NFL 2010-2011 Season Discussion Thread

Everybody builds up the Pats for an easy Super Bowl win and they fail to live up to expectations once again.

It sucks that Holmgren let Rob Ryan leave to join Dallas, so I hope he gets Dick Jauron for the DC job. Philly's thinking about making him the DC, so Holmgren needs to be quick.
I can't bring myself to root for the Steelers under any circumstances. Go NFC.
This. I do not want to see them have a chance at a 7th Super Bowl title.

Man, fuck a bunch of the NE fanbase. Lots of empty seats before it was absolutely over.

Don't have anybody to root for, but I think for me it goes Packers, Steelers, Bears, Jets. Packers are only because I have zero hate for the team. Steelers in the number two because I respect Polamalu while hate Big Ben. Bears get the number three by default because Rex Ryan is going to sound off like a kid playing Halo if he wins it all and I don't want that to be my reality.

The Jets have been hated on since the offseason, this win feels so goooooood. Absolutely no one thought the Jets could win except for the team itself. They talked the talk and walked the walk.

And please, no bullshit excuses like "They didn't play like their usual self" (no shit, maybe the Jets had something to do with it?) or "He shouldn't have dropped the ball in the endzone". Give credit where credit is due.

Also, fuck you Jets haters!

I thought the Jets could win. I don't think you can point to a single person who didn't think they could. They played better today so they won, it's as simple as that, I don't think anybody could offer an excuse other than "the team that played better won."

cant believe im saying this but go slackers and bears either of them win it all is better than watching 2 league protected teams battle it out

The jets are just annoying as fuck. Everyone outside of NY is really tired of Rex Ryans gimmick. I dont even really care about the team itself I just do not want to see a week of Rex Ryan clips from every news outlet.

Their team is solid and I think Marky Mark is a legit QB who will never be considered great but will always get the job done. I just wish their coach would have a heart attack already.

I enjoyed the games. I'm very hopeful that the Rams will be able to make it to the playoffs next year, and it was lots of fun watching what the best teams in the NFL could do today. Go whomever! :bouncy:

YAY BEARS!!! That being said the one team I didn't want to see again was the Packers...... *sigh*. Oh well, regardless of next week's outcome the NFC North will show its supremacy once again!
I don't know why everyone hates on Rex so much, he actually makes football fun again.
Agreed. I don't like the Jets but I love Rex. He's the coach everyone hates but secretly wants. I love his enthusiasm and his press conferences are great.

To be fair the same is just as true of Belichick.

It appears Welker put his foot in his mouth with those comments.

Seriously though, I'm glad to see the Pats get knocked down a peg. Never did care for them. Don't really have a rooting interest, but I'm hoping it's one of the two teams from the NFC. Jets are division rivals as well (Dolphin fan), and I have a thing against PA teams (comes from my hatred of the Phillies). If I had to pick one, I guess the Packers. Partially since Favre is annoying and I was already anti-Viking to begin with.
To be fair the same is just as true of Belichick.
yeah - he's great too. There is only a handful of coaches this applies to. Unfortunately no one is thinking that about Coughlin.
I don't know why everyone hates on Rex so much, he actually makes football fun again.
Yup. I'd rather have a coach who shows confidence on his team publicly week in and week out than a coach who doesn't.

I don't get why everyone hates the Jets either (outside of Patriots fans, but that's understandable). They haven't won the SB in forever, they play like a team, they have LT and Jason Taylor who's never won anything in their great careers, they have hardworking players (maybe not Cromartie, I have to admit), and they have that tough defensive mentality. They may talk trash sometimes, but Bart Scott said it best before the game, everyone does it, the Jets just do it on camera.

His waddle into the endzone today was epic.

Yes it was. As it was happening I turned to my wife and said "can you believe that guy lost eleventy pounds with lap band surgery???"

Really now, gonna go the way of the vindicated fan? The media's been all over their jock since last post season. Many, many analysts had 'em crowned Super Bowl champs before the first snap of the first game this year.

The only team that can legitimately call themselves underdogs at this point are the Bears, no one had them picked as doing much of anything this year.

Damn, that was a painful game - Pats couldn't get back in sync once Brady got picked, which was entirely his fault and totally capitalized on by the Jets.

Then there was the Crumpler drop in the endzone...and Chung's fumble on the fake punt, shortly after Tomlinson had made a similar fumble in the wildcat.

The Jets not only beat the Pats flat out, the Pats beat themselves, too - so it was a double stomp. No turnovers by the Jets. Neither Pats onside kick worked, though both of them could have.

Would've been SHOCKED if the Pats had grabbed the 2nd onside kick attempt and tied it up. Would've made for quite the finish. Y'know, down fighting...rather than choking.

Guess I'm rooting for the Pack now. Ah well. I hope the Steelers give Sanchez the smackdown.

The same media that brings up controversies where there are none? Those same analysts that switched their pick to the Patriots midway through the season and didn't believe the Jets had any chance at all? You're another hater, fuck you.

I seriously don't understand why everyone is hating on the JETS so much. They may talk a lot of shit, but hey, they backed it up. In my opinion I'd rather see the Jets in the superbowl than the Patriots/Steelers who seem to make it every year.

hate him much.

You need to remember no one throws on Revis Island so Cromartie gets picked on all game. The guy set a Charger franchise record of 10 interceptions in a year, including the longest play in NFL history (missed field goal return 109 yards)... this is after missing most of his final collegiate year to an ACL tear (an injury that alot of people don't come back from).

Thank god the Pats didn't go any further.

I'm not knocking the guy as a player; he has above average coverage skills, is a great athlete, and can be a game changer (as a CB or as a return man, which is crucial to the Jets as Brad Smith may still be injured next week). When I say he may not be as hardworking is when it comes to his tackling. If he can avoid making the tackle, he will, and you'll never see him sticking his nose into the pile.
I am unable to watch ESPN for awhile now cause I can't stand seeing Rex Ryan and hearing that stoopid ape speak....uuugggg
I've entered total ESPN and sports blog embargo for the next week or two. It's the only way to get by.
(maybe not Cromartie, I have to admit),
Must admit, Rex has managed to get him to step up his game. I just remember when Rex screamed at him over getting torched by Pierre Garcon last week, and Cro responding by giving them the field position to win the game. When the Jets beat us in San Diego last year, he let Shonn Greene just run past him. And did not give a shit that he let it happen. I dislike Rex Ryan but I do have to give him credit for being a good coach.

The only reason I'd pull for the Jets is because LT is with them (and I'd rather see the Jets than the Steelers). Even then, it's with my nose pinched.

Better team won, not much more to say. You can talk shit when you back it up like that. Bart Scott needs to shut the fuck up though, he hasn't made a play all year.

I think hiring some coordinators would be the first item on the agenda of the Patriots this offseason. They didn't have a defensive coordinator this year and haven't had an offensive coordinator since Josh McDaniels left.

They have to address that lack of a pass rush and lack of depth on the d line. They need a tall, deep threat WR to stretch the field so that the Jets can't have Revis and Cromartie single cover their guys and take away the middle. They have too many of the same type of WR. Hernandez being hurt killed them today.

O-line is going to be different next year, Stephen Neal will probably retire, Matt Light looks done, and they have the Mankins situation to deal with.

I think a lotta Bears fans are nervous about the pack coming to town again with the way they've been playing..

Exactly, his post-game interview was ridiculous, the guy had his name said during the game ONCE... for causing an injury time-out. He did nothing.

The rest of the Jets have definitely earned the right to shit talk. I'm wondering what "personal" beef Rex can come up with for the Steelers now.

I guess we're all just haters. You poor, abused Jets fan. Do you realize how whiny you sound about this?

Yeah, the media may have started backing the Patriots halfway through the Jets but to act like they completely turned their backs on them is just silly. The organization was sued for sexual harassment and it made the news for less than a week. What other controversy were there?

Doesn't seem to have effected either teams field performance.

I don't think any of that matters, either.

If anything the trash talk helped the Jets, which was the only real "controversy" as of late.

Haha, I've ignored Rex Ryan since the whole foot fetish thing. So I haven't heard much about it. :bouncy:

Really, just look at some of their fans in this thread. It's funny to see the east coast teams fans whining. They get 100X more coverage than they deserve.

As far as the team. I like them and hope they make it to the SB because they haven't been in a while.

What can you expect? It's New York :)

Look back at all your posts in this thread and tell me you weren't hating. And every other post had either "Jets are so cocky, can't wait until NE shuts them up" or "Jets are one and done".

Brett Favre was sued, not the Jets. The Jets will never get respect until they win the whole thing.

Alright, if Farve does indeed retire then I hope that ESPN would just let this dolt go quietly into the night. No Farve special, no look at his career segment, no montage of clips.

You have done this for him twice already, let him go once and for all.

What I find funny is how many Jets fans actually exist; let alone how anybody really gives a crap about the team (that includes everyone bitching about them in this thread). I always thought everyone thought of them like they were the redheaded stepchild of the Giants (like the Yankees vs the Mets) and just totally disregarded them (i.e. the whole reason for the rebrandingfollowing HBO tv program to show that they are people too:lol:). Sounds like a bandwagon is forming...

Brett Favre might actually be done this time. I guess he doesn't want his image even more wrecked than it is.
