Anyone have a link to current instructions to set up a Raspberry PI for Homepass? Every old place that used to be reliable for Streetpasses (save maybe McDonalds) no longer works in my area. :(

AFAIK, none of the different Streetpass tricks work anymore. I've tried basically everything. Shame too now that I have WAY more games to play with them. It's terrible. And I don't get any Streetpasses anymore. My Home Depot was always good for 20 hits. Not anymore. Not even 1 so whatever they did messed the system up with that update.

I wish Nintendo would release Star Fox 2 on the Eshop someday, though I know it will never happen...
Yeah, I was hoping for that myself about 10 years back, and I gave up on it about the same time. I originally got to play it at CES back in 95, and while it was interesting, it was kind of a let down overall. They added a lot of new things, and took away what worked, so your left with more, but at the same time a lesser game.

Years ago an almost complete version was released online, and since then it has been completed by others, and it's a good play through, just to see where that game was headed, and to see some of the features that where released in other SF games over the years.

I also wanted "N" to release Virtual Boy games to the e-shop as well especially when the 3DS happened, and Miyamoto even said it should be possible, but I knew it would never happen, so now I look to the homebrew community to make things happen.

Yeah, I've been getting very few if any hits from McDonalds and Best Buy anymore, even on StreetPass weekends, and those used to be good for at least 6 to 10 for each game.

I'm guessing many of those StreetPass routers/APs were turned off or removed at some point over the past year as they maybe remodel or just try to clean up things they don't need around anymore.

The only places I can consistently get street passes are Barnes and Noble. I used to be able to drive around for 15 minutes and get them from 4 or 5 places, those days are long gone.

Do you mean none of the Homepass, Spotpass setups work anymore?

That too. There was an update that added... I don't remember. The second set of games? The rabbit? I dunno. But the week before that went life there was an update and it killed Homepass/Spotpass for me as well as all the locations (McD's, Best Buy, Home Depot, etc). Someone at the time pointed that it was a change to how they did it. So people who had the old software could still get them, but the new one, not so much.

really only a few games I would've wanted and maybe best suited for a retail compilation release that included Warioland, Mario Clash, Teleroboxer and Galactic Pinball (prob along with Tennis and Nester's Funky bowling)

silly they didnt do this imo

Besides some of us hardcore who may actually still own the VB, how many consumers would even care, or pay money for black/red games?

I do agree a compilation cart would have been best, and put the best games on it. But at the end of the day, "N" can barely turn out new games for their current devices, so where I think they should have a whole division doing nothing but VC type things, I don't think they care all that much, and their ability to multitask is just not there.

I personally think their back catalog is their biggest untapped revenue streams, but it needs to be done right, with consistent releases, and a proper account so fans don't turn to emulation and other means due to "N" charging them over and over for the same games.

Man. That's really disappointing. I wish the N would make an app or something that could do Streetpass searching or something. I would pay for something like that.

Another user has PMed me saying the router thing still works, so I may look into that.

Do you have a tutorial or I guess a method name I can google to get a tutorial? I've only glanced at these things in the past and and don't want to waste my time researching an outdated method

I personally think their back catalog is their biggest untapped revenue streams, but it needs to be done right, with consistent releases, and a proper account so fans don't turn to emulation and other means due to "N" charging them over and over for the same games.
this is a company that has made multiple digital recreations of game and watch games... guessing theres enough interest to warrant one archival VB compilation/eshop vc

G&W was super popular, and even on the secondary market now, those go for a shit ton of money even today. Those where the start of "N" home gaming for the most part(pre NES), and those DS games they release where reworked, included the originals, and some nice upgraded features.

As far as the company goes, the VB was a stain on their history, and while they include it often in games with a mention here, or a nod there, it is probably the companies single biggest failure. I don't know that they would ever release the games as is for the VB, and giving them upgrades like the G&W collections got, pretty much makes them different games altogether.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to buy some VB titles for my 3DS, but when we can't get a new Metroid, Punch-Out, or even Mother 3, it's 99.99999% VB isn't on anyone's mind within that company, but I would love to be proven wrong.

That's a lot of youtube.

Stoked on all the announcements, but the fact that only one of them is also on 3DS seems to contradict them saying the Switch isn't a replacement.
guess many of these games are easier to port to the switch (and in some cases prob getting some incentives to do so)

the switch lineup was so thin a couple weeks ago i couldn't imagine springing for one this year but several of these announcements has moved up the time frame for purchase considerably.

Reminder: The Shovel Knight sale ends tomorrow at Noon ET, so grab it for this price while you can. The price will go up to $24.99 at some point later this month.

anyone else think that 19.99 downloads are WAY over priced
I mean, I would say that largely depends on product being offered. Especially since we have most new games being available for download - I don't think that SMTIV Apocalypse would be WAY over priced at 19.99, for instance.

http://yachtclubgames.com/2017/03/meeber/

Yacht Club announced details for Amiibo support on Switch and the other campaigns:

  • Custom Knight and the challenges work on Switch like on Wii U and 3DS, though you can obviously carry over levels and progress over that way.
  • It's no longer needed to activate co-op since that's being added to Treasure Trove as a core feature.
  • For the additional campaigns (Plague Knight and Specter Knight), you unlock Madame Meeber in the town square, summoner of the Fairy of Shovelry. This also works in the main Shovel Knight campaign.
  • The Fairy of Shovelry is a floating buddy that just follows you around on your quest. It doesn't affect gameplay at all.

Super dumb question. Someone somewhere somehow on the internet said wiiu purchase of Shovel knight with be "cross Buy" with the switch version. I can't find anything to back that up so I was just checking before the sale is over. Thanks man

There's no Cross Buy or anything like that between Wii U and Switch for the time being.

Got my Switch up and running, if anybody wants to send me a friend request, I guess they're only doing it via Friend Codes right now. My code is:

SW-6797-2389-8574

This is how you get My Nintendo points from retail games:

C5-WOsNVMAAE0p8.jpg

It then asks which user to apply the registration to and I'm guessing you'd get the points for that game. They don't have that set-up just yet.

As far as the eShop is concerned, it's incredibly barebones at the moment with about nine games you can buy and three listed in the Coming Soon section. Other than a settings section, that's it for the eShop.

While eShop and whatnot aren't fully introduced, are you guys having the issues the Reviewers mention?  Specifically AFTER applying the Day One patch (which apparently, sounded almost smooth as hell).

1)  JoyCon disconnects.  Specifically because I've arranged my living room to handle Kinect, there is easily 10 ft between my TV (where the dock would be and where I sit)

2)  Power.  Is it really about 3 hrs of battery life?  Does the battery look like it might be easily upgraded?

3)  I heard some issues with the pro controllers not always working.  I'm not sure if thats just some BS from friends or not.  They aren't technically inclined.

4)  MOST IMPORTANT.  Is this something I must have at launch (and play the treasure hunt game) or do you think it'd be safe to standby for the first month or two and wait to see?

I'm partially kicking myself but that's because I've been at most of Nintendo's launches in recent memory or had the consoles within 2 weeks of launch.  But at the same time, I'm looking at the software and right now the only thing that would get me is Zelda.  And possibly MK8.  And right now I'm only 20% through Horizons.

I wonder if you get coins for getting buying the system. You got a decent chunk for buying the Wii U or 3DS in the Club Nintendo days. Not that it matters as there hasn't been a worthwhile thing to spend coins on pretty much since this program started.

I liked when they offered VC games for 30-50 gold coins and not just discounts but they haven't done that since like September/October I believe.
