No problemo. I'm fine with anybody changing their mind and their pick during the week, as long as I haven't locked the thread to new entries for the week (obviously). I do appreciate you both letting me know with posts in the thread. I'll be checking in on the thread periodically throughout the weeks, updating my list as the picks get posted, so as long as I get a heads up from anyone who wants to switch their pick, it should be all good.

OK, folks, the contest is now locked for Week 4.  No further entries will be allowed.  We have 45 people starting out.  I'm a little surprised at the low turnout, but then again starting something like this mid-season probably has a lot to do with that.  That only means you have better odds of winning than you would if we had hundreds of people in the running.  Next year we'll hit the ground running on Week 1.  For now, though, if you ARE in the pool, please remember to come back and make a new pick each week for as long as you stay alive in the pool!  Nothing worse than getting knocked out because you forgot to make a pick.  Anyway, here are everyone's picks for week 4.  Good luck!

One quick note:  I had originally posted that I'd be locking the pool to new picks at 8:00 p.m. EST on Saturday nights each week.  I've decided I'll close it on Sunday mornings instead.  I've edited my first two posts in the thread to reflect this change.  I set the earlier deadline to give myself plenty of time to double-check what I thought might potentially be hundreds of picks.  It's a smaller pool than I expected, so Sunday morning should work fine.  I tend to wake up early, and will be locking it first thing when I get up, though, so don't wait until the last second to get your picks in.

 
Thanks again Danimal, as a long time CAG I looked forward to Admiral's contest every year.  I'm glad there is a spiritual successor.

You're welcome! I know what you mean; I was always excited to see his thread return every year. I didn't want to step on the Admiral's toes and start one at the beginning of the season in case he was just late in getting his own up and running. I've sent him a pm to ask if he plans to do one next year. If he doesn't, I will. One way or another, we'll have a CAG Knockout pool at the start of next season. And if I'm running it, I'll make sure to have a bigger and better prize for the winner next year. :lol:

 
Sorry smackattack, I've given it some thought, but I have to hold to the entry deadline I set.  We had some upsets in the early games that knocked a few people out, and it wouldn't be fair to them to let people in later who avoided those upsets by picking their team after those games were played.

Normally, I'll be posting early Sunday morning, like I am right now, to say that the pool is closed to further entries, and then I'll post everyone's picks for the week.  I'm going to extend the deadline slightly this week because we have four people who still haven't posted a pick for the week.  Because I started this pool mid-season, I want to give the people in it every opportunity to get themselves into the habit of coming back each week to post a new pick if they're still alive in the pool.

Having participated in many of these pools myself over the years, I understand that everyone who has already made their picks would be more than happy to see their fellow CAGs get knocked out for not making a pick :lol:  I don't want to be a hardass about it, but I'm also not going to keep checking back for stragglers right up to 1:00 kickoff, either.  I sent reminder pms to the final few people a couple days ago, and I'll wait to lock it, this week only, until I get back from the gym later this morning, probably around 10:00 EST.

Sorry man, I had to lock the thread before the early games started, and i held off as long as I could. I've been away from the computer since then. I feel bad for the people getting knocked out for forgetting to post a pick, but it always happens a few times with these kind of pools.

Speaking of these kind of pools, I'll be doing this again next season, starting with Week One, so come back and give it another shot next year!
