Nintendo just out if the blue sent me an email with a code for some in game items in xenoblade 2, that's pretty cool of them!
They sent me an early access code to Arena of Valor out of the blue. Cool that they are actively doing things like this.

Anyone play paper wars? Any good?

Yup, gonna get D3 from Best Buy. Shame it's launching at $60, when it was $40 at launch for the PS4/XB1 versions. Granted, the port was already done for the release years ago and so it was more of a repackaging, but yeah.

The Jaguar was marketed as 64-bit, and it wasn't. That's a lot of what marketing is. The Motorola 68000 is a 16-bit CPU. The X68000 used it, the Genesis used it, the Neo Geo used it, etc. The Genesis had the Zylog Z80 co-processor as well. The architecture was very similar. The Neo Geo just didn't cut any corners, including cart size, which is why it looks so much better.
Yeah the games were over $100 each while the competition was $50 back then & they were all carts so that wasn't an excuse to increase price like current environment. There was no choice but to accept the advertisement & magazine articles as fact back then with no internet, unless you knew someone who knew someone who worked for XYZ.

I would obviously love for D3 to be $40 on Switch, but it does make some sense that they decided to have it be $60. As you sort of pointed out, I’m sure it took some measurable amount of Blizzard to get the game running on Switch, especially with how well ithe game is apparently Running. But most importantly, they are putting the entire game on the physical cart (close to 14GB I seem to recall), so they’re having to use the more expensive card, as opposed to someone like Capcom, which uses the smallest & cheapest cart they can get away with and forcing the user to download the rest of the game on their microSD card. I would have loved to seem them give a $10 discount on the digital eShop version, but we only see the price disparity when it comes to limited run indie games being less digitally than physically.

Again, I hate to sound like I’m defending Activition, but at least at this price they aren’t going with a 2GB cart and making the user download the rest of the game and filling up there microSD. This puts me in a pickle, as I greatly prefer buying games digitally, but I’m also filling up my 128GB microSD card, and I also still have Best Buy’s GCU and a reward cert, so I could pre-order it right now for $45. I also have a tendency to trade in my physical games too quickly when I find a good trade in deal, so I don’t trust myself to not do that with D3. Decisions, decisions!

I'm pretty sure Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Ultimate Evil Edition was $60 when it released on PS4/XB1 and the Eternal Collection that has the Necromancer DLC in it is the current $60 edition of the game.

I just posted this in the other "bash Blizzard/Nintendo/Diablo 3" thread...

It was $39.99 at launch as a "special introductory price" and was raised to $60 very shortly after.

Kinda want to say a week or two after launch it was at $60

I can’t figure out what triggered the email though. I’ve redeemed points from Xenoblade on both of my Nintendo accounts. I only got one code. I’ve only played it on the account that didn’t get a code.

That's the Eternal Collection, not the original launch PS4/XB1 version I was talking about. As for the Eternal Collection, that launched alongside the Mid-Year Sale last year with the PS3 version being on sale, so they gave it a launch discount to take advantage of the big sale.

I got my code e-mail right when I did the XC2 2.0.0 software update on my Switch.

yeah read that wrong.. whoops.

but yeah it did also drop at $60 cause there was a lot of complaining that it was "twice" the price of the $40 PS3 copy..

https://blog.eu.playstation.com/2014/08/07/everything-need-know-diablo-iii-reaper-souls-ultimate-evil-edition/

Scroll down for the comments, sounds awfully familiar to the current Switch complaints ;)
I was actually talking about the Eternal Collection that launched at $40 for PS4/XB1, but yes, I can see it was an introductory price (although I've actually seen it at $40 for a much longer period than just two weeks). It's also going for $25 new today at GameStop (which lists the "normal" price as $40, FWIW).

yeah its odd, the digital copy has always been $60 (excluding the first week and any sale price) and the physical copy that just came out, I always thought it came out alongside the digital, is $40..

I bought my PS4 copy digital way back at launch cause I knew id spend 100's of hours in game (i have)

BB finally allows pre-orders for the Switch, so I had waited to spend my rewards points and along with GCU paid $26 for the game.

So Now I have Diablo 3 on everything... PC from Day 1, PS3/PS4 also day 1, Xbox I grabbed it for cheap on sale also had a card that was going to expire so i had to use it.. and now Switch.

So apparently this went out to anyone who bought the game digitally, or physical game card users who "claimed" their MyNintendo gold coins from the Switch Home screen.

I didn't even know about claiming gold coins on physical purchases (I'm sure I heard about it, but it didn't register). Anyone heard if you'll get the email still if you do it after-the-fact?

Not sure, but the stuff you get isn’t exactly anything to write home about if you are many hours in...

“This will get you access to 15 Legendary Core Crystals, 3 Char-Grilled Grumbirds, 3 Crispy Blendshakes, and 3 Clicky-Clicks”

Love that so many simulation/management games are coming to the Switch, but what's the best one right now? I already have Cities: Skylines for the PC and while I could double-dip, the game to me is unplayable without a ton of mods (plus, performance takes a big hit as I've gotten closer to 80,000 population). I heard that bugs in Prison Architect will never be addressed, but they're not game-breaking. Any other suggestions?

Thanks. I just got to Chapter 4, so the core crystals sound great to me, but I'll trust they would become less impactful as I move along.

Every time I see someone mention D3, I get excited thinking someone finally made a sequel to the Dreamcast game D2 and then sigh.

Thanks, Frisky! I think I vaguely recalled that, but thought it was like Japan only.
Last rumors/conjecture I saw was that we might learn a date or at least a timeframe at TGS. Which is this upcoming weekend, I think. So good timing on asking :)

Every time I see someone mention D3, I get excited thinking someone finally made a sequel to the Dreamcast game D2 and then sigh.
Kenji Eno, the guy behind all three games (D, Enemy Zero, & D2) died back in 2013 at the age of 42. D2 was a fantastic game and one of my all time favorites (and yes, I finished it). I loved that game enough to import the DC version of Real Sound which came with a demo disc for D2.

So, let go of any thought you may have for a possible fourth game in the series. Without Kenji Eno it wouldn't be a real continuation for series let alone for the virtual actor Laura Lewis featured in each game.

Is anyone on CAG putting together a family group for the Nintendo Online Service? I just want the ability to backup saves to the cloud, since I play 95% portable and risk damage/lost. $20 isn't that much, but if others are looking to split the cost of a family plan, I'd be interested. Thanks.

You might want wait a few weeks before jumping into a family plan with CAG people. It is still pretty unclear how it works. I think it is kind of risky having your account tied to others. Let's say someone on the group hacks their Switch to exploit something... and Nintendo deletes/bans the whole family. It isn't that hard to imagine.

Nintendo may also have some fine print that makes strangers family-ing up a pain in the ass.

It is also hard to gauge from the FAQ if you are able to go from a family plan to an individual plan. It only talks about individual to family.

The save back ups confuse me. Obviously if you're still actively playing you don't want to lose progress, but how many games can that really be? Or is it more just hoarding old save files so you can look at them and go "yup, I played this game"?

I want to back up my saves (especially Xenoblade and Zelda).... but I'm actually pretty stoked for the NES games.
I think River City Ransom is the only game I'm excited for. SMB3 is always good to have around, in case of emergencies.

Wait until someone steals your switch... then you'll understand. I lost a f*ck ton of hours of Zelda when that happened to me.

For me, i want my saves while I'm playing the games. 160+ hours into Xenoblade 2... I would like to keep this save as long as possible since the game still has things to do that I haven't finished. Maybe in 5 years I won't care about that save. Mario Odyssey, probably a year from now I'll be fine wiping the save and starting fresh. I don't mind starting games fresh, but losing saves (though that has yet to happen to me with the switch) would be a nightmare.

I 'm looking forward to those as well. Solomon's Key is one game I love to replay from time to time and what I'm looking forward too most (since there's no Castlevania 1/2/3 yet). I'm pretty interested in replaying Ninja Gaiden, Gradius, Twin Bee, Mighty Bomb Jack, Metroid, Legend of Zelda, and Adventures of Lolo as well. I could have some fun with NES Open Tournament Golf and Super Dodge Ball with friends/family. I was never into Tecmo Bowl or many of the other sports games but I'd give everything at least a single play just for the fun of it.

I still care about my original PlayStation saves, even though I'm never going to go back to them. I still have FF7 saves from just before the date scene for three different potential dates!

I agree, but the abilty to back up the save *locally* is what really annoys me.
Backup? Money please.

Only console that requires payment. N still dead last in that dept. getting better, but still last.

I could care less about the saves, added bonus, I'm excited about all the games with online capability and discounts etc. that comes with it.  $20 is a steal especially with the price that subscription gaming services run today.  If you can't pull $20 a year, downgrade your mac & cheese brand, skip a soda purchase a month, turn up the thermostat for like 2 hours a month or down depending on time of year.  This cost is so easy to shave off the monthly it's not even funny.  Hell so is plus and live for a year at about $5.
