Nintendo 3DS - General Discussion Thread
I'm disappointed at no dates for Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, Luigi's Manion 2, Fire Emblem, or the new Professor Layton, though I'm hoping the million other Nintendo events has more info about them.
Tomorrow is the 3DS software conference. Hopefully then.

Well, while we didn't get firm dates, weren't both Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion announced as Fall releases? I realize that's not a clear answer, but it appears to me that those are the 'big' Fall 3DS releases, so I'd guess Luigi in October and Paper in November. That makes them far enough away from NSMB2, not on top of each other, and with a lot of shopping time before Christmas. That's just my guess, anyway.

I'm hoping Animal Crossing makes an appearance in the next conference, though I'm worried it's been quietly pushed to 2013. I hope I'm wrong on that, though.

Fingers crossed for a surprise Layton announcement for a September release. The last two games were both late August/early September, and it's a niche enough title to release a month after NSMB2.

I'm just guessing, or hoping, anyway... I mean, NSMB2 in August, Layton in September, Luigi in October, and Paper Mario in November sounds like one hell of a Fall line-up.

I think that's exactly what is going to happen except Paper Mario will be in December and hopefully Fire Emblem comes in November.
same...3DS's button layout is too cramped for me to play for long gaming sessions. After trade in, if I have to spend more than a $100 I don't think I'll bite unless there is something to make it worth it. My 3ds is mint, I'd likely have to get a new case, and a bigger screen and more comfortable layout is kinda useless if I'm not playing it much at all.
Exactly where I'm coming from. I seriously haven't played Mario Kart 7 in a long while because doing one circuit kills my thumb. I know I've said it before but from the DS Lite to DSi to 3DS the buttons have gotten worse with each iteration.

hopefully tomorrow but some reports are saying the XL is a fake

and if they did add more stuff to it.. a 249 price point would not shock me since vita is 249

When is the 3DS press conference tomorrow? I want to watch it, but I'm going to bleep out the section on Paper Mario - I don't want to see any more!

nice was able to dump World ends for 30 so ended up paying 100 for the 3ds with abyss and trigger

now if the 3ds XL is told tomorrow and there would be a trade in where you can trade up for say 100 or less i would in a second and be like getting those last 2 games free :)

it no at least the 3ds is only 3 months old and still has a year nintendo warranty on it in mint shape

Keep us posted, man.

I never expected a 3DS redesign and I don't expect to hear about one tomorrow during the software presentation. But I guess we'll know for sure when the time comes...but it would be silly to not announce it during their primary conference, methinks.

This event could be great if Reggie was heckling Moffitt from the crowd like Statler.

Castlevania's out in Fall 2012. Look like a 2.5D God of War game with the traditional Castlevania trappings.

Luigi's Mansion will be out on the eShop alongside its retail release. A demo is supposed to be out now, though it's not in the eShop as of this writing.

Disney Epic Mickey: Castle of Illusion is out on 11/18/12.

Paper Mario: Sticker Star looked great. My favorite 3DS game of the show so far. It will also be on the eShop at launch.

Kingdom Hearts is out on 7/31 and a demo will be out soon.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 has coin challenge levels that you can share scores with friends via Street Pass. It also has full co-op with a friend for portable trolling fun.

3DS conference turned out to be a dud, great.
Luigi's Mansion will be out on the eShop alongside its retail release. A demo is supposed to be out now, though it's not in the eShop as of this writing..
They meant a trailer.

:(
Now there's supposed to be a Lego Batman 2 demo in the eShop now.

Edit: It's still not there.
It is. Mine just finished downloading.

Kind of a disappointing conference.
I didn't see it under New Releases or 3DS at E3.
Recent Arrivals --> New Software --> Lego Batman 2

Demo limited to 30 uses.

No 3DS XL.

I'm still happy that Nintendo is committed to supporting the 3DS and tons of good games coming out for it this year.

 • Theatrythem Final Fantasy
 • KH Dream Drop Distance
 • New Super Mario Bros. 2
 • Luigi's Mansion
 • Pokemon White/Black 2 even though its a DS game

It was like the Wii U event with a little bit more info on games we already knew about. The list of games they showed that were coming for the rest of the year was about 15 or so deep.

Okay.. I've only played Lego Star Wars, but I was under the assumption that the quirky acting was part of the charm. This has voice acting. Is that normal? Do the Lego HP and Pirates game have voice acting?

It's a new thing and it kind of misses the point of what people liked about the "acting" of the past games. It's supposed to take the edge off of the seriousness of some of these IPs, but real voices/acting undoes that aspect of the games.

I ended up giving up and looking at the demos section instead.

What's the difference between Recent Arrivals and Recent Releases? They almost have the same items, but the former seems to also have demos that aren't labeled as demos. The Lego Batman 2 demo is 11th on the list under RA behind the Rayman Origins demo.

That reminds me, when does Rayman Origins for the 3DS release anyways? The demo on the store says it released on June 5th...

Most definitely got that vibe. Hate the voice acting!

Excellent! My son will be excited for this.

Its new to LEGO Batman 2...LEGO Lord Of The Rings will have it too, and from the looks of the trailer, its going to be voice overs straight from the movies.

I watched the conference. Mario bros 2, Paper Mario, and Micky games look pretty good. No announcement of a redesign 3DS was disappointing. Also no Zelda. They could at least put Zelda Oracles of Seasons/Ages on the virtual console. I never played those and wouldnt mind getting them.

Fire Emblem Awakening Confirmation

Again, why not talk about it during the Conference?
all it says is Reggie just confirmed to us that Fire Emblem Awakening is coming to the United States.

never said it was for the 3ds or WHEN... Hell it could come out in 2016 on a whole new system

this entire 3e has been nothing more then a joke

You know that the game is already out in Japan, right? They're not moving it to another platform instead of just localizing it.

As the owner of 2 3DS systems (got 1 at launch, and another for my son last summer after the price drop) I am so glad there is no redesign - best non-news of E3! ;) Paper Mario looked interesting as expected - will probably pick that one up.

;)

But seriously, I hadn't even heard of this game before the posts in this thread. I'd definitely be up for that.

knowing nintendo they could :)

It got pushed to November to release alongside Rayman Legends Wii U. They seemed to imply that it's actually done, they're simply just not releasing it yet.

Which, honestly, isn't a huge loss. It's an amazing game, but if the demo was any indication, the 3DS (much as I love the damn thing) is easily the worst option to play Origins. You lose a lot of the background vibrancy, and it's too small to really get a good sense of everything. Given that it's cheap and already on basically every system, I can't see a reason to wait til November for this version.

Curses. I wanted a 3DS XL so I could buy one. The hardware revision waiting game continues...

You too Vita. (I realize that this happening is even further down the road)

Like I've been saying, it's still way too early for a 3DS redesign. They're still taking a loss and there are currently very few good reasons for them to announce anything right now. And it's a bit silly for people to be disappointed with the lack of an announcement today when Nintendo clearly emphasized yesterday that this would just be a software presentation.

That aside, I was disappointed by the lack of anything new, but I guess we have to keep in mind that Nintendo normally doesn't present a whole lot of new stuff at E3; they usually save all of the exciting stuff for the Tokyo show. Still, I'm really excited about the new Scribblenauts. That alone made Nintendo's presentation worthwhile. And I know everyone thinks it looks stupid, but I actually think NintendoLand will be a fun game to play whenever we have company.

I was told early next year by my source.
