at BB, I'm stuck with buying a game using my extensive credit and trading it in to GameStop or EB, depending upon who has the best deal. I cant complain though I got Call of Duty and Warhammer last week for a total out of pocket of about 10$ each. I have also stopped buying DVD's, and now I wait for the used DVD's to cycle into the buy 2 for 20$ bins.

Well for preorders what I was told by more then 1 GR employee was that they get their rental shipments and sales shipments not in the same package, meaning say they order Halo 2 for sale and for rental, the rentals come in first. To me it seems kinda stupid, and its happened 2 out of 3 times they told me yes the rentals are in but sales for that same title are not, only once have they called to tell me my preorder was in, other 2 I had to wait at least a week.

THUG 2 - 35+5
Tiger Woods 2005 - 35+5
X Men Legends - 35+5
Burnout 3 - 35+5
SW Battlefront - 35+5
20 DVDs - 160

No xbox holiday bundles in stock at my GR. Planning on buying 2 for family and friends.

If you cancel a preordered game for any reason they will credit you the full MSRP of the game...even if you paid only $30 during some deal. That was my experience.

I think it depends on how you paid, if there were trade ins involved or store credit, they will likely give you store credit. Same thing happeend to me, I have like 18 pre-orders as well and they didn't get otogi 2 or neo contra...well they did get contra but some fucking asshat sold it, even though I called everyday last week to see if they had it....I think this will be the downfall to gamerush unless they pick up a clue from gamestop/ebgames and actually hold the game you pre-order....I mean once these insane deals stop who will shop at gamerush if they can't competantly hold pre-orders and you have to deal with the standard blockbuster employee who wouldn't know halo from mario...

which 2 games is GR not getting that you preordered?

I preordered Nocturne and have yet to receive it. They keep telling me to check back later, but the problem is that TRU is offering it this week in their buy 2 get one free sale. I want to pick that bitch up before it becomes rare and hard to find.

When you preorder a game at Gamecrazy can you get a refund of your money before the game comes out? Because I'd really like to preorder Halo 2 from Gamerush and not Gamecrazy.

Otogi 2, NEo Contra

They ended up crediting my account for the 2 that I got. Luckily it was the games manager, who seems to be one of the only guys that knows whats going on there..

For the person who asked, my account was credited. I actually cancelled the regular Halo 2 which I had gotten for 29.99 w/ trades, got $50 back and preordered the Halo 2 CE again for 29.99 w/ 2 trades. This particular store in staten island is usually pretty cool if you get a game trader. He said so many people complained and pointed out that the deal never said games over $50 were excluded from the 29.99 tradein deal...so he manually knocked it down to 29.99 for the CE.

lucky my coupon said 20 off games like 49.99+ or something

yea gamerush is not that good unless you have those coupons. I found some in my magazine so I have 2 left :)

I have 300 in credit or something and just bought thug 2 and I will trade it in next week for 35+5

Ok guys don't bash me too hard for this....
I just traded in a bunch of stuff to my local BlockBuster (non-GameRush) and received about $259.00 in credit in the form of a Gift Card. I was wondering if anyone knew if GameRush stores sold consoles ... specifically if they sell Gamecube's or are taking pre-orders for the new DS. I only have regular BlockBuster's near me and wanted to know before heading out across town to head into GameRush. Thanks everyone.

I love this store. Last time I went I found a Legend of Zelda OOT/Master Quest disc which I had been trying to find for cheap for what seemed like forever, and The Chronicles of Riddick all for $32 bucks after tax. You ask how, well when the cashier rung up the LEgend of Zelda disk, it came up as 16.50 and Riddick was $22 so with the store's BOGO 50% off deal it came up to that amount. The Legend of Zelda game I think is actaully supposed to cost 29.99 but when she rung it up, it came at the price of a Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker and Riddick too was supposed to be $35 but came out to be $22.

Thanks everyone. Maybe I can at least pick up a GC with all the credit floating around. Still have another 20 dvd's to turn in. Trying to clear out some space for the new stuff coming out. Way too many old bargin bin titles laying around.

I dunno if they're taking preorders on the DS but I did get the latest GamePro mag today and it had a GameRush ad with the DS advertised for $149 and it says they'll have it on Nov. 2nd, I think, can't really remember...

If there are loopholes in the trading system then I believe it's Blockbuster's responsiblility to close those loopholes, not mine. If there are conditions on the coupons circulating out there then I expect Blockbuster as a business to enforce those conditions.

If Blockbuster ultimately loses money on this Game Rush venture will I place the brunt of the blame on those trying to work the system? No, I'll blame Blockbuster first and foremost for not enforcing their own regulations and not attempting to close those loopholes in the first place.

My thanks to all those who have posted deals and loopholes with the system. I've used those those loopholes a few times my self. I'll admit I've traded a couple Hobbits, Unreal II's, and a couple Space Channel 5's for store credit.
Not to rain on the parade but I dont think you will have to worry about loopholes much anymore.

A few days ago I stopped in at the Gamerush where I know the manager pretty well (colleague of mine at school here). While talking about many things inflated trade-in values came up and he mentioned that had sent a letter regarding CAG threads/info related to loopholes/exploitation Blockbuster/GR Corporate Headquarters. He went on to say that they responded saying something to the means "we now have people monitoring trade-in prices to catch loopholes and shut them as soon as possible after they occur".

:?
cant say that I blame them. They were giving so much for so little for so long, it just got ridiculous.

As for them not filling preorders, they still havent filled my nocturne preorder, i am not holding my breath, i got it at ebgames, if they get my copy of nocturne in, that is great, if not, that isnt the end of the world.

THe preorder was/is great for games like halo2, san andreas, metroid prime 2, all the big sellers but for the small titles I sort of figured this might happen, i may just switch out my copy of nocturne for something else.

As far as the loopholes ending.....I'll believe it when I see it. One person allegedly getting a letter doesn't convince me....
As far as the loopholes ending.....I'll believe it when I see it. One person allegedly getting a letter doesn't convince me....
The thing is, most of the loopholes were directly related to some of the more favorable promotions, undertrained staff, and a different trade in value than the norm.

Not to mention that most of them were hugely situational and required all of the events (like a CC clearence of $5 games) to occur exactly at the right time for someone to get the benefit.

The loopholes allowed by the more favorable promos likely won't go away until Gamerush is on a more equal footing with EB and Gamestop.. which would appear to still be a while, at least in most markets.

The undertrained staff loopholes will always exist at some level, but it's unlikely that there will be huge amounts of undertraineded staff shortly... closing up a lot of the "double dipping" loopholes people were getting.

Consdering that there aren't huge numbers of clearenced CC games or any massive price drops at other stores, that loophole will close itself.
Of course, it will be a cyclical one...it'll happen again, and then go away.
Unless Gamerush has people start looking at trade in trends daily and start altering trade in value when than there is statistically significant amount of one title coming in, this loophole (while not as pronounced) will always exist.

The Nintendo DS is coming out NOV.2nd? I was not aware of that. I have over $260 in credit at GameRush and looking to buy something....not sure if I want a handheld though.

I also have 2 or 3 more DVD's to trade in, so I'll be pushing $300 credit soon.

I wish it was coming out November 2nd. According to Nintendo's website, "Nintendo DS will launch in the United States on Nov. 21 at an MSRP of $149.99."

I've never really tried the portable gaming thing but the DS has me very interested. I plan on picking it up when it comes out.

I think the higher than normal trade values is the real big one....I wonder how many ridiculously high values there are in the system still waiting to be discovered. With the way crappy games drop in price nowadays they need to get on the ball more if they want to close the loopholes. Of course, I hope they don't.....

Ah yes, the 21st for the DS. The DS has me very interested, but honestly, how often would I use it...probably not too much. The only time I can really think of is if I go on long car trips or things like that....but I already have a portable DVD player for those trips.

It's possible though, since GameRush credit has been good to me.

I was at Game Rush at 11am and they were willing to sell me copy for $29.99 with a trade-in. :) Too bad I don't have a PS2. :(

Yes. They called for all of my previous preorders. Nice people working at the local GameRush.
