Newegg & Amazon: MLB 2K9 $42.99 & free ship

That was quick on the price reduction. I played the demo, it plays a lot different than 2k8, but not any better. Good price for 360 only owners who need some baseball.
Holy smokes, thats some decent price drop, going to get it now.

That's what I thought. I was planning on waiting for a good drop and here one was - just a week after release.

I couldn't believe my eyes. And I couldn't believe it hadn't been posted yet either :D

HUGE MISTAKE!! That game is HORRENDOUS!!

Jeez, this came out LAST week. Guess it speaks to how horrendous they know their own game is. They could have sold this for 20 bucks last week and I still would have bought The Show, but for people who only have 360 and need some baseball, this isn't bad.

It's not.

This is a botched series that seems to be forever "looking ahead to next year." Well, it's been doing that for years now!

Sucks because it's all you have on the 360. For all the complaining fans have about Madden's exclusivity, I think 2K has done baseball fans a lot worse by gobbling up the rights to this sport and giving us this craptastic title year in and year out.
Yea but the ones on newegg seem to be a little better. you guys think its worth it?
I rented it, and its better than 2k8 in alot of ways, so far the biggest issues, are some fielding miscues, i.e dropped fly balls, another issue is the random firstbaseman pulled off the bag glitch. These issues are to be addressed in a patch which is set to be released soon. Other than that, the presentation is nice, they still need to do some work, like with the players moving akward at times. All in all its a good baseball game. 42.99 is not a bad price to pick this up at. thats my two cents.

I am really disgusted with this year's iteration. I'm thinking about selling it. Even at $42.99, I can't say I recommend it.

dont rip on this game, its pretty fun. im sick of hearing about the SHOW. who gives a shit, id'e buy it if i had a crap ass ps3 but i dont

This is definitely worth it if you like baseball. Obviously I will be playing more of The Show on the PS3, but 2K9 on my 360 is still getting some love due to superior online gameplay and better pitching/hitting mechanics. This is the first year that Visual Concepts took over and you can tell they are headed in the right direction.

It's not perfect, but it's far beyond the first three "next-gen" offerings.

I own both a 360 and PS3 and the Show is far better. I wouldn't mind picking this up at $20 but not a cent more. Decent game for people who need a baseball fix.

get at it before it drops. trust me, if you think it's a good price, i would grab it. then again, it will drop later again.
does anyone know when these price drops will end?
For this turd, I'd wait another few weeks. This is bargain bin material.

Tempted to get my fix but my CAG sense is making me wait.

All signs point to sinking rock with the poor reviews and quick sale.

I got excited when I saw MLB but then I saw it was for 2K9. I wish it was the show. I am not a fan of the 2K franchise.

Time for CAG to throw some weight around. Let's all agree to not buy this game until it hits $30 or something. I think once this community becomes big enough, that could be a real piece of leverage.

Damn, I feel sorry for you. Just don't give in, this game is TERRIBLE!!! I'm happy I also have a PS3 because I just got MLB 09 The Show and it is awesome!!! :bouncy:

2K sports should lose the MLB exclusivity due to the 2 years straight of crappy terrible baseball games.

The best thing about this game is the commercial on TV. Definately not worth over $5.

Lighten up, Francis.

What are reviews looking like this year? Despite some of the pounding this series gets on these boards, last year's version was not that bad. It has a Metacritic rating over 70, and I would say that's a fair score for it. It had a lot of faults, but was still fun to play. The series' biggest problem is that it simply is not nearly as good as The Show. If you have a PS3, get The Show. If not, this game isn't a terrible buy, but only at the right price.

EDIT: Looking at some of the reviews, it seems like the series took another step backwards...a big one. That 4.5 from GameSpot certainly doesn't look good. I'd wait for this to hit $20.

Amen to that. 2K does an amazing job with basketball (best series out there) and they did a good job with football (All-Pro 2K8 still better than anything EA has put out in the last few years except for 09) but they absolutely suck at baseball.

I guess at least the game doesn't have widespread freezing problems like 2K6 and 2K8 do (although I have seen scattered reports of it.) If you only have a 360, I suggest getting The Show either on PS3 or on PS2. I know many people (being from St. Louis) who have bought PS3's just for The Show. It's sold out at most retailers here.

2K8 was on clearance at Target before the All-Star Break last year, I wonder if 2K9 will even make it that long this year. In comparison, The Show didn't go on clearance at Target until after the World Series, and Gamestop was still selling it new for $40-$50 up until the new one came out.

KueMan10 just saved me $42.99.
I mean, we had horrible glitches last year that never got patched either. This game is unpolished and rushed as usual.

The PS3 finally has a real exclusive sports game that tops the 360: Baseball.

I use to always say with High Heat Baseball, if there is a graphical glitch, the play was just supposed to be that way and just ignore the graphics. Those videos are pretty hard to ignore ;)

Too bad the game is still garbage. Don't be fooled by a quick play of the demo, that top coat of paint wares off real quick and those bugs/glitches/ and poor design choices rear their ugly head all over.

If you don't believe me, don't come crying to me when they game freezes on you in the 8th inning.

Edit: Those videos had me dying! It's almost worth this game existing just for the funny videos about the crap that happens in it.

Gamefly had last year's PS3 version of this for like $13.99 by .. I think May 1st? It was ridiculously early. Sounds like this one will be the same way, on both versions.

Thing is with High Heat it played the best until MVP Baseball 05, and the glitches were nothing like the ones shown in the videos above. They were more like graphic hiccups (clip-in, etc.) instead of guys doing full barrel rolls going into walls.

How X-Play constantly rates this 4 out of 5 each year while giving The Show a 4 out of 5, but having a negative tone to its review while saying how "improved 2KX is" just baffles my mind.

Oh, good old X-Play. That's reliability for you. Come on guys keep it coming. I wanna see another catcher run into the crowd.
