I agree with taking Montana over Young.

I was just naming names, dick.

How about I go with John Brodie and Y.A. Tittle

just because theyre old players doesnt mean theyre as good as montana ;)
"When you give somebody that many opportunities, anybody can make a play," linebacker Ray Lewis said, referring to his team's four first-half turnovers. "Now, come see us in Baltimore."
This is the only one that I agree with because it's true for any team. The rest were pretty much them being sore losers.

It's funny the Browns are now 4-0 when I go to games. Its become a superstition at our tailgate party, heh. I have to get tickets for the last three home games pretty soon.
just because theyre old players doesnt mean theyre as good as montana ;)
Not saying they are.

Sad news for 49er fans, it looks like Nolan is probably getting next year to come back and prove himself.

If they do that then they are dumb. He had enough time to prove himself. Him and Alex Smith both have.
Changing HCs sets you back two years on average.
Or 50 years if you are the Detroit Lions ;)

THIS is the year.....they are impressive. First time they have even be mentioned in playoffs....
The Head coach doesn't have much to do with the 49ers struggles...
He and the coordinators he has surrounded himself with does. He was supposed to be a defensive minded coach and there team is one of the worst in take aways and sacks. They have pretty good talent on D and the problem is more the schemes they use. Also using the 3-4 was and still is a huge mistake. So it does have to do a lot with Nolan and in my opinion Alex Smith.

If the defense can't strip the ball by the time you get to the NFL, coaches aren't going to be able to help them do it better. It's pretty simple concept, they aren't executing it.

The 3-4 is a good system if you have the right personel. It may simply be they have the wrong personel for the 3-4, and if that's the case you either blame the HC or the GM. The HC if he's the guy bringing in the players, or the GM if he's the guy bringing in the players, and didn't pay attention in the interview process.

'Hmm...this guy likes the 3-4 defense. We have 4-3 defensive specialists.

...

fuck it, he smells pretty.'

You have to give him at least next year to figure it out. The team has had some pretty high-profile injuries. I will say they screwed up the Falcons game when they stopped throwing it to Davis. Whomever made that call, feel free to fire.
*sigh*

Chris Henry...why you so crazy?

"On Tuesday night, police in Newport, Ky., a suburb on the other side of the Ohio River within view of Paul Brown Stadium, were called to an entertainment district following a dispute over a parking fee. A parking attendant told police that Henry and another man parked their sport utility vehicle without paying. According to an incident report, the attendant said Henry argued loudly with him and said, "Don't you know who I am?" The attendant said Henry threw a $5 bill on the ground, but the money was returned to Henry and the police were called. No charges have been filed, but the attendant can file a complaint with prosecutors against Henry."
So all of this fuss was because Henry didn't pay the parking lot attendant in the correct manner? Because he put it on the ground instead of in his hand?

(Sorry, thats just the defense attorney in me talking).

The dude is a total ass hole. So are a lot of the Bengals, I think they have had more criminal incidents than any other team in the NFL.

I'm looking forward to the (5-3) Browns at the (6-2) Steelers this weekend. I never thought I'd say this, or at least not his season anyway, but I am seriously concerned the Browns might give us a run for our money. Not concerned that they'll win, just a run for our money: They have a high powered and talented offense.

MIke Nolan has a decent defense.. he just needs the offense to put some TOP on the board.. Alex Smith might be a problem, but he also has no WRs and Frank Gore is always hurt...it also might be a bad offensive coordinator as well... who knows...

i dont get why 5 of the first 10 plays arent designed for vd. hes the only threat right now, especially if the d keeps stacking the line against gore. set up screens, line him up at wr, hand the ball off to him just get VD THE DAMN BALL!!!! too bad i dont have nfl ticket to watch those games but it doesnt look like those niner games are watchable anyways

Stripping the ball is not the only thing that causes turnovers. Getting pressure on the QB by using different schemes and putting the right personal in the right position is up to the coach. Yes it is not all the coaches fault but a lot of it is. If you know the Niners Defense they are not really set up well to use the 3-4. I am not saying the 3-4 Defense does not work, but for it to work well you need 4 Good-Excellent LBs which the Niners don't have. You also need LBs that are all around players or ones that compliment each other well, again which the niners are working towards but do not have yet. Nolan was brought in to build this team. He has done a decent job but now he needs to win. Obviously they thought they were heading in the right direction. You can tell by some of the moves they made, like giving so much money to Clements and trading away there 1 st round pick is 2008 to get Staley last year. With a 2-6 record, losing 6 in a row and things not looking like they will be getting better they need to make changes. The only big injury they have had was Manny Lawson. Gore has been hurt since the pre sesaon but he cannot run because no team respects the worst passsing game in the NFL.

I've had offers to sell my 4 seats for this weekend's Packers Vikings game for $300 per seat. I know the money is nice, but as a fan that bleeds Green and Gold, should I pass and go to the game myself? I've already seen 4 games at Lambeau this year and I have season tickets for next year too. Advice?
Side question: How much would it take for YOU to sell your tickets to your home team's game?

I've got tickets for next weeks game...we paid around $200 for 'em but neither of us have been to a game in a long time so'd it take a little more for us to give em up

I love the Pack too but if the profit was enough to finance my 2nd HDTV, I'd sell in a heartbeat. Especially when you have access to plenty of other games.

The proffit is good, I'll clear about $240 per seat. I'm sort of leaning that way right now, but I always have a hard time pulling the trigger on these kinds of things...

I'd do that in a heartbeat then, ecspecially if I had season tickets. Its only a Vikings game, either we're gonna tear them up or Adrian Peterson is going to make it a close game.

The 49ers would work in the 3-4 if they had a thing called a fuckING PASS RUSH.

I'll write down the 49ers struggles:

The WR's can't catch

The QB can't throw

The D can't get a pass rush

The Coaches can't make in-game adjustments

In better news, ANDY LEE IS GOING TO THE PRO BOWL

why do you hate VD?????
i think the fact the Pats get to choose which #1 draft pick to lose is retarded...
They didn't choose. The NFL took the Patriots' 1st round pick. The pick they still have was originally the 49ers pick, acquired in a trade during the 07 draft.
if I were the commish they wouldn't have any draft picks this draft...
If I were the commish they wouldn't be undefeated right now.

the D is on the field WAY too much because of your lousy TOP... convert some third downs.. your boys would be decent.. and you need someone to spell Gore.. maybe Michael Turner next season.. other than that.. when I saw them play the Steelers.. they looked good.. but there is no passing threat there.. some of it is playcalling..some of it is Smith not fully developed yet..some if it is the receviers suck

If thats the punishment for having a camera in an improper position, what would the punishment for pumping in fake crowd noise be? Or cheating the salary cap? All the Broncos lost were two 3rd round picks for cheating the salary cap over a number of years.

The NFL can have the 32nd pick, we'll take the Superbowl and the 49ers top 10 pick and call it a day. And the camera will now be filming the same signals in a different position, legally. Anywhere but the sideline.

Hicks and Robinson can spell Gore. They are both decent back ups. And if they had a decent QB they would be decent. The D is on the field way to much because of Alex Smith. A decent QB would be able to work with the weapons the Niners have. And I really can't think of one game this year I can say the Niners looked good in. Even the games they won.

that SHOULD be the punishment for in-game cheating.. I've always been aware of the colts pumping crowd noise..but 2 yrs ago I brought it up and everyone told me to quit bitching...cap cheating.. I'd penalize their cap and make it lower...

btw.. it's great that you think your boys are winning it all..

neither of those two are that good... it's a swinging door with a QB.. don't give a young QB good weapons and a decent OL you end up with a Tim Couch... other wise you end up with a Big Ben...The Niners don't have any weapons besides an oft injured Frank Gore...

How many times to people need to cry wolf before the NFL gets their act together and check it out???

It's funny because there were two controversial things that happened to the Steelers on their SB run.. somehow during the Patriots game the Patriots got an extra 1:00+ in the fourth quarter..then the crowd noise in Indy..

The NFL itself said it didn't happen...at least that time.

We can all assume that it's been happening, but until the NFL comes in one day and goes 'PWNT!' then it's just speculation until then.

Like how the Twins had the A/C on and the groundskeeper admitted it, but in the eyes of the MLB they couldn't prove it.

fucking cheaters either way.

I was at the Pats/Colts game and other Colts' games prior. I've not heard of this "pumping in" crowd noise. It certainly didn't sound the way my friends said it sounded on the broadcast there.
If this is true it's just as bad as the "spy games" earlier this season.
Note the date. It's been rumored for awhile, but never proven - just like the Patriots.

The Niners O line is pretty good. Gore is not oft injured. He has been injured this year but played all of last year and was third in the league in rushing and Smith still played mediocre. They have Jackson, Battle, and Vernon Davis. Now these might not be the best weapons in the league but when you throw Gore in there he has a decent set up weapons. He is just not good. If you watch any Niner games you will see is bad throws, how he cannot pick up blitzes, how he is erratic in the pocket, how he leaves the pocket way to early, how he does not protect the ball, etc. etc.

Oh I noticed, that's why I compared it to the Pats incident. We'll never know how long either team has been using such tactics. Kinda makes you wonder what other shady practices are going on.

As if this year hasn't sucked enough... Now there's rumors that Chicago will put in Grossman if Griese struggles. Put in Orton. This season is pretty much done. Might as well evaluate the kid and see what we've got.

Maybe riding the bench did Grossman some good?

You guys need to cut ties with Grossman ASAP. The kid just can't put it all together.

Doesn't seem like as many Chicago fans are talking about D Nabb as I thought there would be. The real question is do the Bears think they can get back to the SB now or develop for the future? It's hard to tell with alll the injuries they've had on defense.
