Just picked up Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, I've always been interested in playing it. Not so sure I'm going to like it after Skate 1&2. If I hate it, I guess I'll just give it to one of my many nephews for xmas.
Confirming that you can swap PS2 and PS3 discs if you have a backward compatible PS3. Works great!
Thanks, but from what I read it should work regardless of whether your PS3 is backwards compatible.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/08/how-it-works-singstar-ps2-ps3-compatibility/

"This new feature will work with all current PS3 system models and does not require a system software update."

(I'm pretty sure there were non-BC models available in August 2008 when that was posted.)

"We added to the PS3 SingStar game ‘engine’ the ability to read and decode the tracks from a SingStar disc for PS2. Keeping it within the PS3 game also means you can still play your downloaded tracks."
I'm on the fence about Timeshift, anyone have any opinions?
I liked the heck out of Timeshift. The first few levels were great with the shotgun and close corridors--I always rave about the shotgun combat. But I liked the entire game quite a bit. Good shooter for a cheap price.

You can swap PS2 and PS3 discs with ANY PS3. It does NOT have to be a backward compatible model.

I play PS2 singstar games on my 40 gig PS3 all the time. You just have to make sure that you put in a PS3 singstar game first, and then swap the PS2 games in from there.

I second the vote for Timeshift on the cheap. I picked up Timeshift on the PC cheap from Big Lots a few months back and overall I really enjoyed the game. Timeshift does just enough different to keep it interesting through most of the single player game and the time aspect of the game is implemented very well. I was not that crazy about the multiplayer but at $7 bucks (I paid $4 :) ) you will get your money's worth.

Holy holy holy shit!!! Conduit at 12???!!! This game just came out and everyone was raving about it and it was 50 and now it is 12 and hooooly crap I ordered you know I did!!! O____O

So is $12.99 a good price for silent hill? i know gamefly had it for $9.99 once but that was gamefly with there super scratched discs this is new. is the game worth the price at $13?

Conduit isnt worth 5 dollars. Seriously a POS game.

Couldn't resist the Conduit for that price. With everything I have gotten since BF I am pretty sure my wife is going to leave me.
Man I kinda wanna pick up Matt Hazard too....

For $10 it's so hard not to. But the game must be awful
Eat lead was actually a underrated game.

The bad guys get a little repetitive at times and a couple stages difficultly ramped up cheaply a time or two and the design was a little lackluster but I think if they just had some more support and spend another 2 months polishing it could have been a really good game.

It made me laugh a couple times and it never got really that boring, I enjoyed play it. I got it for 10 bucks on ps3 but its worth 20.

Just a cheesey action game with a different take on games.

if you only have a wii, the conduit is decent.
allowing you to customize controls on the fly, though, is amazing, completely spoiled me so going back to ps3 and 360 shooters felt clumsy and stupid if I wanted to tweak things.

Also munchables at $10 is strongly recommend for anyone that likes katamari/eat creatures to get larger genre- the story and characters are forgettable, but the gameplay is strong.
The game is trash. Ive owned it. You can look at fanboy reviews all day, but its your money, spend it like you want to.
You may dislike it, but it got great reviews and has excellent graphics and multiplayer features for a Wii title. No need to troll or accuse people who like the game of being fanboys.

Graphics are pathetically bad. Think crappy PS2 level. Great reviews?

http://www.giantbomb.com/the-conduit/61-21121/reviews/ - 40 out of 100 from Giant Bomb

http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/theconduit/review.html - 65 out of 100 from Gamespot

Indeed, top places to read reviews all agree, great reviews.

Also, online is filled with cheaters using cheat codes. Nothing but invincible people spamming rockets everywhere. Great job by nintendo for their online for sure. Remember kids, Wii games cannot receive patches.

IGN had been running Conduit ads for maybe 1 month strait before the game came out, they also had exclusive first review for it. Paid and bought.

Again, a game that scores 6's may not be for everybody, but plenty of people enjoy games like that - Way of the Samurai, etc.. And price is certainly a factor - the less you pay, the easier it is to put up with a lack of polish.

Anyway, much more importantly, did NewEgg drop out of Bing.com?
The Conduit reviews:

IGN: http://wii.ign.com/articles/996/996847p1.html 86
Kotaku: http://kotaku.com/5303623/the-conduit-review-a-bland-but-enjoyable-shooter

I'll give you 1up's score is pretty low. But a game scoring 6's doesn't make it terrible, either. That's a shame about the online play being screwed up.
That a 6 rated against the entire wii FPS library. If you put Conduit up against any PS3/360 /PC FPS, it would be in the lower 1-2 out of 10 scores! Even Turning Point & Haze are HUGE improvements over that game.

This post made me giggle in a good way.

I keep telling myself that I am not going to buy anymore games because Christmas is coming but then I come to CAG, and I spend more money.

In for two with free shipping:
iconwii.gif
Madworld $11.99
:360: Viking $9.99

I just ordered Silent hill and NBA Homecourt. I love newegg. No tax free shipping what u see on the price tag is what you pay. Brand new games none of the scracthed up gamefly stuff. Newegg = best store online. Amazon is a close 2nd but they only offer free shipping on orders $25+ which is annoying.

Viking is worth 10 and lower, i wouldn't pay anymore than that...

the combat is fun, the graphics are great... but the game just feels stale, and gets really repetitive after awhile.

i'd give it like a 6/10. worth playing, but once you beat it you won't feel any need to play again (at least i didnt).
Hard to resist mediocre games at such cheap prices.

Looking at

Bionic Commando
Conduit
Legends of Wrestlemania
I agree. Will probably get commando.

Unless they bring it down again, hehe.

A lot of these new drops end on the 14th. I got an e-mail listing these as a part of their holiday sale. Games I saw that I haven't seen mentioned is Red Faction Guerrilla for $20 for the 360.

Pretty good price, and it's probably a better game than the games I'm considering buying from NewEgg, but I can't help but remember that steam sale for the thq pack for only $50. Hoping Steam has this game for even cheaper individually, or as a pack with the other red factions since I don't own them.
I read the argument about Conduit. So... What game is it similar to? I really can't decide on it. The price seems rather tempting.
Very similar to many bland FPS shooter games. Rented it and was glad to send it back. Wanted to really like it, but I think your $ is better spent on Madworld or HOD Overkill.
