they should have made freddy gay that would have made the movie scarier in alot of ways ( mainly hed ass rape you then kill you). that said the guy looked cool but i dont see why this movie needed remaking theres plenty of horror series that could do well with a remake like Killer Klowns from Outer Space or the Munchies ( or Critters). with all the ed up horror flicks out now freddy and jason cant compete. the Maniac Cop could be a cool series to bring back too.
or phantasm thats one series that would be awesome to remake and the story is creepy enough to work in this day and age. you just need to find the right guy to be the tall man because the guy from the series owned the hell out of that part. and you need plenty of creepy organ music.
That 15% on Rotten Tomatoes is keeping me from wasting money on it.
they should have made freddy gay that would have made the movie scarier in alot of ways ( mainly hed ass rape you then kill you). blah blah blah blah blah
PREACH ON, MAN!
What bothered me was the fact that they didn't do anything new with the formula. I saw the trailer and it looked like a complete rehash of the original.
Good remakes are ones where they infuse it with fresh ideas. Scarface for example is an excellent remake because they took the plot from an old Al Capone movie and changed it so that it is a Cuban gangstar. The Thing is another excellent remake because the changed the monster.

This film shows no creativity what so ever.
one of the best remakes ive ever seen was the dawn of the dead remake. i may lose zombie points for saying this but i kinda like it better than the original in ways. damn shame about that day of the dead remake.

Since when do any of these remakes show any creativity in the first place? It's more about 'reinventing' it for a new audience rather than trying to come up with something new.
I can't wait for the Warriors remake. They're supposed to be making it in LA with REAL gang members. I wonder how many murders will occur on the set between the various gangs.

That's literally been in development hell for years now. I Doubt we'll see it anytime soon (thank God).
It was shitty, McShitty. I didnt like it at all, it wasnt scary and like it has been said before didnt even try to do anything new. It is a waste of time.
I haven't seen the new Nightmare yet, but I will check it out once a good quality torrent is out. I've heard nothing, but awful things about it and would hate to contribute to the making of more of these turds by buying a ticket.
I thought the makeup was actually better on Englund, it was too easy to tell it was Haley.
That's because Robert Englund will ALWAYS be Freddy Krueger. Nothing against Haley, as a mater of fact the guys a great actor. Robert Englund really has always embodied Freddy and I personally will never be able to see anyone else as the character without it looking weird to me.

on top of that when the movie came out way back when the idea was original and fresh some creepy pedo bastard killing you in your dreams was a damn scary thought ( though now that i think about it dreamscape did come first but it was a bit diff). how can a dream boogie man compete with the shit thats out these days?
btw did freddy actually do something to some kids in this film or in the originals ? and by that i mean was he guilty of what the parents killed him for?
I had 3 people come in the comic shop sunday saying how shitty it is and not to waste my money.
Granted I expected nothing less than pure shit out of this. Come on michael bay is producing it, and when he produces a movie he always gets ex music video directors to direct them.
Texas chainsaw massacre remake, texas chainsaw the beginging, friday the 13th remake, the amityville horror remake are all produced by him and directed by old music video directors. Do you really need anyother reason why to think nightmare on elm street would be any less shitty?
Besides the original NOES was good because it was a psychological horror as much as it was a gore horror movie thats what made it so good. This is just a ing remake dumbed down in a time when kids with the attention span of a goldfish think loud noises and shit jumping out all the sudden is real horror.
Im going to see it one night late this week despite my knowledge of it sucking I still support my medium. Ill go see most crap horror because its the genre I love and there is something satisfying about seeing them in a theater.

I don't know about this one, but in the originals he most definitely was guilty. IIRC he actually created the claw to use on his victims before he was killed.
I still have to see this one, but I'll probably wait to rent it.
I don't know about anyone else but I can't stand when movies don't have the speaking sync'd to the actors mouths correctly and 90% of Freddys words were not sync'd correctly to his lips and some of the teens words also, You can almost tell the movie was ment to be pg13 and they added the blood and stuff in later, hense the extra months of shooting for the movie once the first inital test screening came back negative!
I love horror movies and I enjoyed this movie just barely but it pisses me off when Hollywood can't find movie editors for big budget films who can actually do a decent job!

wow sounds like you paid full price to see a bootleg copy at the theatre lol. if thats true about the lip syncing then damn thats really bad no movie in this day and age should have the problem especially not a film thats looking to be one of that studios next big series (already supposed to e getting a sequel ready).
He obviously watched a cam.
CONGRATZ
Negative I seen it on release day at AMC Deer Valley 30 theater in Phoenix AZ, Gotta support all R rated horror in the thearter in my opinion so we don't get stuck with a bunch of shitty pg13 horror movies
I'm sure it wasn't the theater I saw it in, as my friend seen what I mentioned about the film at a differnt theater
I enjoyed it for what it was. The movie had a cool look to it, and it was relatively faithful to the source. It does nothing new though, and I wouldn't exactly say it's "scary." I actually enjoyed it more than most of the other horror remakes, with the exception of Rob Zombie's first stab (no pun intedned) at the Halloween.
The original has moments that still trip me out a bit, the remake had none.
