Huh. It is weird they would sell Borderlands 2 and Pre-Sequel like that. While they could have sold them separately in the eShop, makes me wonder if it's to keep them in line with the other storefronts, given these are effectively complete editions.

A quick look on Steam, there isn't an actual "complete edition" of 2 and Pre-Sequel. The closest, outside of Handsome Collection, is 2 having a GotY edition, but that's missing some of the later DLC, and Pre-Sequel has a "Game + Season Pass" bundle that's basically the price of buying the two separately.

Is there no way to buy just Borderlands 2 on the eShop? I see 1 listed separately but not 2.
The Handsome collection has always been sold as a collection of Borderlands 2 and The Pre Sequel. It was the modern system update to those 2 games. Borderlands Game of the year came out last year and was a modern update of Borderlands 1. That is why you can get Borderlands 1 by itself, but not the other 2 Borderland games. I am sure it was a cost saving measure since all the work had been done to update these games already prior to the Switch versions.

2DS XL w/ Mario Kart (Black and Turquoise) back in stock at Walmart right now. Seems $99 is the new MSRP but they are hard to find. Update: also Walmart is now the exclusive seller of this model/package.

Even though we are a two switch household, I ordered one. I have missed everything on the 3DS/2DS (though I still have my DS and it's original box). I'm looking forward to some picross action.

UGH, I just bought a used regular 2ds for my kid, and it was from a local video game store so I don't want to return it (and I already have a 3ds xl and 2ds xl myself

I love the regular 2ds. I prefer it over everything else 2ds/3ds. It's so comfortable to play on even if it's more bulky to carry around.

Deadly Fighter 2 is only $.39 for anyone looking to also get Real Drift Racing for free.

Spider Solitaire is showing up as free. I figured it’s free as Baltoro gives away lots of their games if you own a specific title.

So is there a new list of games we can get free for owning a certain cheap game?

Real drift is showing .99

Ahh I do see Spider Solitaire is like 1.79 but if you look at the details it shows 100% off if you own something on that list.. Super Battle Cards is only .05 right now..

Ok, picked up Super Battle Cards, and can now get Spider Solitaire and Street Basketball for free. Wonder if there are more now I just don't see

Edit: Dug into the Real Drift Racing deal a little bit

Deadly Fighter 2    .39 (or 99% off if you own games on their list)

Gets you Real Drift Racing FREE

Allows 90% off Perseverance   .50

Gets you Blood Breed FREE

Allows 90% off:

Pet Shop Snacks (.50)

Bubble Cats Rescue (.40)

95% off

Go Fish Go (.10)

75% off

Jet Ski Rush (1.00)

They still have them as of now, so I guess that nobody has alerted SlickDeals. I bought one, half expecting it to get cancelled. My day one Black 3DS has an A button that no longer works, and a touch screen that isn't as responsive as it used to be. I was really disappointed that I could no longer play all of my DS and 3DS games. But, now that this is available, I am going to be able to play them again, and that makes me happy. I like my Switch Lite, but it really feels too fragile. And, I did really like the 3D setting, but I can give it up, just to be able to play my games again. The 3DS is probably my favorite Nintendo Handheld.

Quest for the golden duck is only 3 cents. Looks like a pac man type game. I got an error from the shop when trying to use a credit card. Says they aren't working right now. Paypal worked fine.

New 2DS XL is my favorite handheld by a mile. If you choose to mod one (which is crazy easy now) and buy a $10 ace 3DS flashcard, you can fit the entire libraries of every Nintendo handheld (as well as NES, and SNES) with just a couple of cheap micro sd cards. You can fit every NES, SNES, GB, GBC, and GBA game on a 16gb card and fit every DS game on a 128gb card. It will also emulate pretty much every 16 bit console and below, quite well. If you put GBA on the system, the games will actually run native if you inject them like virtual console.

I have a 200gb micro card in my system, and have well over 5000 retro games available. I also have roughly 100 actual 3DS games on the system too. $99 for a crazy retro powerhouse is a no brainer. I have 3 already, and still am asking myself maybe I should grab another.

My teen daughter is about to get a Switch Lite (she wants Animal Crossing, no surprise there).  We've missed all the Switch and most of the 3DS generation - what else is on sale that a teen girl would like?  The Phoenix Wright trilogy looked interesting, but I'm sure there are others.

No judgement, but I don't pirate my games. I'm a cheap ass gamer, but not that much of a cheap ass gamer. I think that the people that make games deserve to be paid for their work. I'm an actor, and people are always trying to get me to work for free, and I think that society really needs artists, and artists need to get paid. Video games are a form of art, and the world would be a lot bleaker without them. And, the people that make them have families to support. I can understand downloading super old games that aren't available anymore. But, you can still buy 3DS games in stores, and from the eShop. And, like you mentioned, you can buy older Nintendo games from the eShop on the virtual console.

My best suggestion when it comes to children, is to ask them what they want. My parents have got me many bad games over the years because sales people have convinced them, especially around Christmas time, that a garbage game is the hot new thing. There really are no girl games, or boy games, people just play games. And, everybody plays Animal Crossing. I would try to get to know your daughter more by gaming with her, and finding out the genres that she enjoys. Because, there are a lot of them. Communication with your children is the most important thing. Find out what she likes, and go from there. Our suggestions aren't going to be that helpful, because we don't know her. But, you do.

I’m certainly not going to pretend that I own every one of the retro titles on my 2DS (truth be told though, I usually only play stuff I actually have bought) however, all the 3DS games on my system are games that I bought. The really nice part of modding the system is the ability to insert a cartridge and then rip the rom file to the micro sd. This includes downloading all the updates to the game, and then ripping the updated version of the rom. I think most people are going to be really disappointed, years from now, when they try buying games from the ps3/360/3DS generations; and later find out that parts of the games are bugged or dlc is gone. Those servers won’t last forever, and having digital backups of the most up to date versions of games, and games with all their dlc is going to matter. Plus, call it entitlement if you wish, but I don’t want to buy a game 2 or even 3 times just to get some multiplayer on the DS or 3DS. Nintendo is awful with digital licenses, and the Switch is still the worst of the current systems when it comes to sharing your digital purchases.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear, because this kind of missed the point. I know what her preferences are; the real problem is my unfamiliarity with the Nintendo library - so I'll look through a big sale list and have no idea what anything is and what games are generally considered worthwhile. So I can recognize really famous stuff like Phoenix Wright and Resident Evil, but maybe there's some cool stuff in there I don't have the faintest idea about.

Yeah, once "N" reopens, I plan to try and get a refurbished NEW 2DS XL, as I used one years ago and GS, and loved it as well. While I'm one of the few who will miss "3D", the bigger screen and lighter weight can't be beat. In my older years, my eyes ain't what they used to be, and having the bigger screen, probably out weighs the changeable plates and 3D of the N3DS model. And while I have emulators on my N3DS model, a lot of those older systems don't read as well on the small screen, which is why I want the XL. I owned a few of the other XL's over the years, but thy were always to heavy for me with longer play times.

The N2DS XL really feels like the best one of all their models, which it should since it was the last one offered. I know a lot of people say it has a cheap feel, but none more so than any other "N" brand handheld, NS not included of course as that one is actually decent in the quality dept. I recently set up my Vita to run emulators, and it is by far my favorite handheld of the moment for that reason alone, as the screen is just about perfect.

CRAP!! Getting an unable to read SD card error message. Before I bought those eshop games, I checked my storage situation on my system and SD card. 1.7 left on the 8 GB card and like 800MB left on the system so I buy some games and when I exit the eshop, the system tells me it needs to update. So I update it and now I get the unable to access micro SD card message. I have turned the system off completely, taken out and put back in the SD card 3 times now and same thing every time I boot up my Switch. My PC reads the card just fine.

How can I fix this? The error messages suggests I reformat the card but I have no idea what info I put on there and if that will even work. I looked at the card on my computer but it's just a bunch of letters and numbers. I can't find my Mario Kart 8 saves on my system which means I moved them to my SD card for some reason. Do I need to save them on my comp first and then if I have to, format the sd card and then copy the files to the formatted card? I have Nintendo online so are the saves backed up in the cloud automatically? I have 100% everything in MK8 Deluxe so I don't want to lose that info.

Has anyone else had this happen? It seems like the latest update did something with the SD card communication. Any suggestions or do I have to format it and potentially lose everything that was on the card? It seems odd that an update would corrupt my SD card.

I would say no. Most of the stuff on sale is steam like smaller games that probably wouldn’t appeal to her. My daughter enjoys the Nintendo release like breath of the wild and splatoon 2. She even spent the first 40 hours on BOTW just taming horses and buying clothes so she could make it her own.

I was about to pick up a NS lite pre covid and when I tried the demo I couldn't see the damn screen. Picked up the new 2DS this weekend and it is perfect for me. Having a great time with it and scored a deal on a few games with a GS sale too. Worked out great so far. I guess where these games were designed on the older smaller versions they are way easier for me to see on this. It does cramp my hands a bit though but I only play it in short sittings anyway.

Nintendo first party stuff should be good. I recommend Mario Odyssey and Zelda Breath of the Wild. If she's a strategy geek Fire Emblem 3 Houses is good. There are a lot of indie games that are worth playing. I like Slay the Spire myself, but there is good stuff like One Step From Eden. I think if you give an idea of what types of games she likes like a category it would help. Mario and Zelda appeal to a lot of people though. If she likes Animal Crossing but wants a bit of meatier gameplay I recommend Rune Factory 4 Special. It's still one of my favorite farming/adventure games.

Well, it’s kind of a slow time for sales right now, maybe later in the month there’ll be some lesser-known stuff we can wholeheartedly recommend.

I will say, if she happens to like Persona, this could be worth a try. Much like it, the bulk of the game (in my experience) is also focused on building relationships with a very large cast of appealing characters (and cats).

Switch saves actually can't be moved to the SD card. The SD cards can only be used for game downloads. Formatting the card would just erase whatever games were located on the card, not the saves.

Before you do anything else, back the entire card up to the PC since it’s still readable.

If it still doesn’t work and no one has a better idea, format it (to fat32 format preferably) and use H2testw on it to check it before putting anything back in. At least it’s 8GB, it shouldn’t take terribly long.

I backed it up when I first checked to make sure that it was working. There is a folder called saves in it but it won't copy but the other two did. My Mario Kart 8 data is not on the switch system. I own three physical games. Breath of the wild, Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8. Breath of the wild and Mario Odyssey are on there but Mario Kart is not.

It's very strange that an update would do this to the SD card but yeah, I think I am going to have to format it. The Nintendo website says not to put the data onto the same SD card but I don't have any other card and since the card is working fine, it's obviously a problem with the switch itself. I haven't gotten any other ideas other than to back up the saves and format it. So far, I'm the only one that's had this happen after the update as far as I can tell.

Another vote for Mario odyssey. If she likes any of the 3D Mario games this is one of the best.

I dunno man. Grabbed a black and turquoise 2dsxl from Walmart last week and it feels like it’s going to fall apart compared to my launch 3dsxl which feels like a tank in comparison.

Yep, while I am glad I managed to upgrade from my launch era 3DS for a reasonable price the 2DS xl feels noticeably cheap in comparison. Specifically the wobbly top screen, it's like night and day between it and my original 3DS where the top screen feels locked in place at all times. Feel like I need to be extra careful with this 2DS xl.

Yeah, often times people associate weight with durability, but what's more likely to break, a heavy device falling to the floor or the lighter one? Who the hell knows, but feeling cheap isn't the same as being cheap. And while it feels cheap to you, I can't feel that it isn't cheap? I stated how others thought it was cheap, but I didn't, so I voiced the positive and negative from my POV along with what others had stated. Now someone can make an informed choice.

Every device they have made with a hinge has had similar complaints in regards to "wobble", as I've owned probably 5 XL models over the years(as well as standard ones), and a few felt great, while others wobbled. Same was the case for the DS line up of systems, as those had issues as well. The N2DS XL I tried at GS felt great, as it was light weight, and the screen on that unit was amazing, as I shake each new system slightly to test for hinge issues. Now once I order one, maybe that one will feel cheaper(or have an issue), but that wasn't my experience thus far.

I'm happy to get one as the cheaper lighter feel is what made me interested, and the same goes for the NS Lite. Many have said the lighter weight makes it feel cheap to the OG, but if my son dropped his unit from any height, it's done, but the lite, probably not? The lighter weight of the Lite is anther reason I like that unit as well, different strokes, for different folks. Cheap to me is something like the OG switch, were within months, the JC can wobble(or drift), due to the design, so while the unit feels premium, other aspects certainly do not. I'd rather have unit that feels cheap and last, than one that because of having a "weight" to it, gives a false hope of actual quality.

On the subject of the build quality and durability of the 2DS XL, this is now priced at the same msrp as that horrible non-folding brick model (after you account for Mario Kart being pre-loaded).

I'm not expecting something built like my 1990s Thinkpads...

I'm new to the eshop scene. Does Nintendo ever put their IP on sale, like Mario/Zelda stuff? I just picked up a new 2DS and am interested in some of the retro stuff but didn't know if I need to watch for a sale.

Is there a site like xbdeals that let me watch and track pricing history for eshop content?

appreciate the help!

They do, albeit rarely - maybe once or twice a year. It's usually only $10-15 off at most. And only select titles. They most recently had Mario games on sale the week of 3/10.

As for a deal tracking site - use Deku Deals.

Nintendo first party stuff usually goes on sale for mario stuff around his anniversary, stuff usually on sale a bit around black friday and some other random times in the year. Like it was said usually about $45 dollars is the best these get. It sucks but at least you can sell the physical copies decently well once you're done with them unlike many other games that lose value relatively quickly.

There is one 2DS Xl left in my area per Walmart’s website. I’m debating if I should pick it up. I already have two new 3ds xl between my wife and I. I wouldn’t really do much with it other than use it as a backup if my 3DS dies. I do have a nice sized backlog of games that would be a bummer if I couldn’t play them. Ah first world problems.

Switch saves actually can't be moved to the SD card. The SD cards can only be used for game downloads. Formatting the card would just erase whatever games were located on the card, not the saves.
Good to know.

I went ahead and formatted the card in my laptop and then dragged the saved files to the SD card and put it in my Switch and everything seems to be working fine. Nintendo doesn't have a safeguard apparently when downloading games and then needing a system update. I should have gotten a message to first download the games and then update or vice versa. Hell, give me a warning that my SD card might become unreadable if I proceed with updating before the games download. This is just an oversight on Nintendo's part. Lesson learned.

On the subject of the build quality and durability of the 2DS XL, this is now priced at the same msrp as that horrible non-folding brick model (after you account for Mario Kart being pre-loaded).

I'm not expecting something built like my 1990s Thinkpads...
I got one, and it's not bad. It feels pretty lightweight. Granted, I haven't used it much since I can't find my original 3DS and need to transfer my original account, but it actually feels more comfortable in my hands than my PlayStation Vita which I loved.

I don't believe in luck, or any kind of higher power, but after two days of "processing" my New 2DS XL should be here on Saturday. It's currently being driven (or flown?) here from a facility in Anaheim, California. I really thought that it was going to be cancelled, as so many other's orders have been from these last few days.

I felt similar feelings at the time, but was only able to try it a short time at the GS, as it was a demo day for some game, and the "N" rep had to actually work, so my time was limited. I've been playing tons of Vita over the last few months, and it's definitely one of the more comfortable handhelds ever for sure.

When using the N2DS XL, it just felt right, as I have small hands, and often if a device is to heavy, or not shaped right, it cause me issues. So I can't say for sure how this unit will fair long term, but having used almost every "N" handheld starting back with G&W, this had really good first impressions.

Congrats! Mine shipped yesterday and should arrive early next week (it's gotta cross the country to get over here).

Unlike everyone else who is getting a spare, this is my first DS since my DSL. I know everyone on SD is a feeding frenzy of hacked firmware, but I'm fine with how cheap games seem to be. Even cheaper if I was able to stroll clearance end caps. Hopefully some day soon.

Any must haves or great deal sources I might have missed? Thanks

FYI, there's a demo/Pocket Edition of Clubhouse Games available now, in case you'd like to test out the title. It only contains 4 of the games, but can be played with someone who has the full game. Can't imagine the whole package isn't worth picking up (and reviews are good), but in case anyone would be interested:

I'm sure it's too soon to know yet, but if I buy this as the primary account on my switch, and my kid is logged in can he enable the game pass functionality for others?

Also, I'm now realizing this probably needs NSO to work, too....
