I'll never understand this train of thought. You're only hurting yourself.

OK i have gears 1 and forza 2. I just got my xbox not long ago and have heard mixed things about this game. I am not a 100% fan of GTA style stuff. I also just got KZ2 and have been solely playing that. Any advice on if this is something i should pick up or invest my money into something else.

I guess im just weird when it comes to this stuff as an example if im looking to buy a game/movie and i know it comes with a slipcase and the only copy left doesnt have the slipcase i dont buy it. Idk im just strange.

Agreed. Other than the semi-ugly packaging, you get the same exact disc to play to your 360.

Thanks for the share...

It wouldn't be so bad if the game was actually any good, but its the thought that counts!

Unbelievable....we are buying a game to play correct? Unless you are a collector who leaves their games sealed and own them simply for the purpose of collecting....why the hell does it matter? Whether the cover says Crackdown.....or Crackdown(Platinum Hits)....or even Crackdown Humpty Dumpty Edition....IT IS THE SAME GAME INSIDE. :)

And yet non-platinum/greatest hits versions of games are always worth more down the road. I'm not gonna knock someone if they want to have the original packaging.

i gues you could say i just dont like they way they look with the rest of my games. anyway if its the non platinum as some stated im in for one in addition to dark messiah

i honestly can't stand that my Burnout Paradise is Platinum Hits but i also agree that i bought it to play it so i can deal with that.
Are PGR 4 and the SImpsons game worth it?
I got Simpsons for 10 last week and I've enjoyed it so far. Its pretty fun and the gameplay is diverse from what I expected. If you even remotely like the Simpsons, its a good purchase at 10. As for PGR4 I contemplated buying it at 15 for awhile but held off. I rented it and its a lot like PGR3 only with motorcycles. I think now that I have some more money I'll probably pick it up for 15 just because PGR2 was one of my favorite xbox games and I liked PGR3. It's hard to justify another racing game when I'm still playing Forza 2 and Burnout Paradise.

AAAAAH!!!! The "I won't buy it 'cause it's greatest hits packaging" people drive me as nuts as the "I'm playing this 'cause of points!" people! BAAAAANNEEED! You guys don't get to play games anymore :p Hee hee

Crackdown and Syphoon Filter (the two PSP games) are all awesome. Crackdown is as good as I hoped it would be, and the first GTA-esque game I've actually finished. Not perfect, but it's good, and a ton of fun.

The Syphon Filter games are just awesome. Everything about them is perfect, from their fantastic gameplay (IMO better than Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory), awesome graphics, awesome story, awesome music (by Mark Snow!) They're WELL worth full price.

The only reason I care at all about original vs. greatest hits or whatever is b/c of picky ass collectors. people expect you to give them the game free if it's greatest/plat. hits. i personally wouldn't care if all my games were disc only if others didn't care, but they do.

I'll get Lost for $10. It'd cost barely less to rent.

Lost was...okay. I'm a huge fan of the show, and the game is...okay. I mean you can safely skip it, but it's not the worst thing ever.

The ending is relatively cool (though honestly I probably would have rather this just been an animated short story or something).

I do like my Lunar packaging, but...games don't seem like a real good investment :whistle2:D I don't know, Microsoft's Platinum Hits packaging is the worst I've ever seen, but who cares, it's still the same game. I sort of like having different packages on my shelf.

What bothers me is when other people are bothered by the buying/collecting habits of other people. Who cares why someone wants the original edition? That's their choice, it's what they want, and clearly there are enough people like that that it makes sense for Microsoft in particular to ugly up their case enough when it goes platinum so that it drives people who feel this way out of the woodwork and buy up the originals before they disappear.

I admit, I MUCH prefer to have the original, because the platinum cases and artwork are horribly ugly. I didn't mind the PS2 and to a lesser extent PS3 Greatest Hits red stuff, but man, Microsoft really makes the Greatest Hits stuff look terrible. It looks like the 80's vomited all over the cover and made a shitty border or something.

That said, if there's a great deal on a game, cheaper than the used cost, then I'll bite on a platinum. I have three in my collection and they are ugly as sin, but I deal. :) What this really does is push me into Gamestop's hands most of the time. Instead of pushing me into buying one at a higher price, I look at that ugly ass case and head to Gamestop to get the original, and for cheaper than their greatest hits copy. So it doesn't work on me at all, it just makes me buy used instead.
Crackdown is a really, really fun game. Easily one of my favorite 360 titles.
It starts off fun but then later in the game you realize you are the only thing that's actually any good in the game. The majority of the bosses you can just run up and melee the piss out of them. If it had better bosses the game would have been truly great, well that and the dialog. If the bosses had powers like you, were bigger than you, and had weaknesses that you had to expose and conquer by leveling up certain stats.

Soo anyway is LOST any good? Do I have to actually know what the show is about to enjoy it or will I truly be LOST?
What bothers me is when other people are bothered by the buying/collecting habits of other people. Who cares why someone wants the original edition?
Fair enough, I guess. It's just there are so many of them, and I mean most of us play games because we like them, and...I don't know, I still am disturbed a bit by the points/original packaging people...but you have a point :(

I admit, I MUCH prefer to have the original, because the platinum cases and artwork are horribly ugly. Yeah, they do. I mean IMO Sony/Nintendo's packaging is just fine. But Microsoft's looks like something *I* could do in an afternoon, and I have no creative abilities

Still...it's not that bad, and the game's the same. I actually sometimes WANT the greatest hits version as sometimes games have been patched a bit or have some extras or whatever. (Actually, doesn't the PH Mass Effect even come with that mini-expansion?)
It starts off fun but then later in the game you realize you are the only thing that's actually any good in the game. That could be good. As is though I had to be really careful with stuff later in the game. I mean even with my powers I needed to take out a lot of guys from a distance before I could get close and start wasting guys (and I think the bosses DO have powers, sort of, or are more invulnerable, or something). Besides, I like being the most powerful dude in town :D

After the WICKED ending, I drove back to the island, and just started killing everyone in site. Unfortunately nothing happens, but that would have been cool if it you could take down your company.

I'd love a sequel that follows from that-and maybe lets you level up further or something.

Other than that, my biggest gripe is actually that you can't install it to the hard drive for whatever reason.

Soo anyway is LOST any good? Do I have to actually know what the show is about to enjoy it or will I truly be LOST?

It's pointless if you're not a fan of the show. If you are, it's okay, but it's skipable. I think I had some more comments about it a few posts back.

Agreed 100% i consider myself a gamer/collector and i just dont see how as a "collector" anyone could put those horrible looking things into their collection.
And yet non-platinum/greatest hits versions of games are always worth more down the road. I'm not gonna knock someone if they want to have the original packaging.
Well, you let me know when you hit early retirement due to your investment in original-package video games.

I gotta admit that I don't like PH/GH/PC etc. versions of games. I have only 2 in my collection now. (Fable TLC because its a better game then the origanal and Champions of Norrath because the doushe ebayer didnt list it as GH). I will buy the new Mass Effect when it comes out because it has more content. I just dont like the way GH games looks with the huge collection of regular games I have. Is it kinda stupid, but I never by plat hit versions of games. The bigger question is why do people care what other people do that doesnt effect them what so ever?

I'm actually surprised at the hate here towards GH haters. I thought everyone here was a bunch of OCD collectors. Guess I'm in the minority :D

Although for games I don't care as much, but with movies, as someone mentioned - if there's a slipcover to a movie I won't buy without it. To me, I always want the best bang for my buck which means best version available and complete for very cheap.

It has to be original packaging for me too.

What surprises me is some of the hostility towards someone who does like to play and have a collection.

I liked to see another person who wont buy something without the slip cover. I guess i must have some sort of game collector ocd.

People that talk on the internet like they are 12 year old girls drive me nuts. I actually support you're opinion as far as gaming goes but you could not have come off more obnoxious. Besides while I agree that you should get games to play and enjoy who are we to tell people what they can and can't collect. If they want an original then let them have it.
Is Kameo worth it? Does it still hold up today? That's tempting at that price.
Kameo is awesome!! Such and under rated under appreciated game IMO!!
And yet non-platinum/greatest hits versions of games are always worth more down the road. I'm not gonna knock someone if they want to have the original packaging.
Though if they went Platinum Hit they're usually worth next to nothing anyway.

i think it's $2.00....

I called and they gave me the adjustment of 2.00 but i think the lady laughed at me because i wanted 2 dollars back.

I think I'll pick up a copy of Armor Core. i never owned one of those games since i never owned a PS2. I figure its about time I gave the franchise a shot.

Bought the Simpsons game. Rented it from Gamefly when it came out and it was pretty fun. Also picked up My Weight Loss Coach for DS for $15.99 too
