NFL Off-season/Draft thread II - Calvin Johnson #1?
He reports so many rumors, I think he talks out of his ass some times. The other rumor is Josh McCown to Raiders for a low draft pick (which would screw the Lions position over since it would allow the Raiders to draft CJ). Of course, this is Millen running the show, what a mess.

Another rumor is the Lions drafting CJ (assuming Russel goes #1) just for the sole purpose to trade him.

See, rumors are fun.
I give more credit to the Raiders trying to get a mediocre QB to tutor someone and get CJ than to draft CJ then trade him.

Why not Moss to the Dolphins for Culpepper? Nether team wants the player they have, it could be a straight swap.

Every mock draft "expert" now has Adrian Peterson falling to the Vikings at 7. If that happens, I want my Vikes to hold that pick hostage, and milk as many extra picks as possible out of it, probably trading it to the Texans for their #10 pick, their 2nd rounder, and maybe a 4th round pick. That way, the Vikings can still take a guy like Leon Hall at 10, and have 2 second round picks to maybe land a couple wide receivers. I wouldn't mind seeing them get Jason Hill and Sidney Rice in Round 2.

Actually, forget about drafting those wide receivers. I just read that the Vikings signed Todd Lowber, a former Division 3 basketball player, who has never played organized football. But let's hear what Brad Childress has to say about him!

"Vikings coach Brad Childress said he doesn't see Lowber's lack of football background as a "handicap" and also alluded to the fact Lowber won the 2006 NCAA Division III men's high jump by clearing 7 feet. "We talk all the time about height, weight and speed," said Childress on Thursday, after donating $5,000 in Reebok products to The Salvation Army. "[Here] you're talking about a guy that's a 7-foot high jumper, that ran in the 4.3s [in the 40-yard dash] for us and demonstrated great hands."

Vikings fans, be afraid, be VERY afraid. Instead of signing actual legitimate NFL receivers, or drafting them, it looks like the Vikings would rather just have open tryouts every couple of weeks. In case you're keeping score, here are the new Vikings wide receivers so far:

Bobby Wade
Cortez Hankton
Todd Lowber

SUPERBOWL, HERE WE COME!
I'm probably the only one but I think who ever gets Zabransky on the second day is going to get a steal.
Well, you and Jared Zabransky, probably.
Well, you and Jared Zabransky, probably.
I'm not saying he will be a starter but I do think he should atleast be a pretty good backup.

Does anyone understand the rumor of Tampa trading their 4 first day picks just to move up to grab Johnson? Don't they realize that he will still be available at the 4th pick? No way the Raiders grab him as they have a core. Detroit have drafted their way out of drafting another WR (though Martz's love for Edwards does have their pick muddled). And if Thomas is still available for the Browns, I just don't see them not grabbing him as they need line help more than a QB or RB. I understand Gruden being on the hot seat but I just don't see the benafit in trading away all of their 1st day picks for someone they can grab at #4.
