Nintendo 3DS - General Discussion Thread

I take it you mean Link's Awakening, Utopian? All signs are pointing to a release of that at launch, though I'm not an 8 ball so don't take my word on it
I'm...I'm playing Fossil Fighters. It's not 3D. I don't fit in. I should be battling with jiggly boobs apparently.
It's okay; I'm playing Professor Layton. :)

I could only pray. Nintendo has this idea of fucking trolling me (It's been how many years and no pilotwings 64 on the VC ).

Yeah, so anyway I hope some great stuff comes on the shop because I will be buying it up :D.

Hah - I have yet to get a StreetPass hit and probably never will. I mean, someone would have to walk by my house with one and I'm not even sure that would work with the weak Wifi these things have (if it is anything like the older DS's that is).

I've been playing SMT Strange Journey on the DSi I finally decided to start using (been using my DS Lite and ignoring the DSi I bought at launch). Yeah, I'm slow on the upgrades. I guess it is a bit nicer than the DS Lite, but whatever.

I finally just unplugged my 3DS and turned it off completely (was leaving it in standby mode in the cradle before). But since I can't even play the Find Mii game without shaking the damn thing to generate coins, I don't see the point. I will play it when OoT comes out.
Fight, fight, fight....what next 3DS game do I buy? BlazBlue....another fighting game...out on the 31st...fight, fight, fight...ohhh, it's getting tedious here...

I wanted to get LEGO Pirates 3DS but from what I've read, it got trimmed down...so no thanks. Looks like Zelda would be my first 3DS game outside the fighting genre....oh, wait...maybe something via the eShop before that...we'll see.

Blah, blah, blah....have a good Memorial Day, everyone!
Completely the same boat here. Biohazard the mercs will be a good change of pace though.

Signal is actually quite good in my experience. I don't know what the max distance is but you'll defintely pick someone up that way, even a bit further away.

The XStylus is an ingenious idea! I was recently at a 3DS streetpass event and a prototype of this stylus was a prize for one of the tournaments held there. Its amazingly simple concept and design fits into all DS consoles EXCEPT the original "DS phat". This is great for people who need the comfort and control of a larger stylus, without the bulk of one.

Each set of 4 styluses comes in special edition color combos that will not be available anywhere else. As a BONUS each set will include an additional crystal stylus! The price per stylus decreases depending on which package you purchase here.

The more people that pre-order, the faster it will be produced and into our hands. Pre-order ends on June 4, 2011...don't miss it!

Note: This is not a referral or reward link and I am not affiliated with the website, product, creator or producer in any way. I'm just trying to spread the word on a great deal for a unique accessory.

It's neat, but I'm just fine with the stylus size. But then, I'm a girl, and therefore, my hands are smaller.

Edit: I have to admit, though, that the above product solves the problem I have with large styli. Typically, they're just too big to carry around. A sort of collapsible design is perfect.

Yeah I hear ya. This is great for people with larger hands or people who are otherwise uncomfortable using the stock stylus. Plus they say it gives you better/more control.

I donated to the Xstylus. Holding my fingers that close together gets uncomfortable after a while. I think the design is pretty great overall - a larger stylus I can rest against the back of my hand, wider grip, and it all fits in the existing case.

It just made it past the $7850 mark on Indiegogo, which means that donators now get a fourth fifth stylus on top of the three four included with the $15 donation. So I'm looking forward to that.

I did get the CM4 Catalyst system cover, and I'll have to write some thoughts about it a little later. There's an issue I'm trying to solve first.

I think I'm going to bite on the half price ZAGG shield. Thanks for the heads up PrinnyOtaku.

Actually, you get a total of 5 styluses. Quote from the site: "Each pack will come with 4 XStylus Crayons (of limited edition color combo) AND 1 XStylus Crystal."

Would like to hear what you think of the CM4 cover, I'm thinking of getting it too and I hear a lot of good things about it.

ZAGG shields are great protection and I used them for years but I always hated the "orange peel" look and feel of them. Plus, I think they are too thick for touchscreens. There's a lot of drag and you have to push harder than usual for it to register. I use Best Skins Ever now. SAME protection as ZAGG but smoother, thinner and a fraction of the price. ;)

Five stylii, eh? Neat. Even better, since I'm guessing I'll be giving a few of them away to help spread the word.

Thanks for the heads up on the BSE. Given the price and your recommendation, I think I'll just go with that.

Again, I'll give some thoughts about the CM4 case a little later; there's a minor hold up I might have to explain when I can.

Only drawback about BSE is that you have to make your own application solution out of soap and water, which is easy enough (BSE application instructions). ZAGG comes with a small vial of application solution but sometimes it's not enough to apply the skin.

Also, the ZAGG application solution is the SAME formula as BSE. I confirmed this when I had to call ZAGG after I ran out of the few drops of solution they provide. The customer service rep just went ahead and told me how to make it out of soap and water (same as BSE). Plus ZAGG has the nerve to sell these small bottles of solution separately for $1 each!

I agree about it being fine for me (but I'm a guy =P). I would give if it was cheaper. Neat idea though!

I know it's early in the day but has anyone obtained a copy of BlazBlue Continuum Shift II 3DS today (or a shipping confirmation e-mail from an online retailer)? To my surprise, online retailers like Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, etc show "Out of Stock." Toys R Us doesn't seem to carry it at all (not listed on their site). What's up? Delayed? Or did Aksys do a small initial run on purpose (again)? Just wondering.

Since Blazblue has always pulled the same crap as NISA IE "The date listed is a vague claim of when it will be release. In theory you can find them, but most places are just shipping.". I happened to preorder from Gamestop and they were saying Ill have a copy come tomorrow. This location was middlebelt/grand river

About that bigger Stylus, I find the whole concept odd. I never liked when they went to the bigger ones in the DS Lite and newer models. I liked the original one just fine.

Of course you wouldn't, io.

So eShop comes next Monday, right? I'm surprised we have virtually no information. Which I knew what was launching with the service, how much it is, clarity about payment types and DSi transfers.

They'll turn it on @ E3 during their press conference when they're on stage, explaining how it all works :)
Very cool. Unfortunately, at the rate I get Streetpasses, it'll take forever to complete that Pokedex.
Same here. I have only gotten one street pass so far and that was in a gamestop.

I got over 120 Miis and at least 20 Street pass match with Street Fighter IV. Since it is free I am definitely going to get some streetpass for pokedex

There is a streetpass event in Buffalo NY at the Walden Galleria Mall this Sunday. Probably can't make it but I will try. I don't have a 3DS though so I would be the odd one out, but they will have games like Dragon Quest. I doubt many will show but should be at least a few (its really tough to organize an event like this, I did it once, takes weeks of planning to find a time when most people can come).

I agree that 3D is a huge gimmick. But hey, for $150 + a game, I'm happy with paying that. The system should've only cost $150 in the first place. Now if it was essentially a slightly lesser version of the NGP with 3D, that'd be a different story. I guess I'm just disappointed that this is all the 3DS is capable of. It's basically like if Nintendo didn't release their expansion pack for the N64, but instead released a whole new console with only the extra power of the expansion pack. Kind of a waste.

That happened.

I can't even.

Sorry, in the long, sad pantheon of ridiculous statements about the 3DS, that one was too above and beyond for me to not mock it *somewhere*.

I was seriously confused. I had to sit down. Which meant I had to stand up first and then sit down, a sequence of events I did execute properly, which is quite remarkable given the level of brain damage that comment no doubt dealt me.

Darn it, web page ate my message. Writing it in OpenOffice this time!

That Amazon Buy 1 Get 1 50% off thing prompted me to realize I need to spend my credit. Unfortunately, the credit seems to still just be good for launch games...

Had been thinking Rabbids in Time + Okamiden (didn't like the first one, but still kind of curious). Now I'm thinking I'll combine the two promos. Maybe Rabbids in Time + Shadow Wars for $35. Not bad!

Unfortunately, the credit seems to still just be good for launch games... Not much selection (especially considering I already have four of the launch games!) but:
-Shadow Wars-probably too hard, but theoretically I like games like this
-the weirdly named Rayman 3D...which is actually Rayman 2. This is actually the game I like most out of the launch things, probably...except I already own it on PC (GOG's selling it!) and on Playstation 2... So weird that both the DS seven years later the 3DS launched with this same game...
-Lego Star Wars? Eh, I don't like these
-Soccer? I liked the N64 Konami one pretty well, but they've probably gotten harder.
-Steel Diver? Umm...I don't know. I sort of want to try it. If it ever hits $20 or less I may.
-Super Monkey Ball? These are cute looking, but drive me nuts and kind of make me sick.
-Bust a Move? I actually wouldn't mind this too much...

Hmm...not a great selection for me. I think Shadow Wars wins by default. Worst case it's too hard, I sell it, I guess.

Already own Street Fighter, Nintendogs, Ridge Racer, and Pilot Wings

The quote is from the first page of this thread. The title of the thread alone sort of pissed me off, but that quote was just amazing.

At least by page 2 people seem to be actually correcting things.
oh god. that thread is so full of fail and so full of failures (especially on the first page.)

that "consumers are to blame for the $250 price point" thing is bullshit. Some hack mistranslated an interview and everyone picked up on the erroneous reporting.

There are like a handful of morons on CAG who just can't be taken seriously. Yet, they manage to piss everyone off.

Honestly, that's why I just posted it here instead of replying in that thread. Really wasn't worth the effort the argument would take.

'Fanboy' stuff aside, I feel like the 3DS has gotten a much larger share of derision and hate than it should, and I'm not totally sure why. I can only assume it's because of the amount of misinformation out there, since the comments are usually just ridiculously off-base. I mean, honestly, when I see things comparing it to the N64 Expansion Pack, that it should only cost $125, or that it's simply a 3D DS, I just can't help but shake my head.

I don't know, I think it just bothers me because I really and truly like the 3DS as a system. Having picked up on launch day, there hasn't been a moment where I regretted the purchase. It's not a perfect system by any means, and I can certainly take issue with the battery life, the lack of a second stick, the camera clarity, and the pricetag, but there are a lot of things that Nintendo did right here. The fact, too, that in a launch window with very meager offerings I managed to pick up 4 games that I honestly really enjoyed is a pretty good sign. DoA coming out recently, for me, is the first game that I think truly showcases the capabilities of the 3DS... honestly, if I want to show people the graphical difference between the DS and 3DS, DoA is easily my go-to game now.

Sorry for the semi-rant, but after seeing threads and comments like that pop up everywhere, I just needed to get my thoughts down somewhere.

One quick final note, too... if you're only buying a 3DS *because* of the 3D, you're doing it wrong. As ridiculous as this sounds, I hate that the 3D has become the biggest talking point with this system, because it's far from the best reason to own one.

Nice to see some details about the eShop. I wonder how much more is in store for E3. Also, since it was in question here, it's worth mentioning that the DSi points can't be used on the 3DS. Certain games and all save files can't be transfered either unfortunately.

Wolfpup, you might as well wait. No need to force yourself to enjoy a game. E3 is less than a week away and the eShop launch is even sooner.

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/sy...res&submenu=ctr-gi-apps-dsiware-wont-transfer
What DSiWare games can be transferred to the Nintendo 3DS?

The functionality to transfer DSiWare from a Nintendo DSi to a Nintendo 3DS will become available through an update planned for the evening of June 6 Pacific time. All DSiWare games currently available will be able to transfer with the following exceptions:
Art Academy First Semester
Art Academy Second Semester
Asphalt IV
Crash-Course Domo
Earthworm Jim
Flipnote Studio
Hard-Hat Domo
Let's Golf
Nintendo DSi Browser
Oregon Trail
Pinball Pulse: The Ancients Beckon
Pro-Putt Domo
Real Soccer 2009
Real Soccer 2010
Rock-n-Roll Domo
SUDOKU MASTER
SUDOKU SENSEI
Sudoku Student
White-Water Domo

Good deal on the DSi Front. I'll have to spend my remaining points tonight.

Little surprised about Earthword Jim, but I wonder if the listed applications are due to the dev teams not being willing to test against the 3DS firmware.

Yeah, but I'll have the same choice of games in a week :whistle2:/
