Nintendo 3DS - General Discussion Thread
Charged me tax and I was using a prepaid eshop card.
Meh. Thanks for the response though!

Apparently Dead or Alive Dimensions had a real game update. Does anyone even remotely know how that works because oddly enough I was never prompted about any game update. I just got my free character costumes as usual.

Hmm, where did you hear that from? Curious. No such update notice for me either.
I changed my zip code to Oregon too. I need me an eShop card. Want to play Link's Awakening for the first time and become a true gamer!
You are in for a treat. That game is incredible.

No bundle deal. Damn you, Nintendo. OoT is 9 days away, so it seems as though I'm going to have to pay full price like a sucker.
I've never played Links Awakening, would you say it's worth it for the price they have it at in the VC?
It's Zelda for ~$6, you cant beat the price. The cart costs more on eBay.
I hadn't heard of these announcements at all until you mentioned them. I actually just finished playing Fossil Fighters today and really liked it. While the game stretched a bit too long and had a wonky ending, it was full of stuff to do. The dinosaur battles were pretty fun, and the variety of dinosaurs was really great.

As for Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2, well, the first one kind of fell flat. It just didn't have any oomph to it and was nothing like the great GB/GBC predecessors. Still, I've come to love the DQ franchise more and more with the great DS games, so I'm sure I'll come into DQM:J2 a bit more enamored that with the previous entry.
You can find these announcements on the Nintendo Channel on the Wii system, that is where I found them. It seems that these were overlooked in favor of all the mario releases, but these are the games I actually want to play. There were a couple more good announcements too.

I thought Fossil Fighters was a little childish, but I really don't care about that (just saying it might be for other people), so I am willing to play a sequel. I bought the original Fossil Fighters for like $10 and got a lot of hours out of it so it was a good value, however I wouldn't pay full price for the sequel since it will just drop in price like the first one did.

Oh, I see...it's actually the 3DS system update. Some DOAD gamers mentioned seeing some improvements after that system update.

At least one site is causing some confusion....implying there's a separate update from Tecmo but it's actually the system update given its 50mb size.
The 3D was rather weak in that trailer, unimpressed.
Yeah, it seemed everything that was that was blue screen was in the background and the actors were cut and pasted into the 3D. It seemed like South Park - Green Latern 3D Edition

On further note, does anyone know how to trade pokemon over the wifi w/ friends on the pokedex?

I have 151 using this method here:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/632535-pokedex-3d/59386256

but am missing

8. I scanned all of them and got 151, how do I get the last few?
- You're most likely missing these, you can get these by trading with friends. And most likely in the future, from Nintendo.
•The other 4 elemental monkeys (you should have got the Pan- and Simi- of just one type)
•The other gender of Unfezant
•The other 3 seasons of Deerling/Sawbuck
•The other gender of Frillish/Jellicent

anyone with a 2nd 3DS can get all 164 with this method:

Oh wow. the 3DS update fixed the color issue for DS games.
I was a huge critic of that before.

Tried it out for myself, side by side, same screens, it's pretty much dead on now.
The fuzziness from upscaling seems slightly improved but that could be placebo effect.

So playing in 1:1 mode is pretty much perfect now.

There was a story about that on GN, dallow. I'll take your word for it that the guy wasn't making it up, cheeky hipster elitist that you are.
My 3DS, or as I like to call it, my portable Ocarina of Time player, shipped from Amazon Warehouse. Hopefully I can still get in on the free Excitebike download.
Yea...It will be free thru July 7th I believe it is. going from memory here.

Nintendo is so behind in their online services... Every single goddamn video shows up in the download list as a "purchase." Gonna be so annoying sifting through everything in a couple months if they keep releasing more and more videos. WHY?

I'd give it time. It's not even a week since the system update/eShop. Things should settle down in that department after some real consumer feedback, I'd think.

At least the upcoming video service (the content you get via SpotPass rather than eShop) would keep things fresh on a daily basis via automatic swapping. Such content can't be saved. Something for us to check out on a daily basis.

Is that also how long people have to link their 3DS E Shop account to their Nintendo account for coins?

I can only find the words "Limited-Time Offer" and there's no specific deadline date... Couldn't find it. Try to contact Nintendo Support and see if they can provide us the answer.

It's funny you mentioned that. The other day, right after I downloaded the update, I put a DS game in my DSi then switched it to my 3DS. I was surprised to not notice any real difference in picture quality.

I remember thinking Pokemon Black seemed awful fuzzyish. I'll have to test that one again.

If it was any company besides Nintendo, I'd agree with you but lol. I remain skeptical. My PSN download list has 200+ items on it now.

I use my old main account to download all demos and free content because it clogs up what I actually paid for so badly.

I have a really quick question, I'm looking to upgrade my SD card to something a bit bigger (16GB-32GB) just so I have everything on that one card. How would I transfer all of my saves and stuff onto my new SD card? Would I need to get another 3DS or can I just drag and drop folders?

Also for the 3DS eShop, are purchases stored in a history? Would I be able to redownload something if I accidently deleted it?
OoT is really tempting me to get a 3DS. Must...resist...
Funny, because my 3DS is really tempting me to get Oot ;). I have yet to buy a game for the system and while I am not overly excited for OoT, I figure it is probably worth playing so I can at least play something on the system for once!

Is the 3DS virtual console only going to include portable games, or are there plans to bring over the Wii virtual console library too?

I ask because I'd really like to play some games like Castlevanias 1-4, Super Metroid, etc., and I'm not sure whether to go for a Wii at this point in its lifecycle or not.

Nintendo has talked about and shown footage from NES games in the 3D Classics line. Miyamoto has mentioned wanting to see the SNES Zelda, Link to the Past included in the 3d line. Hopefully, they'll bring out a bunch of NES/SNES games as 3D Classics...

Not sure about your first question, but you can re-download stuff if you've deleted it. You can either look it up in your download history or just look up the game right from the shop and it gives you the option of re-downloading.

There is a separate section for videos in the eShop, but it hasn't been used yet. In the main section, go left to "Recent Arrivals". You'll see options for software and videos. The video section is empty though with all the trailers placed as software. The Nintendo Video update may be thing to change this. Also, where do you find the download history?

What? My only issue was that videos count as "purchases" so everything shows up on the same stupid download history list.

History is under Menu > Settings/Other -> Account Activity or Your Downloads.

Two sections with pretty much the exact same info. Even a receipt for trailer purchases. Hell yeah!
Gamestop is having a Zelda preview event on Saturday, June 18. Says that people will be able to buy the game a day early. Still think I'll wait on Kmart to get that $15 coupon...
Is that coupon online or newspaper circulation?

I'll look it up but if anyone has the answer please let me know.

In dead or alive dimensions are all of the free costumes still available or are they only up for a day? That would be pretty awful if everyone who buys it after the first 30 days loses out on all of that content.

I believe there are 34 costumes in total. They'll be offered again after the first 34 days so you'll have a second chance to get them all. I don't know what Tecmo Koei will do after the second run, though.

You need to sign up for free membership at K-Mart in order to get the $15 gaming coupon.

So after the first 34 days they do another 34 days of one costume per day?

Finally got my first two streetpass hits today, pretty excited! Also grabbed Super Mario Land out of the E-Store, so far it's been as good as I remembered, although without the squinting at the screen.

You can also use 10 coins to get a present in the game and most times I've gotten an outfit. So that may be another way to get all the costumes.

Lame. None close to me and now more people who can register before me for the free cd. ugh...beginning to regret my amazon purchase.

Yeah, I legitimately would have loved to have gotten ahold of the game on Saturday. I could see myself pissing away the whole afternoon and night playing it.

I'm really hoping the site is just horribly inaccurate or something. I feel like calling support tomorrow and asking if that's a possibility and if there are more locations.
