NFL 2007 Season Thread
Inclement weather and the west coast offense are a bad mix
Except for the fact that the Packers run a spread offense, not the West Coast. They just throw a lot of short passes out of it.
Decisive win by Chicago. I was en route to Florida and listened to the highlights via XM on Airtran. I was stoked.
Yeah but at this point in the season I was rooting for a loss so we could get as high of a draft pick as possible.

It is kinda nice to route the Pack and screw them out of home field in the playoffs though ;). 3 losses this season and two of them came at the hands of the Bears.

Looks like Washington is trying to give this game away to the Vikings. Kinda like the Bears gave the game to Minnesota despite their best efforts (4 turnovers) to let Chicago have it last week. It's almost like Minnesota doesn't want to go to the playoffs because they know they will get owned.
Nice. Portis threw a TD!
And now he runs one in! Looks like I will win the consolation bracket in one of my FF leagues... :cold:

The challenge of 12 men on the field was a bull shit call. (MIN vs. Wash)

The rules state:
Players-Substitutions

1. Each team is permitted 11 men on the field at the snap.
2. Unlimited substitution is permitted. However, players may enter the field only when the ball is dead. Players who have been substituted for are not permitted to linger on the field. Such lingering will be interpreted as unsportsmanlike conduct.
3. Players leaving the game must be out of bounds on their own side, clearing the field between the end lines, before a snap or free kick. If player crosses end line leaving field, it is delay of game (five-yard penalty).
4. Offensive substitutes who remain in the game must move onto the field as far as the inside of the field numerals before moving to a wide position.
5. With the exception of the last two minutes of either half, the offensive team, while in the process of substitution or simulated substitution, is prohibited from rushing quickly to the line and snapping the ball with the obvious attempt to cause a defensive foul; i.e., too many men on the field.
Hey guys I some how got into the super bowl of my FF league.

What RB should I play?

I have.

L.Maroney
MJD
Brandon Jacobs
Ryan Grant.

As of right now I am leaning towards a Ryan Grant L.Maroney combo because even though NE is a pass first team I am sure that L.Maroney will break at least 100 yards with 1 or 2 TD. MJD has to split time with Fred Taylor and Brandon Jacobs....even though he does well most of the time, is limited due to the shitty offensive. I am sure the NJG will be down big and give up on the running game.
Hope you played Maroney and Jacobs.

L.Maroney 156 yards, TD
MJD 44 yards, TD
Brandon Jacobs 145 yards, 2TD
Ryan Grant 100 yards, TD

I played L.Maroney and Ryan Grant so I didnt do to bad.

The only part I will get screwed on is if Tom Brady 2 INT suck all my points out.

C'mon man, you always have to root for a Bears win against any NFC North team, but especially against the Packers. To do so otherwise, even for a good draft pick, is sacrilege.

Would you be willing to sacrifice a somewhat meaningless win agaist the Packers if it meant we could draft a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady type QB the following year?

Well, you have to have an offensive line first... and besides, this is the Bears we're talking about. We have as much chance of getting a good quarterback as we do making the playoffs this season. We were a good running team, that was until Jones was traded and Benson was given the role. (And we all know how well that 4th overall pick worked out)

Besides, as meaningless as it is, it really put a dent in the Pack's psyche and knocked them for a serious loop and put them out of home field contention. Favre has been unable to win in Texas Stadium and they have to win there in order to go on to the big game. So the win wasn't that "meaningless" at all.

I disagree that the Packers are now reeling, but I can't really explain why other than noting they have a vet and HOF'er at the helm.

If anything, it should be Dallas that is more fragile mentally right now, due to injuries and less than dominant performances against poor teams lately.

Anyone know a good way to look for all the "out of position" players that caught receiving touchdowns for the year?

Like Mike Vrabel an OLB that has 2 TDs?

I know there are more lineman and defensive guys in the league that do the same thing I am just having trouble finding them.

Jared Allen is another one of them. He caught 2 TDs for the Chiefs this year. I think The Bears did a tackle eligible play earlier in the year as well.

You know, lately the only person who seems to be putting up consistent numbers on the Packers is Ryan Grant. He seems to reach 100 yards and put up a TD in just about every game once he started getting it going about 6-7 games back.

Meh, I'm bummed over the loss, especially the fact that Kyle Orton outplayed Favre

Time for Favre to hang it up! LOL j/k. ;)

From the highlights it looks like the special teams and bad weather conditions had a lot to do with it. I've been waiting for Lovie to give Orton a chance to play all year. I liked him as a late round selection a couple years ago and I hope he does well.

I love fantasy football.

I go 3-9 in the regular season, but make the last playoff spot. I'm about to get to my league's Super Bowl unless LT absolutely goes off.

Best part is, basically I've got Kaeding v Tomlinson and I came in up 29. Kaeding's 40yd FG nullified LT's TD. I love it.

How the hell did you get into the playoffs at 3-9? There were two teams that had worse records than that at the end of the regular season?

Yup, two 4-10 teams, one who I beat the last week to get in.
I Would not want to play the Chargers right now in the AFC. I think they're better than the Jags.
I disagree, I think the Jags are playing more dominant, plus any team coached by Norv Turner is gonna have some stinker games.

fuck yes. I win my FF superbowl.

Oh yea, I came back from almost nothing to win it all.

Time for an entire year of gloating.

The Patriots - Giants game is also going to be simulcast on NBC and CBS.

With the Giants probably resting their starters it will most likely end up being a lackluster game. But atleast I'll be able to watch it in the comfort of my living room.

Now Bryant Gumbel can embarrass the NFL in front of a huge national audience. Hopefully this should get him fired, but it won't be soon enough.

I'll have the TV muted with the radio on.

Sweet. Now I don't have to call Comcast to order their little sports package for one day just for the Patriots vs Giants game. I will have my #39 Maroney jersey ready for sure.... and my Patriots drinking mug that I got for Christmas. :D

LET'S GO PATS!

Too bad the NFL Network HD channel doesn't have their audio in Dolby 5.1 sound. Anytime an NFL game is in 5.1 sound all one has to do is unplug the center channel speaker on their surround sound to kill the play by play commentary. It comes really in handy with... oh.... John Madden.

Well New England only needs 1 touchdown on Saturday to set the NFL's all time season scoring mark, currently held by the Vikings at 556. I'd say that's a record they're getting for sure.

The patriots are cheaters.

I wonder what kind of astericks the league will use if they go undefeated adn win another Lombardi?

Since ESPN has nothing else to do they've been running the "What if?" scenarios all week. "Who would win between NE and the 85 Bears?" "What about the 89 49ers?"

GAY!

I think they're just trying to get Parcells more active in the commentary before he leaves.
1st wasted challenge of the night.
And on the next play... Eli will do what he does best which is... throw an interception.
Held them to a field goal. They should be proud :D
Yeah, they should be proud of somehow causing Watson to drop the ball twice. What is wrong with Ben Watson today? He's usually very reliable.

GREAT commercial for the NFL Network. They won't charge customers for channels they don't want... But they charge everyone for 4 womens channels.
