Supposedly the cards are in some B&M stores. I sure as heck don't intend to put my credit card on my 3DS. Not after the fiascos that have been rolling around lately.
Hah, not going to give them my money. Just going to get the free game and that's it for now.
Same.

There are cards in stores right now. I got one from Best Buy, back when I was going to blitz the hell out of the MML3 demo. But then that got delayed and I can't gift to people.

So that plan got destroyed. I can't think of anything else I'm terribly interested in unless Zelda DX shows up, since I honestly can't think of many GB games I'm interested in. GB was a nice system but a LOT of the stuff on it is badly archaic. Final Fantasy Legend (aka Seiken Densetsu 1 aka Secret of Mana 1) would be a nice grab. They really ought to get on the ball and release GBA games, because there's absolutely no reason that can't be allowed.

Like most here, I'm old enough to have played Super Mario Land when it debuted on the GB. It was fun as hell back in the day, albeit a weird Mario title (Mario flying an airplane?). I can't imagine it holds up well.

Mario land was a fun game, I thought it was kind of easy. But I'm sure 6 golden coins holds up better and the game I'm waiting to pick up.

I'm with you guys. There's not much on the original GB I'm interested in. There's some GBC games I might go for, but GB? I went straight to the GBC as a teenager and never played any GB games. Just didn't want to go black and white.
All this talk about how are you going to buy stuff from the store....cant you just use regular nintendo point cards?
The new eShop doesn't support Nintendo Points. They have their own form of currency in the form of cash cards. $20 card you buy puts $20 on the system, so we hear. No word on game values.

Well that kinda sucks....thanks for the quick response though :)

Holy hell! Maybe more people are using these things than I thought. I took my 3DS out again today when I ran around to BBV stores (getting the 75% off merchandise like LBP2 plush, etc). I also visited one Gamestop and 2 Targets. I just checked and I have THREE Streetpass hits. That is the max, correct? So there could have been even more that I missed.

I was at one Gamestop and 2 Targets. One may very well have been from a demo unit as the recently used game was Street Fighter IV Demo version. The other two were Face Raiders and White Knuckles (the 3D video). So I'm pretty sure those were other users. I was out during middle of the school day so there wouldn't have been many (if any at all) kids with their 3DS's out.

Clear something up for me. As I understand it, if you don't get them right away and use them in Find Mii, etc, then you can't use them at all, right? Or can you save them for later to use in that? I thought someone said they had to be used immediately.

No problem. I'm stalking this board tonight to see if the eShop goes live.

Right. If you exit out of the Mii Plaza without using your new Miis for Find Mii and Puzzle Swap, you won't be able to use them later.

That I'd definitely pick up. 6 Golden Coins was a classic.

So, I love the 3DS and all, but I can't deny that Sony just stepped up by price-matching the Vita and 3DS.

It won't be instantaneous, obviously, but I'll be slightly less than happy if Nintendo drops the 3DS price before the Vita is released. You usually get a nice locked in buffer zone with Nintendo price, and I'm curious if this'll buck the trend.

Nintendo needs a massive price drop on the 3DS right now since the 3DS simply isn't worth the cash especially with Vita launching at the same price. Of course I know both consoles will fly off the shelves this holiday season regardless since consumers will buy anything. Zelda bundle would be good right about now or at least for the holidays!

If I buy one of the 2 it will come down to what games are available at the time I decide to purchase. I already have an iPod touch so I will be buying this mainly for the games if I do. I will probably hold off on both of them since really, I am satisfied with what I have right now.

I still can't see 3D on the 3DS, I tried it again over the weekend, the only thing it does is look like a double image and when I use the slider it looks like it is just stretching the image in and out. This was a person's 3DS not a demo unit so I was able to sit down with it at a table and try to see it. The last time I played it all I saw was wavy lines (again I didn't use a demo unit either that time).

Sorry, Nintendo is too busy getting F'd in the A by the PSV pricing announcement to put up the store... please try again tomorrow.

... but really... I want my excitebike... NAO NOA!

Monster Hunter + PSVita = Sony win. Seriously... I think $249 blew EVERYONE away. Everyone was expecting $299 for wifi and $349 for 3G, but not the case :D

Nintendo is killing me. They might as well said this update was on June 7th. Its already 10:45pm here in the east, and June 6th is now 96% over. Between this and its pretty much Failboat SS.

They need to announce more games. Uncharted at launch would be amazing, but what else is there? Long ass list of devs signing on, but nothing really for US. So many Japanese devs, and who knows when their titles will be done.

On the other hand... I don't know how much longer I want to keep my 3DS. Hoping tomorrow makes me happy, b/c right now I'm not.

Can't wait to see what Nintendo has up their sleeves for tomorrow. Anyone else think some emergency powerpoint slides being put in about a price drop/bundle? Can't see them maintaining the same price as the PSV. I'll get both eventually, but the feature set of the PSV is definitely more worthy of that price point imho.

I think Nintendo and I have differing definitions of 'evening'.

This is sort of not awesome, since I managed to be excited about something that, in reality, isn't all that exciting. My enthusiasm is quickly ebbing away.

Pokemon. That is all Nintendo needs to release to compete with Monster Hunter, which doesn't even sell very well in the U.S. to begin with. I'm pleasantly surprised by the $250.00 price for Vita, I was expecting at least $400.00. I'll be buying it on day one most likely, I want a new Metal Gear Acid game on launch kthx?

I guess Nintendo is saving the eShop for tomorrow?

*sigh* I guess I'm off to bed. Been up since 3:30 a.m. for work, and I stayed up hoping for this update. I'm sure the update will go live as soon as I go to bed.

Update? What update?

Besides the notion of the "update" itself... what exactly are you staying up for that's worth it? Is the free Excitebike really worth the fatigue?

Utopian is one of the bigger 3DS enthusiasts on this board, so I would say you hit it right on the nose.

But really.. it was originally promised for launch, then delayed until May, then delayed until June 6th, and now delayed until...? We're all just curious.

You'd think they would want to hold their promise today since sony just announced a much better equipped console that surprisingly has the same price tag. (not trying to troll... trolled anyway).

According to Wikipedia, evening is the period between the late afternoon and night when daylight is decreasing, around dinner time. Pretty sure this isn't it. Frigging Nintendo.
It's 11:50pm EST.

What. the. hell. Nintendo?
It's 8:55pm in the West coast. Still got three hours to go before I start yelling incomprehensibly about expectations and promises that were made.

Blow it out your ear, booknerd!

Seriously Nintendo, this is just...disappointing. I'm not mad, I'm just...disappointed. Amateur hour shenaniganry.

I mean unless there's secret stuff being prepped, it's just sad. Like, "Voltron Ability now enabled, press A + R to activate 3DS Sentry Death Mode."

I have to imagine they'd build it off the existing shop platforms they have. Maybe they aren't and are doing it from the ground up, which would make sense since that would allow it to take advantage of the more advanced online features the 3DS can allow, and would also account for why they REMOVED THE GIFTING OPTION, WTF, but still.

Kids in their bedrooms have put together amazing shit BY THEMSELVES over the course of a few weeks. I'd like to think a company the size of Nintendo would have a bunch of people working nonstop to get this up and running, instead of (what feels like) two college stoners working on it in between naps and Scooby snacks.

Wow, even Sony did not diisapoint me like this. I was able to download 4 free games from them from 2 accounts, but this, I paid MSRP for the 3DS.

Where is my update Nintendo? You can't even bring out decent launch games and not you are denying me playing a 20 year old GB game?

Fortunately my excitement about the Sony Vita pricing is keeping me distracted about Nintendo's slow fail on their store and this update. Given Sony's announcement, I think a price drop on the 3DS is probably a lot closer on the horizon than it was prior to today.

Now Nintendo needs to focus on getting the 3DS into as many hands as possible prior to the Vita launch. Of course, still no outstanding games for the 3DS yet. But since the 3D feature has to be optional, they really just need to deliver on rock solid DS games that look great on the 3DS but stand out on their own too.

The episode of KOTH with Pro-Pain is on. Maybe that's going to be a launch game.

I'm going to beat all your asses with my pimp cup.
