ive never really been into pc gaming but ive been getting into it. im looking for an online arcadey fps that my computer can handle cause i dont want to put any extra money into it. its a standard dell but heres what i know:
cpu: 2.4 ghz and 256mb of ram
graphics card: 64 mb of ram

i dont know much else besides that. i know for sure i wouldnt be able to handle fps games like doom 3 or farcry. any help is greatly appreciated.

heres the games i currently have:
unreal tournament
yup thats it

upgrade the video card asap. once you do that, you'll be good to go.

I see you don't want to put money into it.. you're going to have problems, then. I'd recommend the Half-Life series, as well as Tribes.

I'd recommend adding an additional 256 megs of RAM, taking you to 512 total. With a newer video card and 512 MB of RAM, you should be able to get some good performance out of your rig because your CPU speed is pretty decent.

There are a ton of great games you can play without needing to upgrade.

And they're cheap!

And that's just scratching the surface. Get Half Life if you can. Then there's NOLF or No One Lives Forever. Serious Sam. Starcraft.

I would try to track down a copy of Planescape Torment if you can. It's dated and hard to find. Maybe check Ebay. But if you're into RPG's it's arguably one of the greatest RPG's in the history of gaming.

Then here are some good games to get you started for Free!

There are the full versions of Ground Control and Tribes 2 available for download. They're great and they're free!

Mafia's great but won't run on the 64mb card.. if it does, it'll run superslow.

I highly recommend it, though. Mafia, Deus Ex, and Freedom Fighters.. that would be the best $30 spent ever. I do have all three games, but paid more than $10 for each.
You should get Unreal Tournament 2004. Skip 2003 because everythink in 2003 is in 2004.
Can I get any gaming out of my new PC?

Dell Dimension 4600 Series,Intel Pentium 4 Processor at 2.8GHz EA w/1MB cache
512MB DDR SDRAM at 400MHz
128MB DDR NVidia GeForce FX 5200 graphics card

Haven't really gamed on a computer since my Commodore 64 days. :) Heard that City of Heroes game is cool. Will my PC run it?

Sorry to hijack your thread!

Mafia ran just fine on a GeForce 2, 1.6 P4, and 256 of RAM
