MM Legacy 1 & 2 came out much later on Switch than other systems, which would warrant a price discrepancy. Also, it’s Capcom that should have been addressed to “get bent”.

You are giving the good name of Waluigi a bad name!

So in the past I was buying eshop codes at 15-20% off. I am thinking that I shouldn't be doing that now seeing that a lot of games can be had at the mexican eshop for a higher discount. Are there any downsides to getting games from foreign eshops? Like do I need multiple user ids or something?

You will need multiple accounts if you want to keep any "eshop bucks" on the account.

You just create it right on your switch and associate it with an email, and everything you download works for all users on the Switch.

Otherwise you can simply change your region location on your account.

BE WARNED :

IF YOU HAVE ANY "ESHOP BUCKS" ON YOUR ACCOUNT AND YOU CHANGE YOUR REGION, THE MONEY WILL DISAPPEAR!

Personally, I kinda do both.

I have multiple accounts for say, Japan, Great Britain, Australia, ect...

But Mexico, and I believe Canada, both will accept a US Paypal account.

So, I have 1 Nintendo account for US, and 1 I swap back and forth between Canada and Mexico.

But if it is within $1, I definitely get it on the US account. I want to support the US shop to have them bring the games I like to here, but at half off, that is hard to pass up.That, and it seems that the charge to my account from the Mexico eshop so far is about 25 cents or so higher than the current conversion rate for a $7-$8 transaction.

I have not had a reason to try my Paypal account on any of my other country accounts yet, but if you use a Credit Card, it is up to your bank as to whether or not they will honor it, or flag it as suspicions activity (due to an out of country/overseas transaction) and block the card.

I have a little eshop bucks left on my GBP account and will see if i can use my Paypal when those run out, or If I see something I want in the other countries.

I really need to make a South Africa account. They seem to be high on the list of having the best discounts recently.

Pro Tips! :

If you have an Android phone/device, I HIGHLY recommend the following apps :

Switch Save Money - good to see prices in other countries and compare

Switch eShop - good to see prices in other countries and compare

Switch List - an actual very good database to keep track of what you have and a good list of upcoming. I also recommend the podcast that the site is affiliated with as well. Switch RPG has made it into my weekly rotation of podcasts, but CAGCast is always #1.

Do we know for sure how the online services will interact with multiple profiles/accounts?  i.e. will it work like Xbox where no matter which account bought a game, any account on that console can play it online as long as the purchaser marked it as their "home console"... or will Account 1 need an online subscription if you want to play the games account 1 bought, and account 2 need an online subscription if you want to play the games account 2 bought?

For single player stuff it wouldn't matter, but for multiplayer stuff it would be potentially troublesome.

Edit: and because I haven't known the answer to this question, I've been sticking with 1 account, switching between regions as needed.

https://www.nintendo.com/switch/online-service/faq/

Q: If someone buys an individual membership, can other users on the same Nintendo Switch system use that Nintendo Switch Online membership?

A: Individual memberships can only be used by the Nintendo Account holder who purchased the membership.

However, you can share the Nintendo Switch Online features across all the Nintendo Accounts in a family group by purchasing a family membership.

Any chance with both PS and Xbox Stores having the Bandai Namco sales, would the eShop have the same for the Xenoverse 2 DLC?

Sigi: A Fart for Melusina.  What a title.  Just watched the trailer, there was only one fart at the end, heh.  Finally giving my daughter her birthday present (a Switch) this weekend.  I've had it for a couple months, buying digital games as they go on sale.

The biggest downside is it hurts the devs and will eventually hurt the residents of the nations that you’re changing your region to.

When the devs get tired of people abusing this they will raise the prices to points where people who live in these countries can no longer afford to buy them. I’m not being the moral police here, just pointing it out. Let your conscience be your guide.

Ughhh... I might have to buy 10 neo geo games.
Please don’t do that lol. Metal Slug, Samurai Showdown, and maybe King of Monsters. The other games are poor version compared to their later releases. Better KOF game is 98, Better Art of Fighting game is 2 and 3(first one is brutally hard), Fatl Fury 3 is great and one of my faves, King of Monsters 2 is way better IMO. They’re most likely putting these versions on sale because they aren’t sell the same as their sequels. Plus also keep in mind that King of Fighters was SNK’s version of super Smash Bros, included a lot of their Art of Fighting and Fatal Fury rosters. Hope this helps my fellow switch owners make a smart purchase

The Mega Man 11 Demo is up on the eShop for those who were not aware. Only has one boss level, but still good Mega Man fun.

You must be psychic! Those are the only three I have purchased so far. Thanks for the info!

I second all of the above, except add in that Alpha Mission II is a good (though not one of the best best NEOGEO) shmups.

Broforce came out! I’ll have to wait for a sale on that one though, I already have it on PS4. This should be the perfect game to have on the Switch!

Not that I’ve ever seen, specifically on eShop. I keep an eagle eye, as I’d like to build my collection but have been holding out for a sale at some point. I’m pretty certain I’ve seen random NeoGeo titles from Hamster go on sale on PS4 PSN, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility that we’ll get a sale on eShop someday.
What a coinkydink.

Although I just want Baseball Stars and the two golf games. It figures they're not included.

Are the Frederick games worth buying are that price? I never played rock band, but it sounds like it could be something like historic rap battles (or whatever that was titled on YouTube)?

Also never played metal slug but haven't seen it on sale on switch before so probably gonna bite. I hate pixel art retro games that try to be 8 or 16 but, 32 bit is tolerable to me. I can't think of a game I play just for score, but I've tried so hard not to buy bleed 1 or 2 & seems this game is similar type, so since it's gotten so much praise, I'll try it & see if I like that genre.

Metal Slug is probably the best example of quality pixel art around, but it's very much a run & gun shooter, with score or distance being your main objective. If your not in to the art style, or the genre, this probably isn't going to change your mind, discount or not. I would for sure recommend more research before making the plunge, as it may not be your cup of tea. I thinks it's on of the best 2D series ever created, and probably my #1 in regards to NeoGEO games in general.

I've done lots if research on it, & planned on getting it if i ever saw it on sale, but I only recently saw it takes about 1 hour to beat. Bleed 2 takes about the same so i figured i may as well get the best in the genre if I'm to ever try it, since all the research in the world hasn't helped me decide if it's something I'll like.

Regarding the look, i mentioned the 32 bit is tolerable & these games do have a look i find charming. I just absolutely cannot get immersed in games like the messenger (I'm still trying), or Octopath that seem to use the least amount of pixels possible. I love the look of games like blade strangers, bleed, iconoclasts that at least come from 32 bit consoles or aren't trying to look like NES games. I bit, but sadly don't have room for the 2 Frederic games, & not even the 100MB for this game until i play the morphite or mega man 11 demo & delete them. Thanks for the information, though, for sure.

I love the gameplay of Octopath, which is why i bought it.

Metal slug is definitely not for me as the game slows down too much, sometimes it lets me throw a grenade up, & half the time it won't (not sure if it's the slowdown causing it not to register or what), the tank controls are frustrating & i guess the ancient controls are what holds it back for me. If i could shoot diagonally, jump down off platforms, etc, i may have felt like i have more control over my deaths, but maybe that's where practice comes in. That sucks because it doesn't answer the genre question for me. Given good controls & no chugging, i would have fun, so still will have to indulge in bleed 1 or 2 or another in that realm of hi score type games eventually. Oh well, but that's why i bought it on sale, & i knew it was possible it wasn't for me. I just wanted to post my issues with it in case anyone else was in the same boat.

What does 32-bit have to do with Metal Slug? The Neo had the same CPU as the Genesis. It's very much 16-bt.

I think it has been cheaper but NewEgg has Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle physical for $29.99 with code EMCPYPX29.  Free shipping too, I think.  I'm sleepy so don't quote me on that.  Not an eshop deal but wasn't sure where to post it.

It's been at least that cheap at BB, so $24 with GCU. Still waiting for a $20 price, but then there's the DLC to consider too ...

As stated already, NeoGEO was a 16-bit system, and in all honesty, slow down in this period of gaming was a God send, as SNES/GEO games could get rather busy, and the slow down came at times when it helped to combat the masses. It's a product of that period of game making, and is a part of what made those games what they are. You honestly seem to have more issues with graphics, than anything else, so I would recommend avoiding these types of games in the future.

The PS1/Saturn where of the 32-bit type, and I can't think of any 2D games offered there, that look any better than Metal Slug, as it's all about the art style, and how well animation is shown. Heart of Darkness on the PS1 was probably one of the best 2D games offered, but that was a digital FMV type hybrid, but it did looked cool. As for more traditional 2D art, all 32-bit really added was the ability for bigger sprites and more colors. While I don't own Octopath, I find the graphics to be amazing, as Square & Enix used to offer some amazing 2D art, and this is probably the best showing from them in ages.

My son will play some retro style games(8bit/16bit), but he doesn't stick around long, and there's no harm in it. You like what you like, but you seem to be trying to force yourself to like a style you don't like, and hope the gameplay might make up for it? That will never happen. Shovel Knight, The Messenger, etc are games I always look forward to, as they look like past titles, but also offer new gameplay elements that bring them in to the modern age.

Does DLC add-on content ever go on sale by itself? I'm looking to purchase the additional characters for Pokken Tournament but I'm not in a rush and can wait for a sale if theres any possibility it will happen.

Rocket League, Fallout Shelter, and a few others have put DLC on sale. Nintendo has never done that as far as I can remember.

I’m so frustrated right now. I have a wii and fully meant to buy some classic games off of the wii shop channel like the turbo Graff games and sin and punishment and a few others, but it’s about 6 mo the too late to buy points with a credit card or wii points card? Is there no way around this? I guess I would have to buy another wii system that has points on it? I sort of doubt any of those exist at this point.

I really like the console and was considering it when available, but then I saw that Pokémon Let’s Go will most likely be pre-installed. If there’s not a cart included, that would be a big drawback in my opinion...
I find that I prefer most games digitally these days, especially on Switch. I'd jump into a lot more Splatoon 2 battles if I didn't have to switch out carts.
