New metal?
Why? I just happen to not be a single-minded music elitest.
Yea, I'm single minded because I dislike shitty generic grindcore  Genius.

You come off as single-minded in the way that you're so adamant about trying to make it sound like people are less-than because of what they listen to. You're one of "those guys". I didn't think uppity and metal really went together.

So I can't state my opinion? Thank you Herr Fuhrer for putting me in my place.
Killswitch Engaged and Godsmack(Just because they are the greatest band on the planet) and Slipnot. I also love Hatebreed.
Oh hells yeah!
I've been listening to the new Down and High on Fire lately....
Yeah, I really like Down's first cd. I'll be checking these two out.

Has anyone heard the new Iced Earth?
Get the new Megadeth Cd - United Abominations.
Will this be the disc that wins back my affection for what was once my favorite metal band?
I've been listening to the new Down and High on Fire lately....
New High on Fire is fucking great. Never listened to Down though.

Do you like stoner rock? Do you like Phil Anselmo?
Will this be the disc that wins back my affection for what was once my favorite metal band?
Yes.

Just got a bunch of these albums you guys have listed. I'm really liking the devil wears prada so far.
Do you like stoner rock? Do you like Phil Anselmo?
Yes to the former, no to the latter. Main reason I haven't checked them out.

Also, any fans of Repulsion? Is so, I highly recommend Otophobia. Pure old school styled grindcore that's pretty much just Repulsion worship.
wintersun
Wintersun is awesome. Hopefully their second album will actually be released eventually.

I also recommend Nightwish (symphonic metal - lighter than the ones you mentioned), Blind Guardian (essentially the Queen of metal - also lighter), and Kotiteollisuus (Finnish hard rock/metal).
Do you like industrial metal if so i'll mention a few?
Nine Inch Nails
Skinny Puppy
Domino Effect
Ministry
Front 242
Old Ministry (1990 to 95).

wow. I can't believe no one has posted this band yet.

They're real fucking metal. their debut cd just came out 2 weeks ago and it kicks so much ass, I didn't think it was possible.

mother fucking SUICIDE SILENCE:

Hmm, next time I need to tell people of bands I hate, I can just show them that list

I saw Despised Icon live once. Shrieking vocalist looked like a monkey with autism on stage.

No joke.

Though, Despised Icon has some squeals.. No matter how hxcore it makes me, I love that shit. The other vocals they mix in are what get me.

I was really excited to see Acacia Strain at Sounds of the Underground, because one of my friends kept hyping them (I should've known). I was in for a surprise. 80% of that tour sucked, by the way. Jesus.

Everyone needs to hear Alcest. French band, whose first couple of releases were pure, raw black metal, but whose Le Secret EP and Souvenirs D'un Autre Monde are some fucking amazing avant/black/shoegaze mixed weirdness. Some of the most emotive and beautiful music I've ever heard.
Damn. That is an impressive list. It'll take me a while to sample all those bands!
I've booked about half the bands on that list in san antonio, that's how I found about most of them.

There's Killswitch Engage, though they're considered "metalcore". And there's Disturbed, though they're more like Hard Rock then Metal. Don't take my word though, I'm just a poser.

I've been on a serious black/folk/viking metal trip during the past months. Mostly folk/viking.

Disillusion
Ensiferum
Falkenbach
Kathaarsys
Fintroll
Kadenzza
Vintersorg
Lothloryen
Thyrfing

Then there's Dethklok, of course.

I grabbed Souvenirs d'un autre Monde. That is some chill metal. I'll keep it.
What are you listening to?
The last few metal bands I listened to were Grand Belial's Key, Argholsent, and Countess.

August Burns Red.
Check out their CD "Thrill Seeker" first. It's AMAZING.

Becoming the Archetype.
Phew. Incredible. Went to high school with a few of the guys in it, too.

I totally forgot what this thread was even about. I didn't realize it was a request.

And it's weird, but it seems like most bands that have 3 words in their name are not to my liking..
Becoming the Archetype.

Actually haven't heard anything from Archetype, but Aletheian is metal as crap. Just not a fan of the vocals.

Arctopus played like 10 minutes away from my condo, and I had to work.. I was ticked. :whistle2:( I have that shirt on their myspace.

I have seen Dysrhythmia though, one of the same guys. They're really good, too. Experimental.

Very cool, have you guys heard of Blotted Science? It's Ron Jarzombek's band featuring Alex Webster on bass and Charlie Zeleny on drums. Anything that Ron does is awesome, I really recommend their first album that was just released weeks ago The Machinations of Dementia.

Yea, Colin Marston is in a shit ton of awesome stuff. Personally, my favorite project of his is Infidel?/Castro!

The Black Dahlia Murder.
Asesino.
Alice in Chains.
Death.
Pantera.
Emperor.
Bleeding Through.
Nine Inch Nails.
